To our Adventurers

April 21st, 2021 | Posted by 2nafishisgood in Elsword News

Hello. This is the director of Elsword, Dong Shin Lee.

I deeply apologize for all the inconveniences and disappointment that our recent content revamp has caused.

I also apologize for not being able to respond to all the concerns and criticism from the Elsword communities in a timely manner. I also apologize for the lack of communication and will hold a developer conference in late May to better listen to our players.

We are trying to hold the conference as soon as possible but please understand that we need more time to prepare due to the corona issue.

Before the conference, however, I will try to address the questions and concerns of the players in this post.

[2021 Update Direction]

The main plan for this year’s update was the overall content revamps. Many issues arose due to our long service time as new content was added to the game. We are trying to resolve these issues this year and one of these issues was the gap between old and new players. We have already implemented some changes and are planning more in the future.

However, because of our long years of service, many contents are intertwined and each revamp might impact existing contents, causing inconveniences or big changes to the current gameplay. Therefore, we found it difficult to implement all the changes that our players requested. However, our method of only communicating patch details that we were certain of happening was interpreted as a lack of communication by our players.

Because of the corona issue, there has been a lack of our periodical update announcement events, developer conferences, and chances at other windows of communication. I understand that this has been very disappointing for our players. To address this problem, this year, we were planning an event to announce our summer update in late June, when the revamps for the first half of the year were completed. I believe not communicating this information early has caused further frustration among the players. To address the requests of the players, we will hold the announcement event in late May instead, and also hold a developer conference at the same time. We will also reveal our summer update plan at the same time. From now on, in the hopes of bettering the quality of our content revamps, we won’t limit ourselves to our old methods and actively look for new windows of communication with our players.

Now, I’ll explain the intention behind the past and future revamps in the first half of this year.

  1. The intention behind the Quality of life revamps

In the case of 1st and 2nd, QoL revamps we wanted to address the issues that occur after level 99 and help the players settle in the game after reaching level 99.

[1st QoL revamp]

1) Free Transcendence Slot skill

We previously changed the Transcendence skill slot so it could be purchased with ED, but considering the problems like approachability for new players, shorter levelling period of new characters, and the collection system, we changed the transcendence slot to be free.

2) Secret Dungeon/Add Dungeon

Secret dungeon and Add dungeon equipment are now a stepping stone for later contents.

Therefore, we made changes so that players can get access to the +9 version of this equipment and quickly guide them into Elrianode.

3) Elrianode Region

After the Rigomor update, Elrianode has also become a stepping stone towards later contents. Therefore, we enhanced the default Elrianode equipment and removed the elite El Tear drops in the hopes of players increasing their Combat Points easier.

4) Henir

Force skill upgrades obtained through Henir have become essential in playing the later dungeons. But Henir content being limited to weekly farming made it difficult for players to enter the later contents. Therefore we made changes to the required materials for the upgrade.

5) Varnimyr Raid

After the Pruinaum update, Varnimyr region also has been a target of revamping to help players farm easier.

We increased the rate that the weapon gauge fills up and added quests to obtain the reset tickets. Decreasing the overall difficulty of obtaining the Varnimyr raid weapon.

[2nd QoL Revamp]

1) Rigomor armour reforge revamp

Rigomor armour is currently the best armour in the game. To ease the stress caused by the reforge process, we first tried adding giant magic crystals and weekly quests to obtain the Spectral Amethyst. However, we confirmed that this wasn’t enough so we decreased the number of materials and increased the rate that the gauge filled.

2) Varnimyr Raid Exchange list changes

Mystic stone is an essential item to enhance various mid-end game weapons but we confirmed that there weren’t enough chances to obtain them. Therefore, we made changes so more Mystic Stones can be obtained through raid material exchanges.

3) Title Switch System

Elsword gameplay mainly happens through the keyboard and having to use a mouse to switch titles caused many inconveniences to players. Therefore, we added a system to change titles easily.

