    *intensively poking both of them*

    Oooooo

  • Critical_ERROR says:

    Oh god!!! She’s so cute!

    … I.. I cannot-… HNNNNNGG!!

  • ShadowsFortune says:

Well can’t wait to try this on the 18th! :3

(hue hue hue) *Shoves Stalker-Chan and Telstel and pokes Lu and Ciel so many times it leaves scars*

  • zetgeist says:

how long untill someone makes a custom voicepack that’s charlotte and jono from portrait of ruin, I wonder. appreciation for their confining the edgy factor to the guy; the last “female demon” player character they did (ley) tried too hard in that department.

of course, the $50 question is how badly will kog` trip all over themselves trying to make excuses for these two to be in the early areas of the game. :P

  • Endgame says:

In addition to being just plain creepy, (The female character designs used to be the game’s greatest strength, but of course Elesis’ arrival heralded the end of that….. of course it’s just going to be fugliness from here on out.) just like Ciel, looking at her instantly reminding me of a Grand Chase character:

    http://grandchase.wikia.com/wiki/Lime/Gallery

Gee, doesn’t the mark in her eyes look familiar?

…..The main difference, of course, is that Lime is ****ing adorable:

    http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/grandchase/images/0/0f/Tumblr_mymuuvP0aP1r7y34xo2_1280-1-.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20131230212456

They should have just copypasted Lime over to Elsword instead. New weapon, element that is practically non-existent in Elsword, (Does anyone even use light shards for anything other than extracting El Essences?) is actually cute.

    • ShadowKazuni says:

I like how you don’t gloss over the fact Ciel also has stars in his eyes and didn’t point out that he has a star on his forehead and hands like Veigas/Uno does.

      • Endgame says:

I like how you forgot that you replied to my comment where I pointed out that Ciel rehashes Uno’s design.

        • ShadowKazuni says:

I didn’t forget, I was waiting for you to pick up on that.

        • Rinzler says:

Lol Endgame, all I ever see is you posting negative stuff. It looks enjoyable and Elesis’ design is amazing. Game companies do this stuff all the time, have you ever looked at dungeon fighter and mystic fighter? Have you looked at Aion and Blade & Soul? Lu is quite adorable, and Ciel looks cool. you also forgot to mention the other things: “oh, her hair is long, must be copying off of Edel, or his hair has another color in it, must be Sieghart!” You’ll probably get pissed off if they introduce a hand to hand martial artist like Jin or Asin to Elsword, which I feel is quite deserved in this game. and Elesis’ design in Elsword, at least in my opinion, is better than the Grandchase design.

    • zetgeist says:

blah blah, shit taste, whinging about everything, etc. do you ever get tired of your shtick, endy?

      also.
      >implying that + eyes are something special and distinct to little miss dumb-as-a-brick-fanatic and not just recycled from any number of older characters from other crap
      ハッハッハッ!

    • Stalker-Chan says:

Feels like you’re just complaining out of your ass

If you haven’t seen the gameplay yet, don’t waste 30 hours of ranting. You won’t have anything new to complain about afterwards.

If you’re complaining about originality, every character is generic and overdone. Only original character is Eve because she uses two circular robots to hit things. But even her personality makes her another kuudere to fanservice the guys.

      • UNub says:

There’s no point arguing with a dude who doesn’t even like the game he plays. All he comes here for is to complain with his Mr. K tendencies about the most miniscule stuff because he has nothing better to do, nor does he understand the fullness of what it means to actually enjoy a game for getting any updates and maintaining some form of popularity.

Ironically, he just keeps arguing cause he’s a masochist. He enjoys complaining and he enjoys the updates he hates. Otherwise he wouldn’t even be here.

      • Endgame says:

Oh, you want to talk about gameplay? Okay. Let’s talk about the gameplay.

Asura, CA, and DE don’t have a single original skill between the three of them. EVERYTHING is rehashed. Some skills are merely just recolored versions of the original skill. (Asura gets yellow Gust Storm and Screw Driver in one, and yellow Mana Steal. DE literally copied Energy Drain.)

All they did with Lanox was give everything more HP. There is nothing interesting about the bosses. They are just high HP punching bags.

