In the story quest Fun Carnival, Chung is shown to be adept at handling guns when playing the shooting game, which I believe to be a nod to Fatal Phantom. But since he's depicted as Comet Crusader in story quests, this likely means that this is true for all of Chung's paths.

I mean, yeah, but using a cannon isn't quite the same as using a gun. Sure, Chung's cannon fires in a straight line, but it's still super heavy and has to be held with both hands or propped on his back, and the way it's held isn't remotely close to something like a pistol.
It's probably because he trained under his father at a young age, so of cos his father would not hand a 8 year old a large cannon to train with. Maybe he trained him use smaller guns in improve his marksmanship.
