Tips and Details

Only the forward sword wave is actually on the same plane as you. The other two waves that move upward are both slanted, one going towards Elesis's left (into the background when facing right) by around 10 degrees, and one going towards her right (into the foreground when facing right) by around 20 degrees. As such, it can be a bit inconsistent for clearing vertical rooms, though it does allow it to hit targets in split paths such as Forgotten Elrian Sanctum.
Only wide enough targets can take all hits from the forward wave, while the two slanted waves going up can only deal full damage to targets that are both tall and wide enough and reach far enough into the respective plane of said wave. The wave going towards her left is slanted less, so it has an easier time doing so, but the wave going towards her right is unlikely to do full hits to any given target.
Most enemies will take 6 hits from a sword wave as it passes by. At point-blank, enemies will usually be hit around 11 times in total.
