Elsword 0-Won Challenge (Elsword Boycott Movement)

April 17th, 2021 | Posted by 2nafishisgood in Elsword News

Dissatisfaction over the Elsword’s profession system revamp on April 15 2021 has finally resulted in Korean Elsword community banding together and protesting against KOG’s mismanagement of the game over the years.

KOG’s initial response was an announcement of 2x EXP, Drop time during the upcoming weekend, which was interpreted by the players as a classic KOG’s bribe attempt to soothe the player unrest. However, the players had finally enough and the bribe attempt only further enraged them, forcing them to take action.

A couple of initial players started setting their account’s monthly Elsword spending amount to 0 and posting the screenshots as proof. This action was noted by the other players and they started to follow suit. Before long, various Elsword community websites were filled with pages and pages of players posting their determination to stop spending money on the game.

A day later on April 16th, KOG posted an official response that they are heavily considering the opinions of the players and will make a more detailed response on the 21st. Many players’ reaction to this initial response from KOG was cold and interpreted it as an attempt to gauge the players to see if the heat will die down over the 2x EXP and Drop event.

KOG’s Initial Response:

Hello, this is Elsword Team.

Thank you for playing Elsword, and we are sorry for causing so much concern over our inadequate service of the game.

We are heavily considering all the voices of our players currently being spoken in various Elsword communities.

All members of the Elsword team agree with what’s being said and are considering various options in opening a window communication with our players so that we may fix the issues in an appropriate direction. We will post more details on April 21st.

Although we would like to release the details quickly as possible, we need some time to prepare so that the solution will be more meaningful and accurate.

We are always thankful to our players and will work towards providing the best service we can.

Elsword.

An example of a player mockingly interpreting KOG’s initial response.

Despite the unsatisfactory first response, many players are still glad that their 0-Won Challenge has forced KOG to take some sort of action. While waiting for the game company’s detailed response, players have started to spread the movement by creating an official statement which was translated into multiple languages in the hopes of gaining the attention of Elsword player across the globe.

Update: On April 17th, players noticed the posts on Elsword KR official website that demanded changes&fixes were being deleted, leaving comments that defended KOG untouched.

Update: Many players refused to play during the Weekend 2x EXP, Drop Rate event

  • JustFreezer says:

Things will change for 2 months, then they’ll come back to their regular management until the next boycott. Like every years.

  • dongshinlee says:

they still cattle since they cant understand the” bot sariel” before releasing el collection system its all justification that kog make so they can use it to suck your ed and they reduce it and now they reduce it again but without telling you, wake up player

  • ROFL says:

See Genshit impact boycott. That shit was funny as fuck they were mad for 2 days and once Rosaria’s tits dropped no one fucking cared anymore. Just like Els players KOG will bribe them with a free IB or some shit and everyone will shut up and back pedal. Everyone’s a drone.

    • someguy says:

KR aint NA mate when they say they hate shit the server shudders its the homeland piss them off and you get the closers incident where everyone in it transferred games to soulworker it was a huge transfer that soulworkers that was aiming to shutdown at that time bouced back enuff to open 2 new servers TW and the Global

    • Katja Eclair says:

Apples and oranges, that “boycott” was just twitter trolls pretending to get angry over imaginary peoples

  • sdsdfjkfdl says:

yall literally forgot KR is the same server that dismantled their stuff in retaliation to KOG huh

they can def keep a server’s sales crashing for a few days better than genshin lol

  • Katja Eclair says:

“Update: On April 17th, players noticed the posts on Elsword KR official website that demanded changes&fixes were being deleted, leaving comments that defended KOG untouched.”

Heh, reminds me of GW2’s official forums

  • MarieWolf_94 says:

about time ppl are starting to take a stand, but the only reason why KOG is listening is because ppl are showing theyre not spending money on the game anymore. fingers crossed they do listen for once and dont wait a few months/years

  • FuckKoG says:

This company is run by fucking Neanderthals who can barely put 1 and 1 together. Money hungry pieces of shit probably wont even do anything about it.

NA KoG can burn down for all i care. That place is a cesspool of trash

  • TheLuiz says:

    Western Players Complain for Years
    Nothing Happens

Korean Players get mad over profession.
    “This might be serious”

Fuck all of this. Unironically hoping this game dies for good.

    • lolme says:

well no one care about koggames

    • MarieWolf_94 says:

as much as i would hate to see this game go, at this point the best thing for Els is to just shut it down. it went from a fun, relatively f2p game to a game that is basically locking its endgame content behind a paywall. if KOG is not going to listen to us players, theres no point playing this game anymore and wasting time

      • Flare Kyn says:

What’s best for the game is for the guys running it to get their shit together.

