Before Joining 1

Add breaks away from trailing the El Search Party to get ahead into Velder and do his own investigation toward the gaps in his knowledge about the Debrians. Upon arrival to the kingdom's capital, he was met with a city in the midst of a demon invasion. Stern in his goal, he sought out the city's library in the midst of the chaos.

Quest Completion Dialogue
  • 'Debrian study of medicine does not differ too much from an alchemist's potion in that they improve quality of life and lessen pain.'
  • 'Yet, most perceive them negatively, due to the consequences brought by the soldiers who used the drugs during the Nasod War.'
  • 'This, however, fails to address the true cause and effect of the problem. Many ignore how they've arbitrarily increased the dosage for the war, and the Nasod transplant targeting the soldiers were done without proper...'
  • 'The fundamental cause lies in the reckless implementation. Therefore, in order to combat the negative stereotype, education on the proper dosage and usage is necessa...'
  • Add: .......
  • Add closed the report with a bitter expression. If Mother had completed this research, it would have helped many.
  • But what use is it now.
  • Add gathered the reports in a pile and left.
  • Add: ... ... ... ...
  • It seems what had happened at Feita was finally being resolved. Add, who was following the El Search Party in secret, decided to head to their next destination, Velder, first.
  • There should be more information on Debrians or the Nasods at the capital. Based on what Wally has done, he was certain that there wasn't anyone left who would recognize that he's a Debrian.
  • Add: (But I should still be careful.)
  • The only thing he needed was information and a clue to go back to the past. Nothing else mattered.
  • But when Add got out of Feita, he noticed something serious was happening.
  • Add: What... Why are there demons here. Did they escape from Feita? No, there's too many of them for that to be the case.
  • Add obliterated the attacking demon and grabbed a soldier coming from the capital to interrogate.
  • Add: Hey, you! What's going on here?
  • The soldier, who looked exhausted seemingly from his non-stop rush from the capital, responded with difficulty.
  • Soldier: T, there were monsters... in the capital! I don't know the details, but...
  • Add: ... Monsters from the capital?
  • Add narrowed his eyes. Come to think of it, he remembered someone mentioning that the reinforcements from the capital were being delayed. And this soldier came running all by himself, barely armed.
  • Add: Perhaps they were not late, rather unable to come.
  • Soldier: I, I was to inform Feita and ask for reinforcements, but the monster...!
  • Add: You, follow the path I came from. There are no enemies that way, so you should arrive in Feita safely.
  • Add: Go inform what happened in Velder.
  • Soldier: Yes! I, thank you... For saving my life, and for helping me like this...
  • Add: I don't need your gratitude, so go! There's no telling when demons will come back.
  • Soldier: De... mons? Ah, yes. Then...!
  • The novice soldier gave a blank look as if he doesn't know what a demon is, but soon hopped off after a clumsy salute.
  • Finally, he arrived close to Velder. It was un utter chaos with people rolling out of the capital creaming, and Add could see how dire the situation is immediately.
  • In the direction of the palace, dark, depression smoke was covering the blue sky. It was still a small dot, but if the center of the capital is like that, then...
  • Add: Ha!
  • How ironic. The burning streets, collapsing walls, the dark sky and the screams that echo through your ears... It was all very familiar to him.
  • Add: I guess I'm destined to choose doomsdays.
  • But Add still decided to enter Velder. He only needed information, and things like libraries might still be intact.

Somebody stands in the way of the boy heading towards the falling capital.

Quest Completion Dialogue
  • With the control of the kingdom gone, the soldiers had their hands full calming the panicked people so Add could enter Velder without trouble.
  • The people escaping looked at Add with surprise, confusion, and disbelief as he walked to the capital and not away.
  • Add: (Losing their cool and running away... I know the situation is dire, but it's hard to watch.)
  • The village he arrived after looking at the escaping crowd with cool eyes was at an even worse state than what was seen from afar. Velder was overflowing with people evacuating.
  • Add glanced around then headed inside. The evacuating people looked at Add weirdly again.
  • Add: What?
  • What irritated Add the most above the people sneaking glances was someone's hand that grabbed onto his arm without permission.
  • Civilian: Hey, where are you going?
  • Add: Huh, what?
  • Civilian: Is your family or friends inside? I don't know who you're looking for, but it's dangerous in there!
  • Add: ...... Tsk.
  • Add raised his eyebrows. Who's telling who it's dangerous. Getting in to other people's business when their own lives are on the line...
  • Add: ... Let me go! I'm not weak, so it doesn't matter.
  • Civilian: Ah, wait...!
  • The kind civilian tried to grab Add once more, but Add soon disappeared into the crowd.
  • Add's goal was the Velder Library.
  • 300 years was not a short time. And back then, what he learned from his father was knowledge about Nasods.
  • Add: (He learned everything he can from the Infinity Library, but there were information he couldn't get there either.)
  • Add: (I need knowledge that will close the 300 years gap.)
  • Add moved quickly and looked at the tragedy happening in Velder. Dark ash was falling like snow on top of fallen soldiers.
  • Add: Aren't they supposed to be soldiers from the capital? They were defeated too easily. How pathetic.
  • That moment, Add witnessed the soldiers fighting against the demon army.
  • Add: Oh? They are fighting quite valiantly.
  • Add: ... Hm?
  • The demons struggling against the fierce attack pulled out a glass vial. The demons that drank from the vial had their veins bulge out, temperature rise, and their muscles convulse lightly.
  • Soldier: AAAACK!!!
  • The immense difference in strength pushed the soldier back, and they soon fell apart. Add frowned.
  • Add: Doping? Kuhuhu, they're playing dirty tricks.
  • He didn't know much about medicine, but drugs that work immediately upon administrating that enhances power... will cause great strain on the body.
  • Add: It's like shaving off their lives as they're fighting. Foolish...
  • Add was about to pass when he stopped. Under the crimson sky, the soldiers were retreating slowly toward the bridge in midst of thick smoke.
  • Add: They seem well-trained... Fighting down the urge to turn back and run away.
  • Of course, if they did that, enemy weapons will rain down on their backs. But retreating won't be enough for them to escape the situation.
  • The moment, one soldier's movement caught his eyes.