4) Dungeon Scene Skip Changes

Before, dungeon scenes would only skip if all players in the party agreed. This caused inconveniences for larger parties in dungeons with limited-time access. However, out of consideration for players that want to view the scene, we changed the system so the scene will skip if 4 or more players agreed.

5) 3rd job quest conditions fixes

The last Spatio Ripper quest of the 3rd job advancement quest requires players to clear the Elrianode city 20 times or defeat Spatio Rippers summoned by Hennon in El Tower Defense.

However, this caused conflict between players that wanted to clear the El Tower Defense quickly and those that wanted to complete the 3rd job advancement. The quest also took too much time to complete, therefore we changed the quest conditions.

  1. Balance adjustment process and patch intentions

First, I’ll explain how characters are selected to be the target of a balance patch.

We collect weekly and monthly play data since the last balance patch.

Play data is collected per character and includes information such as normal dungeon results, raid results, pvp w/l ratio, average rating. Characters that excessively well or underperforms are selected to be targeted for a balance patch.

Results include playtime, total damage, DPM, skill use count, and MP usage.

Since we need to verify our data, if we don’t have enough play data, we look at both inside and outside opinions to make our choices.

The recent dungeon balancing has been focused around the current final content, the Pruinaum Raids.

For the dungeon balancing, along with the basic process of selecting a character for the balance patch, we additionally look at the character’s party members and the resulting gameplay record.

* For example. “All parties with the Character A performs well/underperforms.” or “No matter which party Character B is in, it performs well/underperforms.”

Characters selected based on these data are patched according to our standards such as adjusting skills and passives that are used too much and consulting the player opinions from various Elsword communities.

PvP balancing has been focused on minimizing the impact it has on dungeons. We monitor characters with a high w/l ratio and average rating and carry out the balance patch according to our standards such as how much has certain skill been used or if a certain skill is overpowered and by collecting player opinions from various Elsword communities.

Details from our previous balance patches like adjusting skill’s percent damage, revamping passives, the addition of super armour to Napalm, the addition of defence ignore for some skills, recovery effect for Falls were all attempts to have the affected characters participate in the raids easier.  We also consider character fix suggestions players sent through our customer services for these balance patches.

  1. The intention behind the Profession Revamp

Certain professions were being preferred over others and this caused issues with the currency cycle and difficulties in obtaining mithril at certain points.

Our intention with this revamp was to address these issues along with adding methods to enhance without the enhancement event and adding reliable sources for Sage’s Magic stones and Liquid fighting potions.

First, with the Blacksmith enhancement decreasing the cost of fluorites and restoration scrolls for enhancing and with the benefits from the Blacksmith hammer, we tried to reduce the stress of enhancing during the non-enhancement event period.

The reason for implementing limits on Treasure Hunter and Alchmesit crafting and resources was to minimize the radical changes to markets caused by abusers and bots. We believed that these limits were enough that it won’t affect normal gameplay.

However, the revamp details weren’t enough to satisfy our players.

I’m sorry that the profession revamp didn’t meet the expectations of our players. I promise that there will be additional profession content revamp in a direction that can be enjoyed without burden to the players.

  1. Future update plants

So far have been details and intentions behind the past patches. Now, I’ll give details on future revamps planned for this year.

So far, we touched upon the progression from Elrianode to Rigomor, and now, we plan on revamping contents after Rigomor, ED acquisition, Giant Boss dungeons, PvP Gear and El House.

– May:

We will revamp Magic Crystal acquisition, early Resonance Leveling, Difficulties of certain quests, titles and high-end dungeons.

– June ~ July:

We are planning some changes to the PvP gear and Giant Boss dungeons.

And for this summer update, we are preparing changes in progression for characters before Laby and the overall support for progression.

– Second Half of the Year:

El House revamp is planned for the second half of the year. We will also consider any changes that aren’t certain based on player opinions.

Also, we will make sure to include detailed explanations and developer intentions in future content revamps and updates.