        • MarieWolf_94 says:

well, yes, best case scenario ofc…KOG has to get their shit together. but it’s not likely KOG will ever change since the game (at least Elrianode and beyond) is becoming more and more paywall’d by the update. i’m well aware it’s entirely possible to progress without spending a bunch of $$$, but it doesnt change the fact seeing those 2x CP gate jumps w/ each region release is daunting to see

    • Haru says:

That’s due to NA/INT and EU being KR KOG’s branches. They have 0 opinion on what goes in and what does not. All the updates KR does, we are given the same excluding their events and for holidays, the rewards are being petty. Took people years to get their voices heard in NA for mw tickets.

  • FrostHydra97 says:

Me who has never spent a single penny into the game for 3 years: XD

Anyway, now that I see all of this dramatic thing, I’m beginning to wonder which of these 2 publishers of 2 of the games I’ve been playing recently is worse: KoG, or Rockstar.

Both are greedy. Both of their games demands either heavy paying or heavy farming. Both rarely care about players’ opinion. Both do crappy work on balancing stuff.

Though this is unrelated but I just want to express my feeling. Since we’re all Elsword players here, I guess you’ve all known about what I’m talking about at Elsword. But for those who haven’t played GTA 5 Online, I’d tell you: in that game, veteran bastards bullies newbies to the point of unplayable; hackers/cheaters are all over the place; if you want in-game money, you either gotta spent a huge ton of effort and time to grind the crap out of your butt, or pay a pretty significant amount of real money, just for a laughable amount of ingame money; on top of that, everything in GTAO is either useless or super overpriced. In a sense, it’s similar to how Elsword to me.

But at least Rockstar did listen to their playerbase sometimes AND managed to do something right a little bit more frequently, and at the very least, made things a little bit easier to breath for newbies and veteran alike.

And here we have KoG/Nexon or whatever they are.

    • dongshinlee says:

from dongshinlee elsword goes into darkness, less bankshare stuff more hard stuff and forced u to get +11 and the rates is meme

ofc buy +11 LMA is easy but have ever heard of INT economy

  • E says:

As an INT player, I`m glad KR is finally rising up to KOG bullshit. NA needs to get their shit together and I have no idea how EU players haven’t all quit that 7months behind KR server.

“Update: On April 17th, players noticed the posts on Elsword KR official website that demanded changes&fixes were being deleted, leaving comments that defended KOG untouched.”
Why am I not surprised? Oh right, that’s what North America KOG did with INT protesters.

  • Samii says:

Good, KR players should boycott more. KoG is just scared that they aren’t making money so they are responding. All players can do is threaten the company to make changes by not spending money or else nothing will ever change. Let’s hope this bullshit company will finally open their eyes now

  • Nisha says:

tbh, i didn’t get what exactly they don’t like about profession changes. i mean, you cna craft fighter pots and adapt pots now its not good enough for them or something?

    • Qij says:

The profession stuff hasn’t gone extra-KR yet, but even taking that out of account… No. A lot of what’s here now isn’t good enough. It’s an improvement, but it still has a way to go before being even decent.

This however, is the kidnapper telling their target that they’re going to kill and dismember the abductee even if their ransom was paid thrice over. If I didn’t have much sympathy for the target in the first place, which at this point I don’t, then I have even less for the kidnapper.

Nothing will ever be good enough for a mob this entitled and moronic.

    • dongshinlee says:

they dont like the blacksmith cuz its too many and TH get limited 50 chest

the alchesmist isnt problem actually but the mats its funny

      • Nisha says:

i mean, do you realy open more than 50 chests every day with TH? about blacksmit, i personaly dislike that +2-3 lvl thing, because it reward ppl for being lucky. how the game is rn it rewards ppl for being lucky over spending time in the game way too much in every aspect. on the other hand, yea the way they did it isn’t the good way too.

        • Flare Kyn says:

You’re missing the point. The whole point of the Blacksmith profession is to make Enhancement easier. That’s the reason it had the chance of gaining bonus enhancements in the first place.

And as JustFreezer said, Treasure Hunter got nerved big time. Sure, not everyone opens more than 50 chests, but what about the people that DID?! And that’s not even factoring in the fact that drop rate increases no longer apply to it!

    • JustFreezer says:

Treasure Hunter chest drops were nerfed to oblivion from what I’ve heard, and blacksmith profession no longer can do +2 or +3 enhancement level on success, it has literally been scrapped to force everyone to buy fluorite and scrolls from the Item Mall (hence the 1 ore and scroll usage like the usual events for the blacksmith + tons of mithril required, which are way rarer now).

The alchimist changes were welcomed, but everything else is a big middle fingers to everyone. From f2p to p2w players. What a nice rewamp.

