2:Before Joining 2

Before Joining 2

After buying the recipe off the adventurer and creating the potion for herself alongside a cure just in case, the reality of the scam became quickly known as all the mana expelled from her body and she was left in a feverous state. The others of the Landar camp told her that Mathi had too fallen prey to the scam and Aisha sought to gloat at the boy. But instead she began to feel sorry for him and gave him her cure. Suffering from her own fever, somebody later came in to console her and provided her with a new cure.

  • Clear 5 dungeons within level range (excluding Ruben/Henir/Ereda)
Description

She should be able to regain her lost mana! The girl's eyes shined with hope.

Quest Completion Dialogue
  • Aisha read the recipe after paying the man significantly.
  • Adventurer: You'e made the right choice, young lady. You can't get this anywhere else. It's a secret recipe that only a few people from this region know!
  • Adventurer: I was thrilled to see this one survive when everything else burnt to crips. You're lucky you got this. This is really hard to come by, you know?
  • The adventurer kept sweet talking the deal. Though he seemed satisfied, Aisha thought he was worried she might change her mind.
  • Aisha: (Sigh... I would have bought it even if it's nothing since I'm the reason his stuff caught on fire...)
  • She would have haggled normally, but this time, she decided to pay almost (it's dumb not to negotiate) full price.
  • Aisha: (I suppose you can say, it's the price of guilty conscience.)
  • Aisha took a brief glance at the adventurer's burnt bag but turned her attention back to the recipe, taking in every detail.
  • Aisha: (The ingredients that are used... are ones that are often used in normal mana amplifier potions as well. The method used in it are also very similar, and it has detailed information on how you should treat the ingredients.)
  • Aisha concluded it wasn't just put together to scam people. It was obvious from the language that was used and the detailed information on the ingredients that this was written by someone with a lot of knowledge on magic.
  • Aisha: (Other than that... It's noteworthy that there are some ingredients that are only available from this region, but he did say it was a method only known in this region. I guess it's not too out of the ordinary.)
  • Aisha: (And the ingredients should be easy enough to get... Huh...)
  • Aisha: (It actually seems pretty legit. Is this actually the real deal?)
  • Aisha's eyes widened.
  • It's not too common, but some regions and race had special magic that wasn't well known even though it's vastly useful because it wasn't officially registered magic.
  • Aisha: (As a clan of magicians with the responsibility to research and spread knowledge on magic, we need to find and encourage and so on... It's something Grandpa used to say often. Was he talking about something like this?)
  • As Aisha glared at the recipe and mumbled, the adventurer laughed, saying how he knew she would understand it's true value.
  • Adventurer: If you want, I can get the ingredients for you as well. Just let me know if you want anything.
  • Ha! As if! Aisha thought to herself. She could just feel that he was trying to rip her off. Now way! She knew she could get it so much cheaper if she worked for it.
  • Aisha hurried to leave after ending the conversation. But something crossed her mind at the last moment, and she had to ask.
  • Aisha: Um, did you sell this recipe to anyone else?
  • Adventurer: Hm? Ah yes, there was one more. A young boy, that was even younger than you.
  • Aisha: I thought so...
  • Aisha: (So this was what he was talking about. Cheeky brat. He thought he could take my place using something like this?)
  • Aisha headed to the streets with the alchemy shop. Since she already read his move, you could say she basically won.
  • Aisha: Alright, then let's get to making this legendary mana amplifier potion... and the cure!

The girl decides to risk it.

Quest Completion Dialogue
  • One might think, a cure? But Aisha knew it was necessary.
  • Even though the recipe looked legit, she had no way to tell what kind of results it might yield without proper verification. It was possible that the effects would be short-lived, or may even have serious side effects.
  • Aisha: (That's why I need to make this mana amplifier potion and a cure that counters its effects at the same time!)
  • Aisha: (Thought I'm not that well-versed in alchemy, I should be able to figure it out, since I know all the ingredients. Huhu, I'm not called a genius for nothing!)
  • Like a sailboat that meets fair wind, the potions were complete in the blink of an eye. After cooling it, Aisha poured it in a cup and watched the liquid shimmer with mysterious colors like the stars in the night sky.
  • It was exactly as the recipe said. Aisha calmed her breathing and took in one shot.
  • Aisha: Oh...! Ooooh...! I can feel great mana!
  • Aisha: It works! It actually works! This power... If this is the effect after just one cup, I can...
  • ... Boom!
  • ... ... ...
  • Melinda: Sigh... So what is it this time...
  • Aisha could only grunt in response to Ms. Melinda. Everything felt sore and she was exhausted, like she was suffering a fever.
  • And she couldn't feel a drop of mana.
  • Aisha: ... Mana amplifier potion...
  • When Aisha grumbled, everyone seemed sympathetic.
  • Melinda: Ah, you mean the special recipe of this region? I can't believe they would use that to scam others.
  • Denev: You know of it, Ms. Melinda?
  • Melinda: Of course! You know about the cancelus leaves, right? It's an herb used to make antidotes. You need to be careful when harvesting them, since it's so sensitive to mana, even a touch would cause it to lose some of its effects.
  • Melinda: So before, people used to drink this before harvesting, since if you drink them, your body forcefully expels all mana and leave you empty for a couple of days.
  • Denev: Aha, so it just looks like it amplifies magic, but in actuality, it's a mana removal, with a temporary side effect that makes it seem like it amplifies mana?
  • Melinda: Precisely. Now, with the popularization of Yggdrasil, cancelus leaves are rarely used, so that potion has also fell out of favor.
  • Denev: And because only a handful of people know of the potion, he decided to use it to scam others. How deplorable.
  • Aisha: I knew it! That good-for-nothing...!
  • Aisha shook with rage as she stumbled across the room to reach into her bag.
  • Melinda: No need to strain yourself, Aisha. I believe you would have cold-like symptoms for around 2 days. Your mana should also return if you rest easy in about a week or so.
  • Aisha: A week? I can't wait that long. I made the cure just in case something like this would happen.
  • Denev: You drank it even though you thought it could be a scam? I don't know if you could consider it brave at that point.
  • Melinda: Though I'm glad you did. Would you be willing to share the recipe?
  • Aisha: What for?
  • Melinda: You know Mathi... He's lying in that room over there. He fell for the same trick around half an hour before you did.
  • Aisha: Is that so? Ha! He was completely fooled! I won!
  • Aisha was thrilled, heading to Mathi's room even with her body aching all over. She was planning to drink the cure right before his eyes. I bet he would be so mad!
  • Melinda: Hey! Where are you going! You should really rest!
  • Aisha: Later!
  • Aisha: (That brat! End of the era my butt! I'll make sure he won't ever say anything like that again!)

