Chapter 41-1: Sliver of Hope
Rose decides to spar with Ventus, in hopes that she can find out what is the transmission. Despite some power, it didn't activate, while Zero starts to worry about Empyrean. By sparring with Ventus at full power, Rose manages to get it working, and it takes her a lot of replaying to decipher the message, which the codename, "Aurora", tells them that the soul is safe, Rigomor is safe and they shouldn't say anything due to potential retracing.

- Zero: And while you guys are at it, I'm going to use the wavelength of the Wind El to attempt communication. Now, Rose. Your job is to make sure I can collect as much data as possible.

- Rose: Ha... At least we've got something. Though it would have been better to have something intelligible... I will try harder next time!

- Rose: Zero? Do we have a problem?
- Zero: Well... Not exactly a problem, per se... But Rose... Do we really have to keep doing this?
- Rose: It's too early to give up! Let's try once more!
- Zero: I'm not saying it's too hard... I mean, what's the point of doing all this?
- Rose: .......... You're talking of the possibility that the method itself if flawed, as the communication between us and the Heavens already ceased a while ago.
- Zero: That would be the least of our problems.... What if the reason for the communication stopping has nothing to do with us...
- Rose: ... If we succeed in communicating with the Demon Realm, then that would mean something went wrong in the Heavens.

- Rose: I suspected. But, let us not jump to the worst conclusion, Zero. Maybe the Heavens were stabilized, and the connection between us were just... severed.
- Zero: Wait, and you're fine with that? If you're right, then we're essentially stuck here.
- Rose: I am. Think positively. Isn't that still better tan the possibility of the Heavens in complete shambles?
- Zero: Tsk, so you've already mentally prepared yourself.
- Rose: How could I stay blissfully unaware, when you sigh so heavily during our regular reports?
- Zero: But you were. Pretending to, anyway.
- Rose: I didn't want to face the truth, that's all. But I couldn't ignore it forever. At the end of the day, I was sent here to investigate the strange events occurring in the Heavens. So I'm happy as long as the place I've sworn to protect is safe.
- Ventus: My, aren't you alarmingly dedicated to your cause.
- Rose: Is that so? I'm surprised. I thought you would empathize.
- Ventus: Well, I don't know about that. THough I do think the El Master's duties are important... You're talking about sacrificing yourself for the 'greater good'.
- Rose: I heard the El Masters and the Priestesses cut off all ties with the world to dedicate themselves to the El and the El Lady. Doesn't that mean you are also making personal sacrifices for the world as an El Master, Master Ventus?
- Ventus: Haha, I guess if you say it that way, you're not wrong. I just find it odd. The El Search Party is working hard to find the Dark El so no one has to sacrifice themselves. Don't you agree with their ideals?
- Rose: I do agree with that aspect of their mission. No one's sacrifice should be demanded of them for the world. But, in order to make sure no one has to make the sacrifice, everyone has to share the burden.... And I, personally, believe that goal can be reached much faster, if one decides to bear a heavier burden when the opportunity arise.
- Ventus: So, you're only doing slightly more than others?
- Rose: That's how I see the El Search Party's mission as well. In order to find a solution, the El Search Party must walk a rougher path than others. But still, isn't that more ideal than a world where someone is sacrificed? That's why I trained to become a soldier.

- Rose: Though we're missing some key parts... We can still make out most of the message!
- Zero: They must be talking about the White-Ghost King's soul here, right?
- Rose: It's still missing some parts, but I believe it says Rigomor is safe. -ound the soul... Round? Found? Either way, it looks like they must have the soul.
- Zero: Ret--- immediately... Return? Retry? Retort?
- Rose: It sounded like a vowel followed immediately after. Return sounds like it would fit this context.
- Zero: It's like we're deciphering a code... Now, if we put together all we've gathered so far...

- Ventus: I see! It makes more sense now.
- Rose: I wonder what they said in the beginning... It seems to be identifying the messenger...
- Ventus: Au... ra... Do you think this is someone's name?
- Rose: It could be an organization, a location, or even a code name. Like the ones we use in the army.
