Looks like I should probably just grab materials now and upgrade my gear once NA gets this update.

  • Endgame says:

    The set bonuses suck again.

What happened to the awesome level 60 set bonuses that even had character individual ones? (Except Elesis. They just copypasted Elbrat’s for her.)

So once again, no one’s going through all that ridiculous farming to get them when the level 80 SD gear will be better…..

    • Anonymous says:

Well that is a good point… I wish they’d actually give us better stats, but at the same time the lvl 60 gear wasn’t identifyable (Y’know, the random extra stats?)

    • UNub says:

In terms of raw stats, Henir gear has always been better. I always wanted the Henir set itself to have elemental resistances, since combining with EO and classes with natural resistances causes you to basically ignore elements.

SD has mostly catered to Ring of Fury users in the first place.

      • Endgame says:

And at this point, if you’re not using RoF in PVP, you’re doing it wrong.

+10-11 weapons and RoF is the new metagame.

        • Anonymous says:

          RoF?

I can’t recall what that is.

          • Endgame says:

            Ring of Fury.

          • Anonymous says:

            Oh…

Honestly I think that only gives a slight advantage that’s actually possible to overcome. So you actually DON’T need a RoF.

          • Endgame says:

Being able to catch the opponent right off the bat and kill them in a single combo is only a slight advantage?

…..Because that’s what happens when you give an Elesis a RoF and a +10-11 weapon.

          • Anonymous says:

Mana Break. It exists for a reason.

Also, Elboy is actually better for skill chaining than his sis. After all, Gale mode doesn’t increase mana gain.

          • Meseki says:

Mana Breaking doesn’t work too well when Iron Paladin can just recatch you with Iron Howling, since he gets more MP from command attacks and doesn’t need MP to infinite. Or when Asura can KD reset with Energy Absorption and possibly prevent you from ever reaching 100 MP by X looping to stall for Mana Drain and Energy Absorption’s cooldowns.

          • Endgame says:

Or when Elesis kills you before you even get to mana break, which is what I was getting at.

+10 weapon + Awakening 20% damage bonus + Elesis’ stupid gear scaling + defense killing debuffs = lol

          • Anonymous says:

Doesn’t need MP to infinite? What does that mean?

Gear scaling? What? Uh… I thought her equipment worked THE SAME WAY AS EVERYONE ELSE!

Damage is done through calculating the attacker’s Atk power (along with preset damage multiplier and buffs/debuffs) and the defender’s defense power (including whatever buffs/debuffs the defender has) so if you’re taking that much damage, you need better gear, and maybe need to level more. Also, Mana Necklace helps as long as you don’t have any other necklaces you wanna use. And yeah, those debuffs can be annoying, but guess what THEY need TO USE IT!MP! Which, as you might guess, is gained by BOTH sides when an attack hits (and 1 MP per second unless you’re Aisha or Rena standing still but let’s face it that NEVER happens in PVP) And once you do Mana Break THEIR combo is ruined, allowing you to try to get them into YOUR combo and build up YOUR Awakening!

Ring of Fury only gives a single bead, meaning Awakening level 1. Doesn’t last long without Awakening Time sockets. And they also have to use it properly because if they use it when you’re not where they want you to be, it can mess them up BIG TIME!

Energy Absorb has a COOLDOWN! Sure they can use it a few times, but they can’t completely prevent you from reaching 100MP. JUST HOLD DOWN THE DANG KEY!

          • Endgame says:

Yes, Elesis scales better with gear than anyone else thanks to all her debuffs and passive damage bonuses. (Not to mention I’m pretty sure CA is tied with IS for highest physical attack from weapons, with LK and GM in second place.)

Here, let’s take a look at all the bonuses GM gets:

http://elwiki.net/w/Power_Break Kills enemy’s defenses. Can be kept up as long as she has them in a combo.

            http://elwiki.net/w/Provoke More damage.

http://elwiki.net/w/Initiate EVEN MORE ****ING DAMAGE! (And MP generation.) And it boosts ^X‘s damage to boot! Doesn’t it already hit hard enough on its own?!

And on the damage mitigation side:

            http://elwiki.net/w/Knight%27s_Destiny

Get her down to 50% and her defenses skyrocket. (Or in team battles, get her teammates down to 50%, and she does MORE DAMAGE! Because if there’s one thing GM needs to do, it is more damage!)