They nerfed all the field clearing skills for the sake of boosting mount sales.

They removed the Special Active/Awakening screen freeze in an utterly braindead attempt to increase the game’s difficulty. All this manages to do is make bosses last longer (Not at all making them more threatening because their attacks are wasted on the players’ iframes.) and completely screws over lengthy skills like Nuclear, Gungnir, etc.

GM with a +10-11 weapon and a Ring of Fury can **** over just about anyone else before they even get a chance to do anything in PVP. CA is a class that punishes you for attacking her and there is no way around it. (Save having Nasod Goggles, being Aisha or Elesis, then immediately using Teleport/Stoic – Strong as soon as you see the MP consumed. But since one of the workarounds of Stoic – Strong is Stoic – Strong its self AND I seriously doubt most people have good enough reflexes to reliably be able to pull this off…..)

…..And you think two new characters that bring nothing new to the table are going to fix anything?

The game is ****ed no matter what at this point. The very least they could do is provide variety amongst the playable characters. Appeal to people who like different types of weapons other than swords, swords, and more ****ing swords. But they can’t even pull that one off…..

        • zetgeist says:

then why are you still here complaining? if you hate things so much go play something else. we all know the game needs better devs. those of us who play anyway are going to do so no matter how much you demonstrate your nature as whineass “STOP LIKING WHAT I DON’T LIKE” prick. preaching your opinions on a fan-run blog that the devs do not care about achieves nothing.

        • Stalker-Chan says:

“The very least they could do is provide variety amongst the playable characters.”

The duo part IS the “variety” part of the game. And Lu doesn’t remind me of Raven all that much(cuz in her trailer, she summons her claw from below the ground and uses chains). If you’re only gonna stick with one character then where’s the fun in that? Duo characters should be played as duo characters constantly swapping and trying to use both characters as efficiently as possible.

If you’re gonna tell.me they ripped on maple story’s Zero with the duo concept then I have 3 arguements

          1. you wanted variety, this is not bad for variety. It could be better but the fact that you switch between two characters is what makes LuCiel different from everyone else

2.Duo characters have been done before. Like Zelda and Shelk in super smash bros. Elsword is a beat-em-up game so having a duo char sounds reasonable if done right. And if it isn’t then it’s for the possible fun factor or just having two characters at once.

          3. They don’t weild only swords and they’re completly different from eachother apperance wise. Ciel wields gunblades and looking at his trailer, I doubt you’re supposed to use the blade part. Lu has giant gauntlets that summon claws and chains

And if you’re talking about how Elsword just copypasted apperances from Grand Chase, elsword is a 3D game with better graphics. For all we know, LuCiel could’ve been into development since Add came out and they made characters like Veigas and Uno while LuCiel was being made. Plus, GC is pretty boring at the moment. I’d rather see those characters moved into Elsword where I can at least get distracted by pretty graphics.

          • Endgame says:

The two new characters with these tag team mechanics are just more of the same. The tag team mechanic is the only thing they have seperating them from the others. If it weren’t for the tag team mechanic, Ciel would literally just be the lovechild of IS and DC (Yes, I’ve been using the gunblades to liken him to VC, but it just now occured to me that there’s a better example with someone who already dual wields guns….) with a shitty “Look how edgy I am! Aren’t I cool?!” design (Albeit a prettier one than Add’s.) + backstory.

The tag team mechanic is not enough to make them new. They may as well let you tag team IS and RF and wind up with something similar.

        • UNub says:

By god…I think you’ve done it. You’ve somehow made people realize how wrong they are for playing a video game…

I’m not sure how much longer you want to keep up this charade, but you’re finding any reason to attack the game’s components.

What you’re typing isn’t your dislike with the game, there’s been plenty of actions done before on other games where they basically recycle things with minor differences (point and click games being primary offenders). No, this is about your dislike with EVERY video game that does the same thing, but you focus fire this one because you literally don’t like any other game as much as this.

Stop spewing out stresses of this stuff and start finding something productive to do.

    • Kotou says:

You’re the only one who doesn’t care End-game. I literally have to tell this to you EVERYWHERE.