      • dongshin lee says:

        yep sure is..

        player want more enchantment event
kog : here 24/7 enchantment event but u will pay the price

and thus the profession revamp was added

  • Qij says:

If this does prompt any change, then it will be the kind that will lose KoG more players than if they actually told the these screeching toddlers to piss off.

I definitely don’t like a lot of how things are, but this is the most counter-effective response any customer(s) can make. If the playerbase is going to throw tantrums like this, then all they’re doing is shooting themselves in the foot for minimal short-term… it can’t even be called “gain”.

People who pull this kind of thing never deserved to be listened to in the first place, if their crap was ever listened to at all. Which it has. Which is exactly what led to today’s situation.

Nothing good will come from this.

    • MarieWolf_94 says:

these are KR players. for THEM to be pissed means KOG is doing something wrong and the players are in the right to be pissed off. yes, perhaps over in NA some ppl are a bunch of “screeching toddlers” as you say, but KOG has been getting more and more greedy lately and not taking the playerbase into consideration. theyve definitely been trying to win ppl over w/ these new QoL patches and stuff, and some actually benefit the players in the long run, but these changes hardly change the fact that casual players basically cannot proceed beyond Elrianode unless they waste hours upon hours into the game (and yet still not making any true progress) or spend money. i’m not going to be holding by breath that any true, beneficial change will come from this — and not due to the fault of the players’ actions but just KOG’s usual stupidity and INaction to do anything — but this was LONG overdue

  • Kay says:

I just wonder what would Endgame think, now that it has come to this

  • They dun f-ed up says:

KoG/Nexon has always been screwing up. Now it’s become too much for KR to sit by…. AGAIN.

They’re even trying to get other servers in on this too so they REALLY fucked up this time. Hell, Nexon was the reason SINoALICE global was delayed for OVER A YEAR and they even lost rights to be it’s publisher. And keep in mind that SQUARE ENIX is the ones truly behind SINoALICE.

  • MarieWolf_94 says:

honestly it’s about time this happened. i wont hold my breath that KOG will ACTUALLY change Elsword for the better, but maybe, just maybe, theyd take the playerbase a bit more into consideration than only their damn wallets. theyve definitely been trying these past few patches, i’ll give them that, but they still wont touch the root of the problem and thats the Demon Realm debuff. RNG theres nothing they can do about but give us alternative ways to obtain the gears and tears required to strengthen our Elrianode gear…besides, if RNG (and grinding) is the reason why youre quitting Els, the hell are you doing playing MMOs anyway??? character balance as well is not exactly easy, so we’ll give them a pass on that as well. pvp…well, everybody knows how that song and dance goes… but that damn debuff they can do something about and thats either remove it entirely or…well, no, just bloody remove it. the CP gates are high as is, we dont need a stupid debuff to make it even harder for casual players

    • MarieWolf_94 says:

aaaand i just realized i already posted on this thread lol! my point still stands. i do find the little union letter adorable and funny though

    • dongshin lee says:

what are casual player? pay or go away i dont care about you all i only care for your money

      • MarieWolf_94 says:

thats what it feels like KOG’s mindset is honestly. it feels like they only care about the whales that spend hours AND money in Elsword and leave the casual players behind. a gaming company that is running an MMO has to consider ALL their players, not just the paying players…because every time a company does that, the game typically ends up failing and gets shutdown

    • Flare Kyn says:

Honestly, I like the concept of the demon realm debuff and its counterparts, I just think it was executed kinda poorly.

      • MarieWolf_94 says:

i thought it wouldve be a nice challenging element as well until i saw it in practice when i ran Demon Realm for the first time. it makes Demon Realm too op because the debuff cripples you so badly on top of the already high CP requirements

    • Lily Anne says:

“RNG theres nothing they can do about”

This is false. Currently, socketing, identification, mystic enchant and El Tears are all rigged. Admittedly, El Tears have had their roll rate evened out more now that Elrianode gear isn’t end-game. However, the best stats in socketing, identification and mystic enchant still have lower chances of being rolled than the other ones. And the only way to re-roll identifications is through a paid item. Not to mention I can use up 300+ mystics of each colour, and still not get the perfect identifications on a raid weapon. Mystics can be obtained from raid for free, but enchanting in such excessive amounts burns ED fast.

      • MarieWolf_94 says:

to be fair ive started wheening off Elsword and basically quit altogether years ago, so i may not be completely in the loop. until i see an adjustment in the Demon Realm debuff (or its removal entirely), Adaptation adjustments and/or CP requirement drops i’m likely not going to play Elsword again. i have no motivation for that game at this point lol. in any case, what i meant by they cant change RNG is that, even if they raised probability chances, RNG is still essentially a roll of the dice. in another MMO game, Closers, i saw i had a 75% chance to enhance something and i failed about 5 times…IN A ROW. numbers and %s arent everything in the face of RNG. unless youre guaranteed a 100% shot at something, theres still always that possibility your luck will be garbage and youll get a bad roll

  • Altior says:

Shut this goddamn game down already lol

  • Extreme_Meme says:

    Damn.
On one hand I hope the profession system doesn’t get screwed up bad and it’d be nice if they could revert the changes, but on the other I don’t want the game to die (this is basically my last MMO) and this definitely sounds like something that Nexon would just say “fuck this” and pull the plug over, especially in the days where a lot of MMOs have went out of business due to various reasons.

