Every character in Elsword has his or her unique features that make him or her distinct.
Freiturnier
A special system for Chung which utilize the usage of cannonballs to aid him in combat.
Ammunition/Cannonballs
Chung's Ammunition Supply is one of his most notable and interesting features. Many of his skills are ammo-reliant. Skills such as Detonation and Lunatic Blow use up all of Chung's ammo, but increase in power based on how much ammo was used. Other skills such as Aiming Shot or Steel Edge use only one. Many of Chung's X attacks use ammo too.
To reload your ammo, stand still. This reload animation is affected by Attack Speed. You can also reload by using certain skills or combos, such as (). Passives like Reload Mastery and Remodel Magazine give Shelling Guardian and Shooting Guardian a chance to reload an extra cannonball, respectively. In addition, Remodel Magazine increases Shooting Guardian's ammo supply while Reload Mastery gives Shelling Guardian a chance of receiving ammo when attacked.
Berserk Mode
Chung's third awakening bead starts off being covered in chains. This does not prevent you from gaining it like any other awakening bead. It changes appearance when Berserk Mode is ready.
When Berserk Mode is activated, Chung is enveloped in his full Freiturnier armor (including the helmet) stored inside his suit's Guardian Stone, a special object that increases his fighting ability. The benefits of Berserk Mode are:
- The standard 20% damage increase from Awakening Mode.
- Infinite cannonball supply (Tactical Trooper's red cannonballs are unaffected)
- Intense Showtime for Deadly Chaser reduces the MP cost and cooldown times of his skills.
- Reaction Gloves for Tactical Trooper increases Damage Reduction based on the number of beads used to Awaken (Berserk Mode giving the highest Reduction output).
Heavy Stance
Whenever Chung is hit while he has a blue outline (e.g., the third attack of the ZZZ combo. Like Super Armor, it cannot be seen if unit graphics are not set to high), he switches to a guarding stance which gives 67% damage reduction. However, he will stagger after guarding around 5-6 hits or an attack that inflicts Power Stun.
While guarding, Chung can counterattack.
- Press to swing your cannon and inflict 150% Physical damage (dungeon modifier = 1.45) while knocking the target down. This can be cancelled immediately by dashing.
- Press to fire a short blast in both directions with invulnerability and inflict 350% Magical damage. If used very close to a foe, it can hit twice. This knocks down and uses one cannonball. If you have no cannonballs, the Z attack is used instead. Chung will have Heavy Stance for a fraction of a second during this counter, so if another hit lands on you during that period, the Heavy Stance's hit count will reset, allowing proper use to withstand consecutive hits.
The Heavy Stance counterattacks can be enhanced with certain passives.
- Veteran Technique gives Iron Paladin a chance to not knock down with the counter or wake-up attack (similar to Counter Chance).
- Cannoneer's Perseverance changes Tactical Trooper's Heavy Stance counterattacks into a cannon slam that reloads cannonballs, launches, and gives him a chance to enter Siege Shelling stance.
- Guard increases Heavy Stance's damage reduction for Iron Paladin.
Evasive Counter
When Chung gets knocked down, if you have at least one cannonball, press to shoot the floor and launch foes as you evade backward using the recoil. The attack does 270% Magical Damage (dungeon modifier = 1.45) and is affected by Veteran Technique.
Trivia
- Oddly, "Freiturnier" is German for "free tournament."
- Strangely, Chung's combo Heavy Stance's can withstand hits by behind, whereas Fury Guardian's Guard Heavy Stance cannot.
- When awakened, Chung shouts special actives' names instead of calmly stating them.
- Chung falls noticeably faster than all the other characters. This makes it harder for others to do combos on him which require the opponent to be launched.
- Chung was the first character to have a system related to consuming a certain number of awakening beads.
- Chung can more quickly reload his ammo by tapping the left or right key just after he had reloaded an ammo. This works in his idle-reload.