      • Kotou says:

Oops. Dislike it I mean. Literally everyone else is fine and content with the new characters except for fucking you. You just gotta be the one guy? and I’m sure there is other who doesn’t favor, yeah, but you just make a huuuuge deal out if it.

    • Welp says:

they are pretty useful. and if you have fast reflexes and some imagination you can actually use it in pvp.
also great element for early lvling

  • Rebellion says:

As much as I like Zero in Maplestory for their dual gameplay (ONLY because you get benefits for actually swapping out between the two. . .) I don’t know how to feel about it here. I mean, if I don’t get any sort of buff for constantly swapping out between Lu (the girl) and Ciel (the guy), I feel no point in it, and will just stick with Ciel. I mean seriously, your armor is literally gender based for this character, but your weapon is shared. So, what’s stopping me from just buying a weapon for both to use, and sticking with Ciel for everything else. Whether it be cash armor, ice burner, and more. I don’t want to waste time by buying SO MANY ice burner pieces for both of them, that I literally would be spending 2x the cash amount for a character I won’t be using.

In the end, this is a concept that Maplestory did correctly, and I hope KoG does it just as good, or there is no point.

    • Rebellion says:

Oh and, my favorite part of this character duo, Ciel is the first real dual wielding character in Elsword, main reason I’m going to be sticking with him most of the time. Dual wielding two guns… where have I seen this before… If it’s anything like Deadly Chaser, good job KoG, a wasted opportunity, but I believe they know what they’re doing.

      • Endgame says:

You….. you think KOG knows what they’re doing? Oh, you are just adorable.

KOG has been holding the most generous events in kMMO history in order to keep the game afloat ever since the initial outrage of the Skill Tree Revamp. They just gave out free level 60 characters just to get people to log in during the Summer Update period.

If KOG knows what they’re doing, why did they have to resort to such drastic measures?

        • zetgeist says:

strictly speaking, I suspect that generosity is not kog`’s doing, but rather nexon’s. they’ve put money into the game so they want to keep making money off it, no matter how inept kog` are. see: open admission on the NA forums that the people in charge are screwing every non-kr server and would not approve of anything to improve the status of the game. notice how NA is run by kog` themselves.
kog` are greedy to the point of stupid. this has been apparent for quite some time now, noone is so blind as to need you to point it out, except maybe the NA forums, but those are overrun by steam fanzombies nowadays, and that’s a kind of person who runs on disconfirmed expectancy and would defend ANYTHING they spent money on, anyway.

        • Namusan says:

if you think you can do better, then why not just make your own game? or better yet, apply for a position in kog

“why would I apply for a company that’s already a sinking ship?” you ask? because you think you can do better

          • Endgame says:

It’s impossible to salvage KOG. They’ve set up their own path to destruction.

Did you know they’re coming out with a fourth game? (Aima Online) After their third game (Fighters Club) is pretty much unknown and even had its japanese version shut down very quickly, their first game (Grand Chase) is dying off worldwide, and their second, and only real source of success, Elsword, is about to get slaughtered by a game developed by the original team that made Elsword good in the first place.

Oh, and they’re making a FIFTH game too! (Ultimate Racing)

Why would I want to have my resume show that I willingly hopped aboard a sinking ship?

          • Namusan says:

@Endgame while I agree with that racing game thing (I’m not much of a fan of racing games, though I’m pretty sure I won’t condemn them for making one) the only reason why some games produced by kog dies is because of the local management, kog probably do their feasibility studies for these games using data gathered from their country, so it’s not the same for every country

also the reason why I think you should apply for them, you seem to be concerned with decisions made by the company, isn’t that a behavior of someone who cares? otherwise, I just think you’re whining about the decisions done by the devs, and have no idea what goes on during a game development

BTW Grand Chase JP also shut down very early, but it’s still alive in KR

          • no-name says:

@Endgame mind saying that “game developed by the original team that made Elsword good in the first place” that will “slaughter” Elsword name? I can’t find anything on google

          • Endgame says:

Concerned about KOG? Oh no no no. **** KOG.