  • Sariel says:

Took them way too long. I still don’t get that this update is what broke the straw, but I’ll take it.

    • Haru says:

The update brings limit to how many items you could obtain per run and day.
As well with nerfing Blacksmith job, taking out the double enhancement.
This is one of the many updates that KOG didn’t think thoroughly and went with the greedy flow.

There are more I suppose but labeling job nerfs as “Revamp”, is just an excuse to get players to whale more.
The only good thing about it is that you coulld craft fighter pots.

Sure they did some nice changes like QoL 1 and 2, but that’s only to draw people’s attention to the game. It’s still not newbie-friendly. You literally have varni, rigo, master road and pruinaum with a debuff and a huge CP requirement. As one person said, it’s a decent update but still far from people’s expectations.

Also this is likely going to throw INT in harsh conditions, considering they’ve been like that for years already.

      • zaulwithz says:

“huge CP requeriment” is not the problem, actually the CP requeriment is low compared with what you can do if you have the CP to enter like, yeh gou the 1.5kk CP to enter Pruinaum raid, but you’ll do 0 dmg on it, getting even lower if you went to Titan Grotto with 600k CP you’ll just tickle it

        • Haru says:

The entire CP system needs to be checked thoroughly. I’m not just speaking of entry requirement though. But dungeons despite those requirements are still hard to do, and I doubt everyone who plays the game would want to whale just to enjoy.

It’s their choice if they want to stick to the game or not, but it’s not the players fault that they can’t reach the expected stats to unlock the current game’s content. And people who are at 3m cp also struggle with Pruinaum raid, as well with players who want to join them but are surprisingly not considered as helpful characters during those dungeons.

KOG’s been ignoring those issues for a long time already, if they kept on going with those updates, little by little players will quit.

  • Jourvence says:

    Where is the response

  • Sariel says:

Now, this time around our lovely director, who was supposedly stepping down from his position as a director after the last scandal, but obviously did not, actually responded directly. It’s quite long, so please be patient with translations, since Tuna probably waits for many responses to this post, because it was uploaded on the 21st Korean lunch time. However as far as I can tell, he was trying to “explain” the decisions they have made and basically listed what’s to come content-wise. In the comment section, from what I was able to understand, people still don’t seem too convinced? It depends what Tuna finds however, since he’s fluent in Korean and I’m not.

    • Haru says:

Sen Akari kinda summarized the whole statement in NA/INT’s discord server, still waiting on Tuna’s translations to see if what Akari pointed out is actually true.

      • Sariel says:

You do realize that not everyone in the comment section plays in the INT/NA server right? I’m originally from the EU one, so obviously I’m not aware.

        • Haru says:

There are EU players joining the NA/INT server to be honest. Didn’t come to a thought you may not be there, but I do know not everyone could share the same server for x community.

My apologies if anything I’ve said led to confusion or anything from that sort. :^)

        • Flare Kyn says:

Additionally, not everyone who plays NA/INT is on that Discord. Like me.

          • Haru says:

I’ve never said players who are not in NA/INT are not on the discord server though. I already pointed out “not everyone could share the same server for x community”.

Some may join to know more information regarding updates and other things that are 6 months away from the actual updates in GF/EU Elsword. c:

It’s just, I didn’t think servers outside those existed or if they do exist, until later on. I’ve only played on the EU version once which was a year ago but I never found out about a discord server I could join.

  • Gabezin says:

Nice. Now when will the players make a movement to increase the chances of enhancement?

I don’t know how most players accept this ridiculous system where you only have a 0.02% chance of success. But spend REAL money for each attempt.

In the old Grand Chase, which was also from KOG, it will be much easier to get a maximum level of enhancement, so much that I had it in 2 characters. On Elsword, I didn’t even get a +11 in 6 years of play.

Why so much difference between 2 games so similar and from the same company?

  • Racsha says:

for the ones on NA, yall remember how “my elsword experience” came out and then a day later the video is gone and the original was banner. KoG//Nexon loves money. sure one player, doesnt make any kind of difference…. but if the KR players are willing to strike back. then im all for it. yall remember for how long Master Mind dominated PVP? and they would never balance his MP install skills. They dont care until they are forced to care. and its really sad. they have the ability to make this game go mainstream but they are stuck up their own asses.