  1. Player feedback before updates

I apologize again for not sharing the update details under the excuse of it being an internal development matter, which led to players feeling their voices weren’t being heard by the developers.

As one of the solutions to improve communication with our players, we will provide a place where players can voice their opinions on upcoming revamps.

As part of the quick implementation, instead of creating a completely new section, we will make use of our existing suggestion board. You can find more details here.

I am aware that many player suggestions in our balance discussion board, 1:1 tickets and official board weren’t implemented and players will be skeptical of these new suggestion board changes.

All the suggestions were looked at internally but the process of implementation was lacklustre and many took too long to implement. We will work towards making the official boards a place of two-way communication between players and developers.

  1. Additionally, we will respond to the questions in the testament we received

Explanation regarding why the response to the 2nd Developer Meeting’s data was delayed over 600 days

We tried to apply any changes that could be developed as soon as possible, which led to an inadequate response. It led to a situation where some details couldn’t be implemented and we were only pondering over the changes, not being able to give a response in time. This was entirely my fault.

Because it’s been too long since we received the suggestions, additional response and implementation from that data will be difficult now. I ask for players’ forgiveness regarding this matter.

We will enhance the communication features in our suggestion and balance board so we can listen to our players again and respond properly this time.

We will postpone the new league scheduled from 5/6 to 5/27 and work on receiving player feedback.

Explain the reasoning behind profession update

As I mentioned earlier, the profession update was carried out to ease the various issues players encountered. We will carry out additional patches in May regarding parts that players felt were nerfed

Revamp the enhancement system that is difficult to use without cashing and can only be done during certain events

I also agree with the need of revamping the enhancement system. However, the enhancement system can cause a very large impact on the gameplay and economy. Therefore, we are approaching it carefully. We will look into a method that can minimize the impact on the gameplay.

I apologize for not being able to make any promises regarding the enhancement system right now.

Carry out meaningful balance patches more often. Do not make simple number changes.

After the character reboot updates, we’ve been carrying out balance patches in time with the start of a new league season. Each character in Elsword is unique and a change in one skill is connected to many other factors so we couldn’t make many structural changes each time.

But we will continue to release balance patches in time with new league seasons. For future balance patches, we will also add explanations regarding the balance patch changes to enhance communication with the players.

Release new content more often. Make it easier for new players to settle in

I’m sorry that the Elsword team cannot develop enough contents to satisfy our players.

We will work towards increasing the amount and quality of our development through methods like hiring more personnel.

As I mentioned earlier, we will work towards making it easier for new players to settle during the Summer Update by revamping the early game.

Release update schedule and explain intentions behind patches

We usually did this during official events but because of the corona issue, we changed our methods to announce the changes a week beforehand.

Long-term update schedules are prone to changing so we cannot announce all of them, but we will look for a way to announce them periodically.

And we will announce any revamps that could cause an impact on the gameplay along with the developer intentions behind the revamp.

Punish players that abuse the market prices. Revamp the trading system and make a real-time market price system.

We enhance our response and punishment towards illegal tool use and macros.

As for the game market, we will look towards stabilizing by revamping the ED acquisition. We will also revamp the trading system from considering the player feedback.

Apologize for the overall mismanagement of the game and all the errors. Announce a solution towards this never happening again

I’m always sorry for the disappointment and inconvenience that players feel with our management. We will enhance our QA so we can fix all the errors as soon as possible.

Prepare a window for communication to restore the trust of the players

As I promised earlier, we will use the main website’s boards to manage a place of communication and discussion regarding the main updates. We will also hold a developer conference in late May. More details on the conference will be announced in a separate post later.

This concludes the response to the testament. I apologize again for the long lack of communication causing worry and disappointment to the players. I also apologize for having the players wait a week for this response.

Thank you for sending your heartful criticisms and encouragements all for the sake of a better Elsword.

To not betray the faith of our players, we will respond with updates, not excuses.

