Trials of Elsword
Developer Kill3rCombo
Platform Facebook
Release Dates May 19, 2011

Basic Information

Trials of Elsword was an experimental Facebook tie-in game based on Elsword Online developed by Kill3rCombo. The game had a very short run following the official launch of Elsword Online in May of 2011. It ran on the Unity engine and was playable in the browser through its respective Facebook app. The game was advertised as a demo to the main game, with the incentive of obtaining redeemable rewards in the main game. This was to give players a sample of what to expect in the main game, as well as offer exciting rewards to existing Elsword players.

Characters

Trials of Elsword features 3 playable characters based on their base jobs in the main game.

Gameplay Modes

Trials of Elsword offered two modes of gameplay.

Story Mode

Hack and slash your way to the boss to get rewards. Invite friends to open all the characters.

Story mode is the main mode of gameplay which allows players to endure increasingly challenging levels, and to unlock additional characters by inviting friends to play. Due to the game's short lifespan, the only known stage is what appears to be a variant of White Mist Swamp.

Challenge Mode

How many monsters can you kill in 1 minute? Beat your friends scores.

Challenge mode is a boss rush mode, in which the goal is to acquire as many points as possible. Your scores would be ranked against your friends, allowing you to compete for the highest score.

Rewards

Rewards were obtained in the form of redeemable coupon codes that you could enter in the Item Mall of the main game. There were two obtainable rewards which could be obtained by completing various tasks.

Trivia

  • The name "Trials of Elsword" is likely a play on words, alluding to the fact that the game is merely a trial version of the main game.
  • Since the game's only incarnation was in a very early development stage, there were numerous bugs and mistakes that plagued the game.
    • The game was known to freeze on the victory screen for some players, which prevented them from receiving their rewards.
    • The skills for all 3 characters used Mega Slash's icon ingame, instead of Aisha and Rena having the proper icon for theirs.
