"I will make you feel pain! You are only worthy to say my name when you have defeated me."

Lord of Pain RisingYin

Background

RisingYin roamed around Velder in his heavy armor. In fact, we don't think he takes it off when he showers. He believed everyone was jealous of his powers and keeps it on in order to protect himself if he's ever ambushed. The demon that bonded into the armor has taken over his true personality. His armor can be damaged but his claw can still tear enemies apart. One day, he encountered DeprivedDeprived in the forest and they fought day and night. No one dared enter the forest until the clashing sound of swords stopped. Now... there is a search party looking for Colonel Deprived.

Combo Modifications

RisingYin has access to all of the Reckless Fist combos with the following modifications:

  1. Over Taker's xxvx is converted to a flurry of X-Crash-like claw hits before launching with two Nasod Claw spikes.

Skills

Icon Skill Type Cooldown Description Special Effects
Increased Mana Regeneration
Passive
N/A
Like all NPCs, RisingYin benefits from a heightened mana regeneration rate. All NPCs will have an extremely fast passive mana regeneration rate, and will also receive bonus MP when either hitting or being hit by players. Because of this passive, NPC skills are bound only by cooldown and not by their MP cost. Furthermore, NPCs can mana break combos at virtually any time.
Awakening
Passive
N/A
RisingYin can activate Awakening under 50% HP. RisingYin's awakening will significantly improve the damage of Wild Charge.
Roar
Special Active
N/A
RisingYin unleashes a mighty roar that manifests itself as a blue aura that rapidly travels across the entire map. This skill will instantly take away 33% of your HP and 400 MP upon contact. Will hit the entire map, but can be dodged with a well-timed special active. RisingYin will only use this skill if you have been outside of his vision for a long time (prevents charging MP off-screen).
File:Shadow of Death.png
Scar of Pain
Passive
N/A
RisingYin's basic attacks and actives ignore 100% of the target's defense. This passive essentially gives RisingYin the strongest combos of any Epic NPC; for this reason, it is essential for players to mana break immediately when they are caught in RisingYin's combo.
Counter Chance
Passive
N/A
When RisingYin falls down, he can tap X to sweep his sword in a broad sweeping motion that does not knock down. RisingYin will use this skill while you are close by after every knock down; be careful, because he was extremely high attack speed and can activate his counter chance very quickly.
Spiritualised Fury
Passive
N/A
RisingYin can activate awakening repeatedly. This skill gives RisingYin the unique ability to awaken more than once, unlike any other NPCs, as NPC awakenings tend to be permanent. However, RisingYin's AI does not use this ability very frequently; nor do NPCs tend to use awakening offensively in general.
Weapon Break
Active
10 Seconds
RisingYin crushes his opponent's weapon with his claw, reducing their damage by 70%. RisingYin retains the original Weapon Break, making his damage reduction much stronger than Over Taker's. RisingYin will only use this active as part of his combo.
Shadow Piercing
Active
N/A
RisingYin lunges forward with a Shadow Step, dealing heavy damage to anyone he pierces. RisingYin has a 100% chance of not knocking down with Shadow Pierce.
Ground Break
Active
N/A
RisingYin smashes the ground with his claw, creating a small quake that launches opponents into the air. RisingYin will only use this active as part of his combo.
Charged Bolt
Special Active
5 Seconds
RisingYin surrounds himself with a black sphere that sends out piercing black needles all around him. Slightly larger than Over Taker's Charged Bolt.
Valkyrie's Javelin
Special Active
10 Seconds
RisingYin jumps into the air, summoning a number of black javelins that crash onto the ground and explode. A direct clone of Over Taker's Valkyrie's Javelin. RisingYin does not have as much delay executing this skill, permitting him to combo immediately after while you are thrown into the air.
Wild Charge
Special Active
10 Seconds
RisingYin unleashes a devastatingly strong punch. RisingYin charges Wild Charge immediately, unleashing full damage without any delay. For this reason, he never needs to charge Wild Charge. The range is shorter than the original.
Nuclear
Special Active
30 Seconds
RisingYin summons a Nuclear Missile in front of him, creating a giant mushroom cloud that obliterates everything caught in it. Much weaker than the Over Taker equivalent of Nuclear.

Strategy

Arguably the strongest of the Monster Trio, RisingYin's passive "Scar of Pain" makes him pose a threat to even overgeared players: even with +11 armor, there's no avoiding that he will be able to whittle down your HP from full to none in just a few short combos should he catch you, thanks to his ability to ignore all defense. To add insult to injury, RisingYin is capable of a full-strength Weapon Break, meaning that not only do his combos soak up all of your HP, but they also cripple your ability to damage him as well. His skills aren't bad at all either, as he has access to Wild Charge and Nuclear. While they aren't as strong as the ones that Reckless Fist can whip out, RisingYin compensates with his near unlimited mana pool, which permits him to repeatedly whip out these still extremely damaging skills on you with reckless abandon (pardon the pun). Finally, RisingYin can Roar like Q-PROTO_00 and Deprived, which forces you to actively stay in the game with no reprieve from his constant barrage of attacks.

You must keep at least 75 MP at all times to break any combo RisingYin manages to get you into. The Scar of Pain passive that RisingYin sports makes his combos into the strongest in the entire game - even one loop from him will do comparable damage to a full combo loop from the average player character. To add insult to injury, RisingYin's AI tends to chain his Actives into his combos - and this means plenty of weapon breaks, which makes you useless damage-wise for a full 20 seconds. Thus, it is crucial that you mana break every often - and this strategy hinges upon you not getting into many combos in the first place.

Generally speaking, RisingYin has similar catches to Deprived, relying on his extreme speed to catch. As with Deprived, do not clash with him head on - trying to clash his ^z, for instance, is a futile task considering his 30% attack speed bestowing a far greater recovery pace than whatever you can dish out. Rather, focus on intercepting his Shadow Strafes, and catching him on a horizontal basis. Zone him to avoid his superior melee range, and attack in between intervals - v is highly aggressive and will move forward to close distances, providing you with an opportunity to intercept. RisingYin has a particular weakness from attacks that come from above, as well, so make full use of platforms to drop down on him.

In terms of skills, while they are painful, they do not pose as much as a threat as RisingYin's combos. Charged Bolt knocks down very easily; and for RisingYin's other skills, he tends to use them as catches when are you are running away from him. Wild Charge is the major threat damage-wise here; it can deal some fairly severe damage to you if he manages to hit with it, and comes out of virtually nowhere. However, keep close at hand to RisingYin, and you should be seeing very few skills at all.

Gameplay

Trivia

  • RisingYin was once the Royal Knight of Velder, under Noah's team.
  • When fighting Spriggan, RisingYin was able to obtain Spriggan's armor. However, the armor was cursed, controlling RisingYin and leaving him in a state of extreme eternal pain.
  • The cursed armor caused him to develop a hatred of the world, believing that everyone should ought to feel the same pain as him.
  • His attacks, which can pierce all defenses, are called the "Scar of Pain". With this power, he became the Lord of Pain.
  • RisingYin has a deep desire for a rematch with Deprived, who were rivals prior to the two of them becoming cursed. Deprived and RisingYin had agreed to fight, but Deprived disappeared due to the curse of his sword. RisingYin has a desire to find his old friend to continue the battle.
    • He joins the arena to fight Deprived, who agrees to meet him there.