I sincerely hope our players continue to create more memories with Elsword together with us.

Sus as hell but hope they deliver

    • Former White Knight of KOG says:

possibly some but I don’t think they’ll deliver all of it, considering it’s been years with the complaints but they refused to listen. Just when the game started earning less they’d consider listening to the community(Shows how greedy they are). It’s quite too late already as so many players already dropped the game. There’s a high chance they’ll go back to milking players rather than giving meaningful updates(Just look at Varn raid weap to conversion to Pruin raid Weap). Highly suggest stop with the fucking special treatment of KR server, there are other servers that would appreciate better updates as well.

    • MarieWolf_94 says:

it’s a very thin silver lining, but at least it’s promising. just because i say it’s promising though doesnt mean my hopes are high. at this point, i always make sure to keep my standards low w/ KOG so i dont get disappointed. at least in that way if they actually provide good QoL content, itd be a pleasant surprise, but if theyre poor it’s just “Welp, what’d I expect? ¯\_( ツ)_/¯” hopefully KOG actually delivers this time because, at least i hope so, i think the KR players are completely done w/ KOG’s bs…so, if they get angered any further, i believe itll be the end of Elsword because the other servers have an even smaller playerbase than KR. if the KR playerbase crumbles, KOG is gonna be a sinking ship due to their money cow finally dying

  • Brancliff says:

It’s so weird to me that they threw the el house under the bus. Out of all of the things that people are mad about, I feel like that’s one of the things people are the least mad about. Primarily because they have to care in order to be mad about it

This response to me feels stiff. Like, it’s *adjacent* to the point, but not quite hitting it. Yes, we understand that you made the earlygame easier by giving out +9 equipment. But we’re already using it – many people reading this post even have it equipped, so why did you feel the need to re-state that? Did you think that saying it again would make us go easy on you or something?

It’s not to say I’m completely 100% repulsed with this or anything. There are things here that I sympathize with them on. As much as the enhancement system upsets people, they can’t just decide to change it overnight, because that awful enhancement system is also what keeps the company in business. There are things in this post I can agree with. The El House sure isn’t one of them.

While I’m not thrilled with this post, there are many promises they’ve made here and it’ll be easy to fact-check them. A few months from now, we can all hop back on this post and see how many of the things they said they’d do actually happened.

Also, hello world, I’m Brnacliff. I’ve been spiraling over this protest for days because I didn’t expect to get pulled into it myself and this got posted RIGHT as I got ready for bed. :/ I don’t normally post in this comments section anymore, so to the guy who pretended to be me on the last post, please stop, surely there’s someone better to imitate than the guy who stopped playing years ago

You quitted the game over 2 years ago. you dont play the game anymore so please get over it and stop making video about it to get yourself view : D. I dont want to sound rude but it’s a meme at this point and opinion from someone not playing for years isnt really something we would consider. Have a nice day and hope you actually “quit” for real.

      • MagicSpice says:

So basically… “I don’t like you so get out.”?

And this is why more and more people treat plebs on Twitter that try to cancel stuff like a joke. Cause of that whole, “I disagree/dislike you so you need to disappear” mindset.

Comments like yours is the real joke/meme tbh.

        • Niceacurgar says:

Oh because shitting on something you don’t play anymore for 2 years just for the fun of it is completely and utterly okay and should be continued huh?

Logic like yours is the real joke/meme tbh

    • RehearsedNA says:

I recently found out that the last post wasn’t you at all. I still hold on to what I said before. I really don’t understand why you still make videos about this game.

    • Michele says:

Hey there, nice to meet you here, person-who-despise-Ara-so-much. Nah, I’m just kidding, you got your own opinion. Although I worry the hate is unhealthy… also, really, a fake Brancliff? ouch.