So as you can see, GM gets much more mileage out of gear due to having more bonuses that boost how much she gets out of it.

  • Aging says:

Im really sad to see how they are handling the new sets. Crafting them is now RNG based upgrading which is absolutely the worst way to make new sets. And even after that the set effects are worse than old lvl70 sets (which were themselves worse than old lvl60 sets). Look at that 4 peiece effect, its terrible…why would you do that. What made the 5 peice set on trans nice was that 2% max mana. Sure having 4% instead of 3% double attack is good but i always thought they would buff the max mana effect since it needed to be more, but instead they took it out entirely. The least they could do is put it back in as a pve only effect.

Then running the henir dungeon itself is still lackluster. Why is ruben, elder, bethma, altera, fieta, and velder even here anymore when we are so incredibly overpowered compared to them. Even hamel has become too easy imo. Henir is supposed to be difficult but the early bosses are just useless filler before we get to the later fun challenging parts.

The best part of this update isnt very henir related. That new upgrade mechanic where you can keep your upgrade while crafting the better version will be great. I got tired of having to wait until ive finished crafting the best version of gear to use a +8 ammulet. Glad they did something about that.

Final verdict: new upgrade mechanic is good but not good enough to justify a disappointing henir revamp.

When a +10/11 eats 1/2 your hp by the time you can manabreak…. yeah glk
Gale mode does give mana gain

    • L says:

Nexon is also involved. They handle marketing and anything to do with making profits. If Nexon wants to increase profits, they will make KOG do it. It’s like EA forcing developers to release their game earlier than they need to.

      • Endgame says:

KOG/Elsword pulls all kinds of bull**** that no other Nexon games pull such as paywalls behind skill slots. And then those things carry over to the versions of the game that Nexon doesn’t host. While Nexon tends to remove things such as Stamina systems for non-KR versions while Elsword has Stamina in EVERY version but KR is the only version that hands out Stamina Potions like candy making the system meaningless.

…..Let’s not blame Nexon for KOG’s shenanegans.

        • L says:

So then Nexon had no hand in any of the marketing? Or had any influence over KOG when profits needed to be made?

If that’s true, then does that mean Nexon is just being passive about this? If the changes causes a decrease in profits or a drastic decrease in players, wouldn’t they step in?

        • UNub says:

Elsword is one of the earlier games, and they’ve had plenty of free events for their paywall that people are actually willing to pay for.

You must really hate games as a business, because that’s exactly how most of the top 10 games in KR function. “Fun” is just another marketing ploy, but players like it. So why not do it? If people are enjoying themselves, they should not hesitate to spend a little money here and there. This is also why KR is a bigger money bag than NA, since most people in NA are either cheap or straight up broke.

There’s a possibility of “overdoing it” but Elsword hasn’t really done that compared to other Nexon games. Everyone should know that there are plenty of games that make you spend tons of $$$ to upgrade weapons. How many enhancement amulet events has KR had, hmmm? You play dumb every time something good has a reason for being good.

          • Endgame says:

I certainly hope you have some examples of “other Nexon games being worse” other than Maple Story.

Because I’ve managed just fine in Vindictus and I’ve only spent $10 to shrink my Karok after I learned that smaller size = faster Attack Speed. Vindictus/Mabinogi Heroes of course, being one of Nexon’s top games in South Korea.

I’ve also not spent a single cent on Closers, (Which is doing better than Elsword according to Gamemeca.) and I am doing just fine there as well.

And even in Maple Story, there is nothing as extreme as limiting you to four usable skills unless you pay $10. In fact, if you don’t even give a damn about the endgame bosses, there’s no reason to even spend money on MS since all the Link Skills should give free players a significant boost in power to get through grinding to 200 or so.

Do not blame Nexon for KOG’s shenanegans. I’ve played plenty of other Nexon hosted games and very few of the same things happen.

