That was one damn generic edgy ending.

    But I enjoyed it.

I forgot to Add (ehhehe), but seriously, the way he found out was rather meh and shallow. A reader (or more like, an Elsword player) would never get to this conclusion prior, thus, the way it was delivered was pretty much garbage.
Why would an Elsword player never get to that conclusion? Because Add knowing (I won’t spoil) all of that could have happened prior to the story, hell, it could have happened slightly before the prologue of the first volume with how it was delivered.
It’s not as insignificant for a reader to just not think about but it’s insignificant enough in the context of the story.

Thank you your hard work and the translation 2na.
But, I need to know something.
You said that you need to wait to receive the 5th Volume. Does it mean that you live in South Korea or somewhere else ?

  • Unknown says:

Already got a hunch that Add travel more times than he remembered anyway. So he asked Eun or used some kind of experiments on himself to forget those more than 20 Millions times? Or because his mind broken too much and he Actually Did go DiE but because of some things happen that reverted himself back to TT and at the same time he forget all of those times he traveled back? And one more question appear now is the significance of Eun Black Armor outfit she changed at the end before telling Add: how did that happen?

Looks like it will take some time for the translation of Volume 5 to be started, guess I’ll use this gap to refresh myself by reading from all the way back to the beginning of Volume 1 after finish reading this part~ ( > v < )
There should be many new findings if I look back from here, knowing how the story would be unfolded~ d(`・∀・)b

And don't worry~ I'll make sure to avoid all the spoilers about Volume 5 and wait patiently for your translation to arrive~ ♥(´∀` )人
I sincerely appreciate your efforts to bring us this novel, and I also really enjoy the excitement of opening a brand new book for the first time, and dive into it without any preconceived notions~ (๑´ڡ`๑)

I had a feeling that the very first chapter of the very first volume (Chapter 0) would come up as relevant eventually. Even that wasn’t his first time since he is so casual about it. I would be willing to bargain that this Add is one and the same as the Add who taught Aisha about Void.

In particular, I have noticed that a few individuals are… Defects in the timeline. Add, Elesis, and Aisha.

Add who knows about things he shouldn’t and travels on his transform job path (Most others are Imperial)
Elesis who acts wildly out of character and also travels on her transform job path
Aisha who flat out admits to have come from another timeline, having gained the ability to change her class at will, but at some great cost that probably involved the death of her timeline.

With this new information, I would be willing to bargain that Add is directly responsible for all of these defects, due to his time traveling. This includes both with Eun’s help and as Diabolic Esper. Already we are seeing him starting to influence other events without trying, such as Elboy’s date of birth. Rena already being 2nd job is also likely due to his reckless time traveling.

I think that the reason the timeline is FUBAR’d is because the Elteam should be dying, and D is at fault for all of this. While I agree that Add as DiE (or just the Time Tracer of that timeline) has something to do with the timeline or timelines being FUBAR’d to an extent, I also believe that DiE (or the Add from the other timeline) is the one trying to save the timeline itself.

It’s simple, really… Aisha’s been taught by DiE and given the stones by DiE. The reason being to save the Elteam so the timelines do not get fucked. DiE most likely does not want to engage himself either because he cannot (because time theories, paradoxes maybe, whatever, but I think the most likely case is that DiE’s timeline got fucked before he could become DiE and do something about it, that’s why he gave Aisha the stones, so he could become DiE faster and help the team become stronger faster) or because something is impeding him, like in Glave’s case or something similar… It’s most likely to push him to become DiE earlier, so shit like this does not happen.

Because DiE exists in the game too, that means that time works the same way it does in the Nasuverse. That there are infinite timelines with different things happening. Timelines for every instance of everything.

I also believe him forgetting things is not only because the writer does not want to write forever but because of the amount of time he time traveled. He surely has a limited memory, or the time travel itself in the Elsword universe fucks with the mind somewhat.

To be honest, if anything I theorized (lol) is true, then this writer (or writers) really gave some new depth to Elsword. While at first, the few areas the story is all happy, pink flowers, gradually (as you all know, being Elsword players) the story becomes more serious and slightly darker, yet the Elteam still survives and continues to persevere against all odds. This story though, because of how big “time travel” as part of a story is, shows that maybe what we see in-game, is only a sliver of the truth, and in reality, the Elteam fails so many times in so many instances, which to me, is really a breath of fresh air…

I’m sure this would have been pretty much the main story if they would have had all the characters in the original roster.

There is a particular reason why I feel that it’s likely that the DE that acted as a mentor for Aisha is also the same Add that is currently going through all of this stuff. Well, a handful of reasons actually.

The first is that we now know that this Add has been resetting time for much longer than we and he believed up to this point. As such, his memory loss might actually be related to “Time sickness” which although added only recently in the game as a balancing measure for Seal of Time, likely functions as a constant in the lore. Just as he forgets his attacks for a few moments in the game and gets cooldown, traveling a great distance backward in time likely takes it’s toll on his memory, making him forget what was going on a mere moment before from his perspective. Chapter 0 of the first issue depicts Diabolic Esper being killed by Code: Nemesis, and using his powers to travel back in time to try again and avoid himself bleeding out. This probably actually happened from Add’s perspective only moments before he wakes up in Chapter 1, but Time sickness kicks in and he forgets that he came from the future.