Jokes asides, I feel like the message has been a little more detailed than I’d like to admit. Considering Nexon or KOG I was kind of expecting a more subpar, short message to everyone, but I’m glad it’s a little long and it’s coming from the director. I know it won’t satisfy every players though. I think the first two points talked about WHY they did these decisions. I find the title switch and the 3rd job thing to be a good thing though. For 3rd job, it means you can just do normal and not have to find parties who wanted to clear out mobs rather than clear the dungeon quickly. It’s overall much better than before the rewamp. For the title change system, it’s true that most end game players do change their titles a lot like that manner with mouse, but that change saves some seconds and allows you to focus more on gameplay, since by opening the title menu you’re risking being hit suddenly. The mystic stone is also really good, sure it’s still RNG but at least it’s guaranteed to be the highest tier. (On a side note, scene skip in raid party is not much, but still better.)

And I’m aware that it won’t really lighten the load, like, even if they said it, doesn’t really mean that I’d go easy on them, however they usually if ever did not even try to properly communicate with us, I’m glad the boycott has caused them to talk to us for a while at least. It is nice that we get a behind the scene information on how they do balance changes, although it’d be preferred if it wasn’t solely focused on the Priunaum raid. However now it might give KR players a chance to ask for the balance of skills. It is kind of the same thing with the profession system, abjustments in May. Though it is nice we get a sort of small roadmap for 3 months ahead but it’s strange that El House of all things is in the latter half.

I’m glad they addressed most of the things that a KR player asked for in one of their letters (I think it was like the conditions, what they wanted from KOG/Nexon). For releasing more content part, I kind of suspected they did not have many peoples in development team, which may be part of why some updates felt low quality but I guess it is kind of confirmed, however we can’t tell for sure. And it is true that it has been too long since that last dev meeting and so nothing much was really done.

I am a little surprised that they actually agree with us that enhancement system is really bad as it is now. I’m waiting for the day there will be a rewamp on that, since as they said, it’s not like they can change it overnight. Yes it might affect economy massively, even the balance possibly, but if they can improve it and make it less p2w, then this game might just be on the rise again, despite recent events and games like Genshin Impact occupying many players.

I guess that’s all of my opinion on this one. Of course we will need to see how will they handle the future updates, then we can judge. But AT this moment, it seems like they’re a little more serious with their update plans than I thought. The changes seem promising, title requirement reducement, MC and VoS requirement reduced, magic crystal dropping, and even the free pet coming with permanent pick up item effect. https://elsword.nexon.com/news/notice/133842

    • MarieWolf_94 says:

i’m not sure what KOG have in mind by real-time marketing, but basically most MMO markets scale the pricings you can list items at based on demand and the pricing everyone puts these said items on the market for. so let’s say the price range ppl sell, idk, an El Shard is around 100k – 200k ED. if you go to sell an El Shard, the market will automatically show you basically “Ok, here’s the range of price for this item, this is what our suggested pricing should be if you were to sell this El Shard(s).” some games force you to stay within that pricing range, others it’s just a suggestion and you can still under or overprice the item if you so choose. if this is what KOG meant, i hope they do install this type of marketing because players always overprice sh*t and get away w/ it since theres no repercussions for selling something for millions or trillions ED even if you could just grind for it yourself or buy it w/ real money yourself

This is all PR bullshit to save their asses. They will not change the enhancement system, and they will put the minimum effort into appeasing people. They hope the backlash will die down, so they don’t have to do anything about the game’s issues. They do have people assigned to listen to and gather feedback from players, and so are very aware of the issues that have been persistent for years – but they choose to ignore them. They’ve been ignoring those issues for so long, so why would they fix them now?

All this time, KR players have been trying to communicate and give Nexon feedback. Having been ignored time and time again, with the enhancement rates being revealed and the horrible profession revamp, players finally got fed up. Nexon does not want to listen to the players, and only cares about their earnings.

They designed this game to make its players addicted, not to make it an enjoyable experience. There’s a whole section of psychological research they use to ensure their methods will suck the players’ wallets dry. In KR, it’s normal to spend hundreds of dollars per month on a game – but they finally realised that, despite all the funds and time they put into this game, they’ve been treated like nothing but garbage.