          • L says:

Just saying that developers are not the only ones involved in decided whether they should give out free stuff or try to make a profit. Oh and UNub, do you still use RF or am I mistaking you for someone else? Other games, would be how they changed the items in the Ice cubes in Vindictus and pissing off players who wanted to get demon hunter without having to gachapon for it. But in terms of enhancing, Vindictus is a pain if you go from +11 to +15 considering how often you can fail. Elsword is just plain costly. However, they get around that fact by giving away amulets in events. Vindictus however, gives you up to +10 usually, but now they are timed. I wasn’t able to put my +10 on my Arisha’s weapon. Took too long for me to try to get Neptunus. So I put it on my Hurk’s NH GS. Oh and I never took count how many times Nexon decided to arrange for free amulet events. Thank you for telling me, when I was addressing business practices and how game developers are not solely responsible for how games are marketed.

Anyone know if revamp Lann is any good?

          • MallePanda says:

What happened to talking about the ELSWORD event? Why are we arguing over their swiss bank account? Js

    • arcobaleno1234567 says:

there IS an item that can make success 100%, didn’t they saw it?

    • Anonymous says:

Last I checked Gale Mode was MP cost down, speed up, and Gale Attacks have less knockdown.

Btw, I have my own Elly and I can tell you that even if it did raise MP gain, it’s not even close to her bro’s Vitality.

Also that was no secret. The failing chance was mentioned. Infact if you scroll up and look just under the set effects, you’ll see it.

    • UNub says:

You’re blind (you can’t read Korean but are still making assumptions regardless). That’s the upgrade option where you use your older gear to craft with. Keeps the enhancement level. You do NOT need to use that system, but everyone who wants their henir set to carry over will have to beat RNG or waste a lot of time to overcome it.

      • L says:

People are still going to complain sadly.

        • UNub says:

I still play RF, you are correct. Elsword is indeed costly but easily maintained by said cost. KR gets free event after free event because of the money people have already spent. I barely see that in any other Nexon game, because other Nexon games not only don’t need it to leech people’s money, but also have a stable event schedule (meaning devs stockpile the money instead of making content changes). Elsword tends to improve graphics as it goes forward while not really focusing too much on balance unless players ask for it (looking at Ereda), and most games would rather wait before doing it so quickly. Elsword has had more balancing changes than the average MMO, all because players ask for it.

NA just recently got free B slots so endgame’s ranting is pretty much moot. His arguing is moot in most cases in the first place, I don’t know why I argue with the hippie.

          • L says:

I remember seeing you sometimes on my EM when I still played. Just been wondering why Nexon, the publisher, doesn’t try to interfere if changes KOG makes may hurt the players. They should have some influence like EA does over their developers.

          • Endgame says:

“NA JUST NOW got something people have been asking over a year for! Man, that totally makes all their complaints invalid!””

The real question here is why I’m even dignifying your stupidity with a response.

          • UNub says:

Lol the salt is real endgame. NA isn’t spending even half of the money KR does to be giving that many free things out. Getting over $77 worth of things for free and you’re that person that would still complain. Wait, you’re still banned aren’t you? So then you didn’t know we get that much stuff?

Well anyway, KOG caters to their primary server and it drags over to NA. KR is full of geared people, so you need gear to not only PvE (especially after no delay patch), but also do any high tier level of PvP. Ereda was the only thing balanced to not care for gear BECAUSE players asked for it. Do you see players asking for 1v1 to get balanced? NO. Because they would rather ask for character buffs/nerfs due to their gear-based meta (which involves carrying a +8 or higher to START). Don’t know why the hate is going on KOG when they’re just trying to impress their playerbase every update. And everyone decides to play the power creep classes too, making one side of the community rage and the other one laugh at the other’s salt. KOG is not responsible for making you play a certain class.

Endgame, you’re not part of their actual playerbase, so of course you would complain over KR and not non-KR servers which have to deal with what KR gets. All of your responses come off as ignorant because you’re raging about KOG not appeasing you specifically, not actual things relevant to KR’s playerbase (or even NA at this point where solving lag is a more relevant problem than balancing).

          • Endgame says:

Lol the salt is real endgame.
This is where I stopped reading. This is the part where I knew your lengthy post is just more of the same brand of braindead stupidity.

  • Coldhearted Dropkick says:

the reason Closers is doing better htan elsword (aside form completely diff gameplay) is cause it focuses on the dungeon aspect and is in core, a dungeoning only game. and you can always go solo without missing out on much other than party play. a game you can enjoy casually, which is pretty damn rare nowadays.

Closers’ pvp is like something people asked at first for but turned out more a gimmick considering Closers’ battle system so no 1 really cares about it.
