It would be fairly unusual of Elesis to lie like that, though not impossible.

In any case, I decided to go through all the primary canon (Before Joining + Epic Quests) again involving this, and as far as I can tell, Before Joining must occur just barely after the events of Altera, at the onset of the demon invasion.

Chung asks the Red Knights for aid against enemies that they describe in a way that matches Elesis's knowledge of demons from her encounter with Chloe. As such, the full scale demon invasion must have just started, and at this point in time, the ESP is in Ruben to recuperate until they get a distress call from Feita.

Before Joining!Elesis is already Grand Master (or at the very least, Saber Knight), in my opinion. And her line in chapter 10 "I guess we barely missed each other." on passing through Feita ahead of the ESP isn't a hyperbole, it really was "just barely", a matter of weeks at most. Velder (and by extension Feita) must have fallen not soon after she departed (gee what a coincidence, wouldn't you say, Owen?)