For this boytcott to work, it needs to last weeks, months. If people are persistent, some changes might be made – but more realistically, there’s a chance of Elsword getting shut down. If people give up, KOG will swipe all the issues under the rug again, and let the game suffer an excrutiatingly long death. At best, they might adjust the enhancement rates.

I am fully behind the boycott, regardless of its outcome.

    • dongshin lee says:

nah it will not shutdown if kog decide to give player shit

the QoL patches we’ve been getting since around the time of the 2015 character reboots and onwards have been changes we’ve been asking for. yes, some were years overdue, but we did get them. as for the other QoLs, theyre mostly KOG assuming this is what the playerbase wants…then ofc theres the addition of cutesy stuff like fishing, El House, etc that nobody asked for. i do agree this boycott was long overdue and hope that KOG actually takes action and arent all talk as they have before

While they are on this QoL train, they could spend time revamping something that makes a difference, like guild skills (as opposed to the El House which is just cosmetics and applying a seasonal buff). There are plenty of guild skills right now that could be combined or serve no purpose.

Examples: 5% chance to not use a potion – Never used.
The passive to get more ED in dungeons and the passive to increase movement speed when gaining ED could be combined.

The passives to get mp when attacking/attacked could be combined

The passives to gain more awakening charge or awakening duration could be combined.

All that to say that with the additional space they gain from doing so, they could add in a/a or adapt or crit damage passives (in some small amount) to help with stat spreads. It would help both new and old players alike.

I know they don’t have any additional areas in the works coming soon, but more exp from dungeons would also help in terms of getting ERP stats.

  • Veteran says:

I’m interested in seeing what they do with the El House, considering its a seasonal buff and cosmetics right now. But as far as current information given by them, it seems like they are trying to make an earnest effort at helping the players. I hope it’s for the better and they will be taking everyone’s ideas into consideration.

  • Xamy says:

Can they stop making PvP things a hard grind in PvE ? thank u.

  • Sariel says:

It’s interesting to see how some of you think this is an appropriate response. They were basically admitting to most of their shortcomings, but not offering any proper solutions at all at the same time. Saying that “we will try and improve the system”, just means “we will find a new way to get your money.”, while promising something without people being able to hold them accountable for that properly.
“We will enhance the communication features(…).”, ” we will work towards making it easier for new players to settle(…).”, just to mention a few examples. These statements are empty and only because LDS says they will work towards improvement, yet only in minor cases (the El-House) that don’t even really matter, they offer actual systematic breakdowns. It’s blatantly clear when looking at the profession revamps. They really thought that they would take pressure away from the community, by limiting achievable resources and their overall accessibility to their community? I don’t think I’m particularly poking in the dark when I say that the hopes and wishes regarding the profession system were to make it less expensive and especially optimize the alchemist profession… right? And that players have been voicing that for quite some time as well… right?!
Originally, I wanted to go into more detail with this, but honestly? I’m so over this, because they have been using this same BS over and over again. They literally used a pre-prepared PR file, because the wording is the same shit they have done during every single scandal…
They claim that they look at the collected data from the players, but never properly revamping characters such as Mastermind who rot in hell? This game is all over the place, it doesn’t seem like they are playing it themselves and this is just another proof to me.

