- Pluvia aurea is Latin for Golden Rain.
- The golden rain demonstration is a chemical reaction where two clear solutions, potassium iodide and lead(II) nitrate, react to form the yellow precipitate lead(II) iodide which resembles golden flecks. The lead(II) iodide will dissolve when heated, turning the solution clear again.