Quest Completion Dialogue
  • When she entered the room, Mathi was lying down shivering, with his back facing the door. He must be furious. Aisha was sure she had this victory under her bag.
  • Aisha: Mana enhancement? That was your trick up your sleeves?
  • Mathi: .......
  • Hmph! You must be furious for falling for that trick if you can't even answer. But you'll be mistaken if you thought I'll let you go easy!
  • Aisha: You know, that potion was actually a mana removal. I suppose you'll have to stay down without even dreaming about magic ever again!
  • As she approached him step by step, teasing, Aisha finally noticed something off.
  • Aisha: ... Wait, are you crying?
  • Mathi: Ugh, uhh, sniff...
  • Mathi was crying with his face buried in the pillow. Startled, Aisha tried to console Mathi.
  • Aisha: Hey! I didn't mean it! The effects are not permanent! Uh... yeah! You should be fine in a week!
  • Aisha: Oh goodness... there's no reason to cry! I thought you were going to be the greatest magician!
  • Mathi: sniff, home... sniff...
  • Aisha: Huh? Do you need something? Should I go get it?
  • Mathi: I want to go home...
  • Aisha froze. She knew he wasn't talking about the Landar family home.
  • Aisha recalled the conversation earlier. He was taken in because he showed promise. He must miss his home.
  • Mathi: They said becoming a magician is amazing... So I promised... I promised I would return after become a great magician...
  • The sound of sobbing.
  • Mathi: But I don't want to anymore...! I want to go home. Sniff... Mommy...
  • Aisha: .......
  • Aisha: (For all he acted all grown up, he's really just a kid, who missed his mommy when he's sick. What did I do all that for...)
  • Aisha stared at the cure she hid behind her back and hesitated.
  • Aisha: (Right now, I'm sure he just let out all his pend up emotion because he's sick, but...)
  • Aisha handed him the cure.

Quest Completion Dialogue
  • Aisha: Ahhh!! It really is the worst!
  • Aisha screamed with frustration, but regretted it instantly. Her head was throbbing because of that. It's like golems are thumping around inside her head!
  • Aisha: Ughh... I give him the cure because I feel sorry for him, and he doesn't even come to say thank you? Rude!
  • Aisha: Ah! I really shouldn't have given him the cure! I should have left him to suffer for several more days!
  • Now that they know the recipe for the cure, they will be making hers soon, but she will be sick until the cure it ready. It's probably better to just sleep it off.
  • Aisha seethed with pain and regret until she finally fell asleep.
  • ... ... ... ...
  • Slip... Aisha woke up feeling the soft, cool feeling touching her forehead.
  • Who is it? What time is it? She tried to open her eyes, but her eyelids felt so heavy.
  • ???: Your temperature went down.
  • It was a kind voice. She wanted to ask who it was, but couldn't. She must have made a sound like a whine. The person laughed slowly.
  • ???: Thanks to you, he recovered completely. He's embarrassed, so he's trying to hide it, but it seems he was worried about you.
  • Aisha: (He's already out and about? Task... jealous...)
  • ???: ... Thank you for letting him have the cure. You've really done something great.
  • The hand on the forehead went away as the person told Aisha. Aisha wished the hand would stay just a bit longer.
  • ???: Everyone wants to be good at magic, but they don't think about how to use it well.
  • Aisha: (What are you trying to say?)
  • There was silence, until it was replaced by a chattering sound.
  • ???: Mathi is well, thanks to the cure you've made, bt his mana recovery is going slow. I've looked thought the recovers, and it seems the mana removal has a component that hinders natural recovery for a certain duration after taking it.
  • Aisha could hear the rustling of fabric. It seemed the person was reaching inside a pocket.
  • ???: That's probably why. You used all the right ingredients, but when you're making potions to cure poison or remove curses, you're supposed to use 3 times the ingredients you are trying to counter.
  • She thought she understood. Kind of.
  • ???: So I mixed in some more ingredients I thought would help from your recipe.

  • Clack, something hit the table.

  • The person placed the wet towel on her head, spread out her sheets, and mumbled a spell, before quietly leaving the room.

  • ???: I need to go now. You should sleep some more. Drink this after you wake up. It should help.
  • Aisha: (Thank you.)
  • The wet cloth seemed to clear her mind.
  • Aisha: (Unlike Mathi... I'm home.)
  • When she got better, Aisha found the adventurer that tricked her to teach him a lesson. And then went on to fight magical golems and was instrumental in unleashing an ancient temple.
  • But that is a story for another day.
  • Feeling the refreshing air, Aisha fell asleep.