They had something beautiful with Elsword. But they drove away the original team and ruined it.

What I care about, is Aisha, Ara, and Eve. All three which KOG has been abusing as of late. (Ara was especially impacted by the removal of screen freezes from Special Actives.) So it would be nice if they went under faster so that shit can come to an end. And with less hideous character releases in the meantime so the fanart community isn’t full of images of them. Aisha and Eve fanart used to be common, but that hideous little munchkin is going to take over Pixiv. It’s a japanese website you see…..

        • Nask says:

Endgame, your choler towards this game is mindboggling. Why bother running up here when every new update hits when you know you are about to see things that do not favor your appetite and proceed to shitstorm the whole comment section.

Why I bother to read the comments is to see how the more pragmatic members view the updates and offer insights, not them trying to stiffle a unpleasable urnmouth. Most of us know how KOG is, and wedealt with it long ago. You are the only one who is left in the sand all raw and angry.

Wise up and leave, will you ?

  • Stalker-Chan says:

@Endgame alright you have a reasonable arguement

But instead of just saying “KoG needs to be more creative” why not talk about what YOU want in Elsword? And be specific with character, type of class, playstyle backstory etc… Also try to be reasonable(if it’s Karis, explain how you want her in the story without retcon bullshit).

    • Endgame says:

For new characters to actually be new. Chung was new. (Past his base job, which was an awfully lot like Elbrat’s.) Ara was new. So why can’t they still come up with new things? Even directly copying non-sword using Grand Chase characters like Amy or Lime would be an improvement over what they have been releasing.

And how many times have we been over this? KOG retcons things like no tomorrow. When the original story quests for Velder and Hamel were written, Ara, Elesis, and Add were nowhere in sight.

Hell, you just know they’re going to retcon Lu and/or Ciel to be the ones who kill Karis in the Sander ending cutscene even though neither they or Add were even there when 7-6 was released. They’re going to retcon how Karis dies but retconning the part where she dies is too out there?

      • ShadowKazuni says:

I fail to see how ara stands as original considering well, she took Chung’s transform concept, and some form of ammunition.

        • L says:

If we want original, can we get a character like Sinbad? Haven’t seen a character like that in Elsword. Magic Sword user with summons and likes to fool around with women.

          • L says:

I think Ara is considered original because of her weapon and how she fights with it. Her awakening transformation and consumption of orbs are like Chung. Rena has something similar to it I think. So you could say Ara is part original and part reused material.

          • ShadowKazuni says:

@Sinbad; Sounds completely fine by me.

@Ara; Well, I guess I can agree with you there. I was just trying to point out to Endgame even his precious foxgirl isn’t all that original either.

        • Endgame says:

She uses a spear, a weapon no one else uses, and she has a unique way of chaining skills. She PLAYS differently from anyone else, as opposed to Elesis who is literally Elbrat 2.0 or Add who started out blatantly ripping off Eve but then branched out to just plain stealing everyone’s skills.

Although KOG didn’t even try with Asura which shares the same uninspired design philosphy as Elesis and Add. (Fox Fire is just Thousand Star release with Miho’s flames. Some Aisha skills are literally just recolored yellow and slapped on to her. She gets Elbrat’s >>^XX, etc.)

And even if you want to get into ammo vs spirit orbs, ammo can be recharged at any time, even by merely standing still. DC’s extra ammo passive even makes it a complete non-issue since he’ll never run out. But getting spirit orbs back takes much more effort. Her main active for getting them back REQUIRES it to hit enemies. Simply put, ammo is just something they tacked onto Chung that will rarely come into play, but Ara’s spirit orbs is actually a limiting system. Eun Mode doesn’t even give her infinite orbs the way Chung’s Berserk Mode gives him unlimited ammo.

And if you really want to talk about recycling, look at Chung’s base job. His Special Actives are pretty much modified versions of Elbrat’s. (Brutal Swing = Mega Slash. Detonation = Assault Slash. Lunatic Blow = Fatal Fury.) Fortunately, his job paths were able to branch out into something new. Kind of like how Ronan’s base job is Elesis 2.0 (Complete with the red and blue color scheme similarities!) but his job advancements were different from Elesis’.