if what the Director said was truthfully about why they did certain updates, i believe him since i truly do believe KOG is trying to improve the game for the players’ sake. yea, ofc, it’s because of greed, but it still counts for something. the problem is, most of the QoL changes or additions to the game werent asked for and it was mostly KOG assuming this is what the playerbase wanted based on (supposedly) statistics and data. again, if it is true theyre basing all their revamps and patches on statistics and such, it makes sense why KOG is seemingly patching “useless” things. this also makes so much sense for character balancing because statistics and numbers dont tell them WHY certain characters and classes are doing poorly compared to others. yes, these numbers can tell you why a character is good/bad AT BASE, but the question is do the numbers calculate the gear the players are using, at what enhancement and what sockets? if not, thats taking away a whole other element thats vital to determining the overall potency of a character/class. then ofc theres players’ playstyle, but theres no way KOG can calculate that into the equation. yea, they could observe what skills their players are using, but if they dont know why this information doesnt help them. what are they going to do, ask every single player why they use the skillset they use? character balancing isnt easy, and if thats anyone’s primary concern about this game youre going about it all wrong. i find this response incredibly appropriate, even if what you say is true that some of it is just copy-paste from previous apologies, but words are one thing and action is another. if theyre promising to communicate better w/ their players and adjust their future patches based on what the playerbase suggests/requests, they have to follow it. if they dont, KOG truly is stupid and theyll lose many loyal players and Els may very well shutdown

The pointless QoL updates are, however, exactly the point I have an issue with. They claim that they “listen to the people”, but nobody asked for the El-House update or for the profession revamp to go down the way they have planned it. Over the course of many years, a bunch of people tried to pitch great ideas to improve the current meta of the game, but their reaction to those changes were not the best (I’m referring to the allegations made by former Eve-player TIFFANY from Korea. He allegedly applied for a job position at KoG HQ, to help fix the game and improve it. Allegedly, his offered improvements and changes weren’t up to their standards, because it wouldn’t generate enough money. Thus claiming all of his ideas as unusable – ALLEGEDLY).
Now, the character balancing is something they have been improving on in recent months, even though it’s only the characters that are heavily used by the community. They are, however, responsible for this, by nerfing many characters to a point where they are just straight up dead (great examples imo are Herrscher, Mastermind, Esencia). Shouldn’t you start the game and play with whatever character you want to? If you look at the raids, chances are high that you won’t find a group to play with, if your main character is not favored by the community. The heavy reliance on high-geared weapons, the meta of the titles and what else is really needed for the next dungeons are also part of the issue and that is by no means a “community-driven problem”, but it’s on the side of the developers. For that, I’d like to refer to Blühen when the Rosso raid came out. The game’s meta forced certain people to change their preferred character of choice, only to progress in the endgame. You can’t tell me that’s an appropriate state of a game and that it’s on the player/community. The developers decide, through the balances, which character is more useful than others, so of course they are primarily gonna focus on those characters that the community use regularly. However, they are the ones regulating and could have given equal treatment to every character, which they chose not to. Also, if I remember this correctly, allegedly, they do collect each player’s information on weapon level, used skills, etc., so they might know more than you’d think. They also have a suggestion board in Els KR where people would constantly make suggestions on. For example they complained about the fact that Ara is pretty much useless especially in raids but they haven’t really touched her much, even though the complaints have been going on for more than a year or so.
The reason why I found this response inappropriate is that they have NEVER stuck to their promises. That’s why I said that they copy and pasted this, because this has happened in the past. Once the money stops flowing, they suddenly backpaddle and pretend to “listen”. Even with the announced updates with the magic stones and what not, people online were already talking about upcoming changes in the general department of the game early this year, so that wasn’t too much of a surprise here.

cant be QoL without Quality … and thats what most of these changes lack … all they do is give handouts instead of making things more realistic/more fluid … u think earlygame is meaningless … here we shortened it to 5 minutes so u can get to grinding as soon as u start playing the game completely destroying paceing but hey u got what u want … u know the enhancement system is trash … here instead of making it more fair we will just give u +9 void/sd