The second is that Aisha obviously must have left her original timeline before it was destroyed, or else she would have been killed with it. So under the assumption that the DE she knew was one and the same as the Add we have been following, she wouldn’t recognize him as being so because he would act as though he was native to the timeline she appeared into, due to his amnesia. Likewise, due to his amnesia he wouldn’t recognize her as being his own student from a timeline long gone.

The final reason is because Aisha is strictly behaving according to a plan. I think there is hidden meaning when Aisha mentions that she and Elesis had disagreements and went their separate ways.
If you watch the path Elesis went from that point on, she is doing everything she can to destroy the timeline for this D individual.
Aisha’s path led her in the opposite direction, acting in preservation of the timeline instead of trying to destroy it.
This makes me think that Aisha and her DE mentor formed a plan to save time before parting ways in a previous timeline.
Part 1: Work from behind the scenes. The demons will target her if she is too active, which could endanger her before she is needed in critical moments.
Part 2: Keep a close eye on the timeline. If it looks like the party is about to fail, only then is it worth the risk to intervene, as their failure will doom the timeline.
Part 3: Traces of information from previous versions of themselves were stored in El for the purpose of helping them grow stronger faster. This is only to be given to them after an intervention becomes necessary.
Part 4: Also keep a close eye on what the Demons are up to, as they are the driving force that is working to destroy time.

I also feel that Eun was also in on this plan of theirs. Eun does not lose her memories like Add does, she seems to be a timeline constant, remembering things from other timelines. All of her actions seem to be slowly but surely leading Add down a path to become the Add who inspires to save time.

On an unrelated note, Add is not the only party member with memories from other timelines hidden in his subconscious. When Aisha gives Elboy the ring to summon her, Elboy starts feeling nostalgic as though Aisha is an old friend. Logically, he has no reason to feel this way if this is his first time meeting Aisha. As a result, I have a theory.

I think that all the party members have hidden memories from other timelines hidden in their subconscious. However, because they aren’t aware of the time shenanigans going on, they don’t have proper trigger to release those memories.

I think Add however deliberately set things up so that after his amnesia he would realize his own situation sooner and would have the knowledge available to himself that he has lived before at a time before he becomes DE again. Once achieving his DE powers, he would then be able to activate the El with his memory issues in mind, which might allow him to regain his lost memories from other timelines. The El fragments given to the search party are after all called “Memory of Time and Space”.

It’s not a given that the one attacking Code: Nemesis is a DiE, the only way you can claim it’s CN is because of her throne… Which from what I remember, does not appear for Exotic. So with that, you can’t really claim that that Add is necessarily the Add that helped Aisha, it could as well just be this Time Tracer that forgot the ordeal, just like it happened this last chapter.

It’s not a given that Eun speaks about every time travel he has done even as a DiE either, so there goes another clue.

Also, if it was DiE in the first chapter and he wanted to save time, he would not engage in battle with Code: Nemesis, so it does not make sense that that DiE would plan all of this and would mentor Aisha and all that, at this point, it makes more sense that it’s another DiE.

And yes, Elsword feeling nostalgia is a symptom and it’s usually just a plot point to show his “sensitivity” to “time distortions”, it teams up well with the whole Add time traveling lots of times, thus, deja-vus and all that, you can see this shit in a lot of stories.

          • Anon says:

Time Tracer can’t time travel on his own, Diabolic Esper can. Eun is not seen helping Add in Chapter 0, so that’s the proof that it’s DE. That and his obsession toward Eve is that of a mind much less stable than that of the Time Tracer we have seen since. At the current point in time, Time Tracer would never be foolish enough to attack Eve head on, but his behavior in Chapter 0 is reckless and desperate, obsessed to the point that he’s no longer calculating the most reasonable strategy and is trying to take the core with brute force.

The continued existence of Eve is not required for time to be saved, but the capture of her core is important to him for his own desires. Most notably, the desire to be able to reliably time travel to exact coordinates in time on his own so that he can stop the death of his mother.

It seems evident that while the Diabolic Esper in Chapter 0 has developed his time travel ability to the point that he no longer requires Eun to be able to jump back in time, he seems unable to use it to travel freely in time, and sends himself back to a random point of his adventure, or can only go back so far. Even in the game canon, Diabolic Esper took time to figure out how to calibrate the technology correctly, and even then ended up traveling to alternate timelines instead of where he wanted to go.

          • Mine says:

That’s actually wrong. Time Tracer can time travel by himself, his time travels are only inaccurate, that does not deny that it can be a Time Tracer in the first chapter.

His obsession with Eve has always been a thing too (since before Time Tracer), if it’s present in the Elsword lore for Time Tracer and DiE is unknown.

Time Tracer also said that he could take Eve by himself, just not with the Elteam nearby, so that’s another thing you said that is wrong.

You then deny what you said previously, you were saying time needs to be saved. Since Eun is forcing (or rather, coaxing) Add into saving the Elteam, that means they are needed. Eun kept on making him go back to save each one of them, but why would she do that if it wasn’t necessary?

You also said that DiE wants to save time, yet now his obsession took the best of him and he decides to suddenly attack Eve, almost get killed and go back in time again? Now you’re telling me that Add is contradicting his previous objectives with the little information you have.

so their a possibility that the one created eve is ADD himself and the feature and the model use to create her was his mother !? since they already tease us about her with white long hair or silver? and beside who was smart enough to create a perfect nasod with Human appearance