        • TehFoxSays says:

I see part of ara is unoriginal (STORYLINE) but she is the only character that can connect skills, use a secret art or make up one yourself, and she seems to be the character that moves around the most

  • Anon says:

I was expecting a darker look from Lu, but she ended up looking as a horrendous-generic-looking loli. Ciel also reeks of the edgy-trying hard look.. Meh.

Guess the only thing I’ll be expecting now is their in-game mechanics.

    • Stalker-Chan says:

I find it funny how they both looks the opposite of how their backstories went

Nothing “bad” really happened to Ciel in the past. All that really happened was woah a loli jumps out of a time and space portal from the demon realm! Then he leads her to safety, dies and revives as a half demon. It’s nothing like CrA.

Lu on the other hand has a sadder backstory where she was the queen but her subjects betrayed her and locked her up. I kinda expected her to be more sad in a way cuz like, she’s way too happy atm. I guess it’s fine having a happier character since Ciel is there with his edgy aura so Lu needs to counter it in a way(?). It should’ve been the reverse.

Unless those eyes are holding back her tears c:

      • L says:

I wonder where they got the idea for the eyebrows for Lu. Similar to Kon from Tokyo Ravens.

      • Endgame says:

No, Ciel’s backstory is EXACTLY like CA’s.

Elesis suffered a fatal blow from demons. (Oh sure, pre-teen Elesis can fight off their leader but Glitter Archers almost do her in…..) What saved her life turned her into a demonic entity.

Ciel suffered a fatal blow from a demon. What saved his life turned him into a demonic entity.

Sure, Ciel might not have the psychotic evil laughter that puts Ran and Add to shame, but it is, at its core, the same damn thing.

…..And Raven did it years before either of them. He was left for dead, rescued by a shady individual with a royal title, and forced into servitude as well.

        • zetgeist says:

there is nothing new under the sun. if you wanna play “omg X is like Y!” then you might as well go help the GC wikia idiots inflate their “controversy” page with every single thing in that game that’s like something in another.

        • Nagiisa-san says:

@Endgame If you are so concern if KOG is ****ing up, then dont play the game if you dont like. O_O

  • Telstel says:

Hn, what happened to admiring the characters…

    -snuggles Ciel and pokes Lu-

    • Anon says:

Coz not everyone admires little children and edgy guys.

Still waiting for that comedic Guy character with a smile tho..

      • Stalker-Chan says:

Ciel isn’t even that edgy. It’s just how he dressed

If I went to the IM and bought him something brighter he might as well be a normal dude.

        • Anon says:

          How he dressed? What?

Are we even talking about the same Ciel here? Can you kindly look harder again?
This is even his what.. Base Job? I can probably guess what he’s gonna look on his next 2 advancements. Everything about him reeks of it.

How exactly is IM relevant? We’re talking about how he looks here..

          • Stalker-Chan says:

If I went to the Item Mall

And bought Ciel a light coloured costume

            He would look less edgy

            Maybe that’s KoG’s plan tho

What I’m saying is, personality and backstory wise, there’s nothing edgy about him. His personality is that of a butler and it’s really dull. But not edgy.

      • Telstel says:

        Your no fun Anon.

Would like more male characters to balance out theratio and also, does the married system work on LuCiel? i would think not since Ciel is attached to her hip…

  • Bob says:

Welp, there goes anoter chance for an actual dark skinned player character, I’d like a little diveresity.

    • Rinzler says:

      Unfortunately Korean culture is based around light skin. I’m going to feel like an ass if I’m confusing this with Japanese culture. ==;

      • Endgame says:

Both Japan and South Korea are nations where almost the entire population is Japanese/Korean and with strict immigration laws. Since most of their populations never see a dark skinned person in the flesh, they don’t get caught up in the whole “diversity” business like we do in ‘Merica.

lthough there is the unintentionally racist anime trend of making “dark” versions of characters with brown skin, or even Elsword’s dark elves having dark skin to represent them being “dark”. (As opposed to traditional dark elf designs where they have pale skin due to little exposure to sunlight, which, you know, makes more sense…..)
