In Elsword, equipment can be enhanced to increase their base stats. Most equipment will start without upgrades at enhancement level +0. However, some equipment found in dungeons or boxes can be enhanced at a random enhancement level, up to +9.
Enhancing Equipment
Equipment can be enhanced by a character with the Blacksmith profession or by a blacksmith NPC. Enhancing equipment will require ED and certain items, depending on the type of enhancement being performed.

Risks
When upgrading, you need to take caution that as you further upgrade your equipment, the risk of the item downgrading/breaking/resetting will increase.
From +2 → +3 onwards, upgrade may be unsuccessful
From +3 → +4 onwards, upgrade may downgrade when unsuccessful (from +3 to +2 etc)
From +6 → +7 onwards, upgrade may break or reset. A broken piece of equipment can no longer be equipped or sold until it is fixed with a repair scroll (bought from other players or in the cash shop). A reset will downgrade equipment back down to +0.
At reinforcement level +10, protection stones that prevent downgrading/resetting can no longer be used (though some servers sometimes hold events that temporarily allow use of protection stones on +10 equipment).
Benefits
By upgrading your items, the base stats will increase by a certain percentage. The higher the level, the more the base stats will increase. The base stats are the main stats that are given with any equipment. This does not include the bonuses written in green.
From +5 onwards, weapons will gain a shine effect where they will have light glaze over periodically.
From +7 onwards, light will glaze over your weapon constantly.
If you achieve +11, there will be a constant spark effect around your weapon.

Fluorite Stones
These are stones bought from the cash shop. They can be used alongside upgrades to ensure items will NOT degrade and will NOT reset. But there is a chance they still WILL break. Much like upgrade stones that vary in level ranges, Fluorite stones require a specific stone that meets the level range. To use them, you have to tick the box that was mentioned earlier in the picture.

Repair Scrolls
If an equipment breaks, it cannot be used unless you repair it with an item bought from the cash shop. To use them, you right click on the scroll and then click on the broken item. Much like Fluorite Stones, they range in level also.
Upgrade Scrolls
Items can be instantly upgraded to a certain level at a 100% rate by using upgrade scrolls. These can be obtained from events, opening boxes, Ice Burners and other players. To use them, simply right-click the scroll and then click on the equipment you wish to upgrade.
Trivia
- A false Enhancement Amulet Lvl.13 was offered as an April Fools gift. The description states the amulet is just a normal piece of paper with the number 13 scribbled on it.