Description

Watching the desperately fighting soldiers cause the boy to act in ways he usually won't.

Quest Completion Dialogue
  • The soldiers gave his comrades a signal and charged at the demons with one more soldier right at his back.
  • One was wielding a sword, and the other, magic. The two soldiers' attacks were not fatal, but enough to distract the demons, and that...
  • Add: Are they trying to buy time for the others to escape?
  • Sword Wielding Soldier: Triple Slash! Haaa!!!
  • Magic Wielding Soldier: Eeeeyaaaa!! Take that, Fire Wall!!!
  • The two soldiers screamed as they attacked. It was a silly sight, but was not amusing. Probably because the soldiers' faces were painted with anxiety, desperation, and fatigue.
  • Add didn't like that. Will the other soldiers survive thanks to those two? It didn't seem so.
  • If the group come across other demons before they escape, they might wipe out due to the two missing veteran members.
  • Add: It was unfortunate for those falling behind, but it was a sacrifice they should take in order to increase their overall chance of survival.
  • Add: ... Tsk.
  • Add looked down with disdain and used Dynamo to ambush the demon army.
  • Demon: Kuaaah!!
  • Sword Wielding Soldier: Pant... pant...!
  • Magic Wielding Soldier: W, where did that attack come from...?!
  • Sword Wielding Soldier: We don't have time to wonder. Let's go catch up with others!
  • The two soldiers were confused when the demons suddenly fell, but soon caught their breath and hurried to catch up with their comrades.
  • Add: Hmph. Expecting everyone's survival? Ridiculous.
  • Add looked down with narrowed eyes, but soon turned back. He also had something to do.
  • It wasn't hard to find the library. Most places like the library were somewhere easily approachable, and had to handle great weight and volume from the vast division of books.
  • The only problem was handling the demons that kept attacking him after drinking the odd potion.
  • The verse about Debrian medicine from his mother's papers echoed through his head, causing him to strike back ruthlessly.
  • When Add finally arrived at the library, he saw the library catching fire from the neighboring building. Add tsked.
  • Add: If I don't hurry, everything will burn down.
  • Books on Debrian will probably be forbidden, so they're probably in the deepest, or the most secretive parts of the library.
  • Add walked in the library with plans running through his head. But when he noticed an unexpected presence, who still haven't evacuated, he froze.
  • The old man, with his hair all grey, was facing away from the entrance, but turned his head slightly to talk to Add.
  • Head Librarian: What.

Description

The boy meets the old man with grey hair in front of the library that's about to catch fire.

Quest Completion Dialogue
  • Add: ... That's what I want to say. What are you still doing here? Don't you see that the building is on fire?
  • The old man hmmed, and slowly turned his head towards the library.
  • Head Librarian: I do.
  • Add: Ha...
  • Add was at a loss of words. The silence prevailed. It didn't seem like the old man will talk or move, so Add broke the silence.
  • Add: Who are you? Are there others inside?
  • Head Librarian: I am the head librarian of this place. Others already evacuated.
  • Add: What about you?
  • Head Librarian: I have to watch to the end.
  • Add: The end of the library?
  • Head Librarian: The end of the child.
  • Add was curt, but continued the conversation watching the old man's serious look.
  • Add: It didn't seem like the old man was implying that there's another person inside...
  • Head Librarian: Enough of that, what are you looking for?
  • The old man interrupted Add and cut to the chase. Add narrowed his eyes and looked at the old man, trying to gauge him.
  • Can he tell this old man his goal? He briefly pondered, but soon opened his mouth.
  • Add: ... I'm looking for books on Debrians. Though, it seems a bit too late now.
  • Head Librarian: C-900. El, 08.
  • Add: ... What?
  • Head Librarian: And C-901, 902, 903... They're all in one row, so you can bring them all at once. And...
  • The old man suddenly said.
  • Add: Wait, what are those odd codes?
  • Head Librarian: You come looking for books, and don't even know what index numbers are?
  • The old man raised his hand to point at the corner of 1st division.
  • Head Librarian: The fire hasn't reached that far. You should be able to get them if you hurry. Better you go than someone old like me.
  • Add: ... You're telling me to bring them?
  • The old man walked towards 3rd division. The fire hasn't caught on, but a bit of smoke was covering the place like a fog.
  • Head Librarian: Debrian, you say? I'll find those for you.
  • The old man disappeared after that. The sound of his shoes faded away.
  • Add: ... Is it a trade? He doesn't say much.
  • Add: ... In order, from C-901...
  • Add scratched his head and repeated the code the old man gave to him as he headed to 1st division.
