The skill must be held for the entire half-second to do any more than base damage.
The skill will automatically fire when held for 2 seconds.
Although not stated in the tooltip, you'll gain Super Armor for the entire skill animation, which makes the Skill Trait Powerful obsolete.
Compared to the normal version of this skill, the casting animation is more fluid and faster, making it easier to use another skill afterwards.
