  •   Melinda: Good thing our camp happened to be here. Really, just what were you thinking going to that forest! You know that forest is infested with monsters.
  • Though I was thankful that people from the Landar camp saved me from the monsters, I was embarrassed that my family had to see me this way.
  • But it's impolite not to say anything. Now, Aisha! Be calm and show some dignity. Like it's nothing special!
  • Though she didn't particularly feel like tea, Aisha took a sip to feign calmness.
  • But that proved to be a mistake, as the burning hot tea seemed to cook her mouth and throat. She felt tears gather, but she desperately swallowed the tea and answered the question.
  •   Aisha: ... I went to find the ingredients for a potion.
  •   Melinda: A potion? What for?
  • Ugh, I should have expected them to ask this question. Aisha briefly contemplated to make an excuse, but decided to answer truthfully.
  •   Aisha: ... To... increase... my mana...
  • There was a brief moment of silence, broken by a roaring round of laughter.
  •   Pavel: The Great Aisha? Making such a rookie mistake?
  •   Melinda: Aw, don't be like that. It's a phase everyone goes through. Being scolded for trying all sorts of things to increase their mana is a natural part of growing up.
  •   Pavel: You have a lot of mana since you were little, so you never done anything like this. To think you would fall for the same inclination now that you're lacking mana.
  •   Aisha: (Uuugh, it's humiliating that they're treating me like an average kid.)
  •   Denev: Since she was little? She's still very young, isn't she?
  • A brunette asked.
  •   Melinda: I suppose you wouldn't know. Aisha really was one of a kind. She mastered fire magic just by watching over Master Kuenbaran. She just turned 5 at the time, I believe?
  •   Denev: She mastered fire magic by herself when she was 5 years old? That's amazing!
  •   Melinda: I was there. I told her that although impressive, she shouldn't use fire magic since it's too dangerous, and you know what she said to me?
  • Nooo! Stop bringing up all these embarrassing stories! Aisha screamed internally. That was ages ago! I'm 14 this year, you know!
  •   Melinda: She said, 'It's not dangerous if I shoot at the sky, right?' and shot at the sky!
  •   Melinda: So a huuuge meteor fell from the sky right in the middle of the day. It was truly a spectacle.
  • Everyone laughs again. Though she knew they meant no harm, it was still upsetting. She 'was' one of a kind?
  •   Aisha: (Was? Don't make that a past tense! I'm still one of a kind! An amazing genius magician!)
  • This was hurting her pride, but it was to be expected the moment she met her relatives. Aisha tried to hid her disgruntled feelings and was about to explain her situation to receive advice, when...
  •   Mathi: What? So the era of the great Aisha is no more?
  • Ack! What is he talking about?! Aisha could no longer hide her frustration and frowned.

  •   Aisha: Mathi!! I dare you to say that in front of me, one more time!!
  •   Mathi: Haha, so defensive! I guess the rumors that you can't use magic any more is true?
  •   Mathi: Well, it's a little sooner than I've planned, but I guess I'll have to take your spot as the genius magician!
  • (BOOM!)
  •   Mathi: Gah!
  •   Aisha: Even if I only have a drop of mana left, I can still defeat a twerp like you!
  •   Mathi: Grr...! Hmph! Well you'll see! I still have something big up my sleeves!
  •   Mathi: I'm gonna show the world that you don't have to be a Landar to be a genius magician!
  •   Aisha: As if! You're just a kid.
  •   Mathi: Hmph! Whatever! Bleehh!
  • When Aisha raised her hand to cast another spell, Mathi quickly ran away. Aisha clenched her fist in anger.
  •   Pavel: Mathi... He's Linda's apprentice, right? Where did he come from?
  •   Melinda: Hm... I don't remember. I think Linda said he was a fisherman's kid, but she took him in when he showed promise.
  •   Pavel: Silly kid. What else is a magician that learns under a Landar if not a Landar? Haha.
  •   Melinda: He is very diligent, studying all night long. He really improved a lot recently.
  •   Melinda: Perhaps he really will become the next genius magician after Aisha! Haha.
  •   Aisha: Hmph, no way!
  • Aisha pouted as she grumbled. I can't believe I fell so far that a kid thinks he can surpass me... It's so annoying!
  • Ugghh, whatever. I'll stop thinking about it. Aisha changed the subject.
  •   Aisha: I wanted to find the guy that stole the Ring of Mimir right away, but I couldn't because he immediately disappeared without a trace.
  •   Aisha: And of course I'm planning to catch the culprit, but it's so inconvenient that I just want to increase my mana even if I have to use potions to do so!
  •   Pavel: Don't be like that, how about trying to exercise restraint when using magic for now on?
  •   Aisha: What? But that's so troublesome!
  •   Melinda: You know that's how the rest of us use magic! You just happened to be born with a lot of magic. It was a privilege!
  •   Pavel: Didn't Grandfather tell you? A great magician knows how to show restraint.
  •   Aisha: Hm... But maybe a truly great magician don't ever have to show restraint.
  • Aisha pouted.
  •   Aisha: Well... I suppose I understand what you mean. And I guess I have no other option right now. I suppose I can try.
  •   Aisha: It can't be that hard.

The girl is frustrated with her current situation.