        • MarieWolf_94 says:

i never said this is a community-driven issue, ofc this is the devs’ fault. in recent years, KOG has gotten extremely greedy and has been borderline slamming down paywalls in front of the endgame zone that is Demon Realm. you either waste hours upon hours to get titles, gear and mats to improve your gear…orrrr you pay them. that right there is their problem. by thinking more w/ their wallet than their brains, theyre losing a lot of players in the process. yes, recently theyve been giving us decent QoLs, but the problem is theyre either old problems theyre FINALLY patching, or theyre assuming certain, specific systems are whats driving players away and “fixing” them. they need to stop going off numbers and dollar signs and actually listen to the playerbase. if they keep dicking around, even the KR players will get fed up and also jump ship, because i truly do believe it’s the Korean players that are keeping this game afloat. cant speak for other servers, but i know NA server is a borderline ghost town…almost nobody plays Elsword anymore except hardcore gamers and whales, and the only reason why most of the whales are still playing this game is because theyve invested way too much money into the game to just quit. if KR Els falls, Elsword WILL get shutdown. KOG needs to step it up and actually keep true to their word or theyll lose EVERYTHING!

          • Sariel says:

I don’t think an answer is necessary seeing their great response to the issues, right? I mean, you said so yourself: “by thinking more w/ their wallet than their brains, they’re losing a lot of players in the process.”

  • Takaroku says:

    Dead game?

    • MarieWolf_94 says:

i think for other servers it’s quickly dying, but KR Elsword is still going strong…well, at least up until the KR players boycotted the game for about a week and didnt spend money and/or played Els at all. KOG is responding, but now we gotta see if they follow-up on their promise

  • Flare Kyn says:

Hmm… What they’re saying makes sense for the most part, but words are one thing, actions are another.

  • MarieWolf_94 says:

i’m glad they seemed to have responded, but words are just that: words. they promised to communicate more and keep the players in mind for each patch, but now they gotta put that promise into practice. hopefully, since this is specifically the KR server, KR KOG will be a good role model for the other KOG servers. this message gives me a small glimmer of hope, but it’s slightly tarnished by the fact the only reason why KR KOG responded like this is because KR players were not spending time and money in Elsword, so KOG was like “Oh sh*t, we gotta solve this, and fast! We’re losing money!” i get thats just how companies work, but (good) gaming companies typically listen to their playerbase from the get-go to ensure they make their game(s) fun and fair for the players…because happy players means more profit since players will stick around and could potentially recommend the game to other could-be-players so the game(s) gets more traffic. the one concern the KR player union didnt bring up is the endgame CP gates, but i get over in KR that probably isnt their main concern (since most, if not all, KR players are tryhard, hardcore gamers) as compared to NA and other servers. i feel like the CP gates from Elrianode and beyond is whats truly killing the game because the difficulty spikes drastically yet again (w/ the first time being in Atlas Station, but at least for Atlas Station and Elysion the CP gates were manageable) and the CP requirements jump massive between dungeons. but, again, i get it…thats not KR players’ main concern, so i’ll have to take what i get and hope KOG pulls their sh*t together

  • MagicSpice says:

Came to see what this whole fiasco was about…. Glad I dropped this game looking at it. KoG is NOT giving me any reasons to come back so my Metamorphy is just going to collect dust at this point.

Although, Nutaku version of Kamihime Project is starting to look like it’s headed the same direction. Companies just don’t seem to get that the people that pay them are the ones that have the most power and say-so. If you refuse to listen to your consumers then well, you’ll eventually get snuffed out.

Cause I mean, it’s not like this hasn’t repeated or anything…. oh wait. Seriously, there is that saying “those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it”.

pfft, dey talk stuff abt class balancing and getting data and stuff abt it.

wen it’s clearly just all abt char/class popularity and bias. Just look at Ara, even Aps her supposed to be “support” class, can still dish out more dmg than some “dps class” or “support dps class” of some chars. How is dat balanced hahahaha
and i forgot to mention she’s easy to use too. I know some ppl wud be offended, but i dun care and i wont reply anyway if some ara user wud be offended in dis.
ofc not only Ara, same goes wid RM and other very used classes on kr.

And of couse the newest char wud always have some sort of broken shet, just see how braindead CL buffs are, and how brainded is that lag-inducing skill(serpentarius), tho well it’s not like he wud use it on raid so it’s just annoying in casual pt. The buffs tho – – are really gud.
