Socketing Equipment
In Elsword, many equipment (Costume, Weapons, and Armors) contain sockets, which can be socketed with certain gems to add special effects to the equipment. These can range from increase in Critical Hit Rate to an increase in Element Resistance.
Guide
1) Open your inventory menu (i) and click on the 2nd button to the left (It has a gem icon). The cursor will then change into a sword icon with a small gem next to it.
2) Select the desired equipment from the inventory. Note that items currently equipped cannot be socketed and must be unequipped first.
3) A new window will then open, showing the item's available sockets. The amount of sockets available depends on its rarity; rarer equipment will have more sockets.
4) Drag the desired magic stone into the gray square and click on the button on the bottom right of the window.
5) You have now socketed your equipment! Repeat if you want different stats/higher values.
You can only socket gems if you have sufficient ED. This amount needed is shown in the box at the bottom of the window.
The higher the upgrade level the higher the chance of obtaining higher values.

Stones to socket equipment
In order to socket equipment, you must have certain magic stones. They range from basic to stat-specific stones. Basic stones give a random stat to an equipment, whereas stat-specific gems give a certain effect depending on the gem used.

Stat Specific Magic Stones
Dual Stat Magic Stones
These are special magic stones that give TWO effects on ONE socket. They can be made via the Alchemist, or acquired from some cubes.
These Magic Stones are no longer available through crafting in the KR server. However, you can still obtain them in Field Boss Cube or Raid Boss Cube.
Old Dual Stat Gems
These are special gems that give TWO effects on ONE socket. They cannot be obtained anymore.

Stat Calculation
For Stats other than HP
Formula for 1% is (level * 1.5) + 8
For HP
Formula for 1% is (level * 15) + 85
Critical and Additional Damage
- Normalization begins at 40%
- Normalization function is y = -0.4x2 + 1.32x - 0.064
- Maximum 100% for critical
Awakening Charge
- Normalization begins at 20%
- Will say (Normalized Adjusted) after 23%
- Because of this, normalization causes stats between 20% and 25% to be higher than unnormalized
- Normalization function is y = -0.6x2 + 1.27x - 0.03
- Maximum 50%
Reduced Damage
- Normalization begins at 20%
- Will say (Normalized Adjusted) after 23%
- Because of this, normalization causes stats between 20% and 21.18% to be higher than unnormalized
- Normalization function from
- 20% ~ 68.75% is y = -0.85x2 + 1.18x
- 68.75% and higher is y = 0.02x + 0.3957
All Other Stats
- Normalization begins after 20%
- Normalization function from
- 20% ~ 25% is y = 0.3x + 0.14
- 25% ~ 30% is y = 0.2x + 0.165
- 30% and higher is y = 0.05x + 0.21
Obtaining Stat Specific and Dual Stat Gems
These gems can be crafted at the Alchemist NPCs, purchasable from the Free Market, or obtainable during certain events. They require materials to craft them. Stat Specific gems require 2 Magic Stones and 4 Advanced Magic Stones. Be warned, the Stat specific gem you get is RANDOM. To craft Dual Stat Gems, they require Bethbites found only in 2-X, 3-X, 4-X, 6-X and 7-X or the Free Market.
Note: They are now obtainable through Camilla's store, as long as you meet the rank requirements.