Quest Completion Dialogue
  • A cafe at the village near the camp. Aisha took a seat after ordering a drink and grabbed her head after writing something down. She felt an impending headache.
  • She did just say that restraint was no big deal... but that really wasn't the only problem.
  • With most of her mana gone, there were now magic she could no longer cast.
  • The reason why she was chased by monsters earlier was also because the fire magic she used to cast frequently went haywire after she lost control and she missed her opportunity to ambush.
  •   Aisha: (Ugh, I'm just glad it didn't lead to a forest fire.)
  •   Aisha: Sigh... Anyway, it seems I can no longer use spells that require a lot of mana.
  • As she kept jotting down the spells she can and cannot cast anymore, she noticed the list of spells she cannot cast just kept getting longer and sighed. She was feeling really frustrated.
  • Of course, she's not completely out of options. Many magicians used various tools to aid their magic.
  • Like throwing orbs, potions, herbs, flint, ropes, jewels, enchanted robes and tools...
  • The possibility was endless like a walking closet. Of course, these things cost a hefty amount, so it's no wonder people called magicians wealthy brokes.
  • It was just a shame because Aisha never needed these support items before due to the astounding amount of mana she was born with.
  • Perhaps she was in no place to complain as she just became like an 'average magician'...
  •   Aisha: (Maybe it's time to say goodbye to the days when I only needed to grab my staff and my backpack to go.)
  • Aisha imagined herself traveling with the camp.
  • Large caravans with countless magic support items moving in a line. Raising tents when a suitable place is found, then leaving when it's time.
  • Managing materials being used, discarding herbs or potions that pass expiration, and sending reports to the main Landar branch...
  • Not only that, since she would need to use Landar money to purchase support items, she would need to write proposals and send them to the family to get it approved beforehand.
  • Up until now, she could just take on missions whenever she ran out of money, but she wouldn't even be able to do that anymore. And if she did, she would have to write reports on it.
  • Same thing if she broke or damaged the materials by accident. She will have to write statements and another proposal for a new budget, wait for approval, redo the report if it's rejected, then...
  • The overwhelming feeling of frustration was really giving her a headache. Aisha slammed her head on the table and made a frustrated noise.
  •   Aisha: Aack! I can't live like that!!
  • Is this how a bird with broken wings feels? Oh, woe is me! It just wasn't fair! Aisha shook with frustration.
  •   Aisha: If it weren't for the ring! If it weren't for that guy!
  • Aisha was still grumbling with her head on the table when somebody dragged the chair next to her and sat down.
  •   ???: Hey kid, are you also a magician?

An adventurer approaches the girl and makes a tempting offer.

Quest Completion Dialogue
  •   ???: I heard the Landars formed a camp near the village, but I guess it's true.
  • Aisha narrowed her eyes at the suspiciously friendly man. A guy like him were one or the either. A merchant, or a fraud... or both.
  • The man must have taken her looks to mean 'if you have something to say, just say it' as he just swallowed and went straight to business.
  •   ???: I have something a magician would be interested in, how about it?
  • Aisha hid her disgust. This just screamed scam! Of course! Since magicians have a lot of money! Aisha purposefully gathered her papers roughly and got ready to leave.
  •   Aisha: I don't need it. And what's talking like and old man? You don't even look that old.
  •   ???: Hey, hey, no need to rush. Just hear me out! I swear you'd be interested!
  •   Aisha: Yeah right! I bet it's something suspicious with the way you're bringing it up with hushed ones. Why would I buy anything that suspicious?
  •   ???: Hey! If it's really that suspicious, would I sell it in the middle of the day where there's a lot of people? Fine, I apologize for approaching you so rudely.
  • Perhaps he realized a friendly approach wasn't working, because he scooted in to sit more properly and began to more polite approach.
  •   Adventurer: You see, I'm not actually a merchant, but an adventurer. But on my way here, I lost all my belongings. I mean, who would have thought a giant fireball will fall from the sky in the middle of the forest?
  •   Aisha: Cough!
  • Aisha choked on the drink she was chugging to leave quickly. A fireball in the forest? Could it be my fire spell...?

  • Adventurer: You think it's absurd too, right? But it actually happened! It was just minding my own business as I was walking through the forest on my way here...

  • Adventurer: When boom! Something flashed behind me. I thought it was lightning or something! I know we had clear skies, but it seemed more realistic than a giant fireball.

  • Adventurer: So my things are burning, the fire is about to spread, what can a man do other than use everything he's got including the clothes behind his back to turn off the fire?

  • Aisha covered her face pretending that she's doing so because she was choking. The man took that as a sign and continued with his rant.
  • Adventurer: So now I'm broke. I need to sell anything I can to get funds. I'm just asking to take a look. Since I'm the reason you could get that drink.
  • Aisha: Cough! Wh, what does my drink have to do with anything?
  • Adventurer: If it weren't for me taking out that fire, it would have spread until everyone in the village would have needed to evacuate! You could even say that you owe me that drink.
  • Aisha: Yeah right. It's not like you're going to pay for it...
  • Though Aisha was grumbling, it seemed the man caught on that she was more sympathetic because he was now trying to gain her pity.
  •   Aisha: Agh! Fine! I get it! So stop making that face! I'll hear you out.
  • The man reached to his bag, saying something like she won't regret it. It seems he wasn't lying from the burn marks on his bag. I can't believe this is really my life!
  •   Adventurer: What I have, is information. And it's something a magician can't let it pass. It's the recipe for a potion that greatly increases your mana!
  •   Aisha: What?!
  • Right now? Like this? And something I need the most? Aisha's eyes widened. It's so suspicious! If something like that existed, everyone would have known about it!
  • As Aisha was just about to retort, Mathi's face flashed across her head. Saying he's got something up his sleeves, or the fact that he improved a lot...
  • (Ahh! I know! I know it's reaaally stupid...)
  •   Aisha: Hmm, uh... greatly... how?
  • Aisha decided to take the bait.
