Story Summary: Difference between revisions

Inside the dungeon, [[Mao]] begins to wonder if [[Kallon]] really did do something to get arrested, if he had done something in the past. Being suspicious of the demons in the castle and why her grandpa lived far away from the rest of the people. But she still cares for him and want to rescue him. They overhear a guard approaching and they hide from sight, sneaking by the guards patrolling the dungeon. One of the prisoners call out to them, and reveals himself to be the previous lord of the town. He tells the two girls that [[Nenya]] and him army came and imprisoned him, and worries why the two girls would be in such a place. He hopes that the situation could be resolved once the central capital's army comes to the region, and suggests they wait it out. Mao tells the lord the unfortunately truth that the capital is still in shambles for quite some time. Learning that the lord fears for his own life since Nenya likely only kept him around in the event inspectors from the capital came. [[Laby]] tries to break the lord free but he insists that he is in no position or state to help them out, and he wishes not to abandon his fellow citizens who were also imprisoned. They are spotted by the guards, Laby and Mao fend them off and then manage to start freeing the inmates. They find Kallon and try to save him but an alarm rings and the warden, [[Deborah]], shows up. Deborah notices the children and criticizes Kallon for playing family with humans, Kallon then criticizing her for being disloyal to their original lord, [[Aegirp]]'s, orders. Deborah expresses her frustrations with their previous lord and how her seemingly abandoned them all this time. Kallon admits he sympathized with her but could not accept that they've rolled over for Nenya. Deborah fights them but Laby and Mao manage to defeat the demon, allowing for the other prisoners to escape. Kallon takes the opportunity to talk with his former comrade, he tells her that Aegirp believed that interchange between demons and humans was of most important, that even a foot soldier like her must've been chosen with care for the task. Deborah expresses her wavering faith in their lord's belief, but Kallon tells her that the time he spent till the point has proven their dream to be possible. Laby and Mao come and suspect with Nenya controlling the demons forces they must confront him directly to deal with the greater issue, all of them together head upwards to track down Nenya. Deborah seeing the child call Kallon her grandpa, starts to see that maybe Aegirp's dreams were possible.

They manage to free the rest of the prisoners, including the former lord. He thanks them and admits he greatly underestimated their powers and the power of humans. Now freed, the prisoners agree to fight alongside them to fend of the demons outside. The lord informs them that Nenya's chamber is located at the top floor with security likely being tighter due to the situation. Kallon speaks with a number of the prisoners while he was captive and gathers that Nenya is likely one of the demon who invaded the capital several years ago. He believed Nenya had ambitions to stay in Northern Fluone after the other forces left and take over the region for himself, however knowing the small province lacked the man power to do so, he suspects Nenya arrested him for knowledge to create a demon portal. Scaling the castle's interior they are confronted by Nenya's generals. Deborah returns but Nenya has taken control of her, after they defeated her, she reveals that her and her soldiers had taken in Nenya's power when they joined, giving them strength but allowing Nenya to have complete control over them if he wished. She tells them they must kill Nenya to free them and directs them to his chamber. They reach his lavish chamber and Nenya appears before them, he asks if Kallon reconsidered his offer, but Kallon swiftly once again declines, even saying even if he wished, he did not have the power to make a demon portal. Nenya tells him that Aegirp is long dead and they should take full advantage of what they have here, saying that he was killed by a joint effort between [[Barkat]] and [[Berthe]]. Kallon not believe his words one bit, knowing his lord would not fall so easily, saying at best they restrained him. Nenya wonders why the Demon King didn't invade Elrios during the Four Lords period when they were at their prime, calling Aegirp's attempts as interchange a failed invasion. He manages to take [[Mao]] and threatens to kill her if Kallon doesn't make the demon portal. Kallon still refuses and Nenya strikes Mao. Laby filled with an empty feeling doesn't understand how to feel. Nenya assumes his demon form and attempts to control Kallon's body, Laby doesn't want to let it happens and attack Nenya. He attacks her with a blast of demonic energy but Laby is completely unphased, she fights and defeats the demon. Kallon all shocked that Laby was unaffected by the demonic energy. He manages to heal Mao with one of his devices and Laby is relieved. Kallon then asks Laby if she was a demon, he noted her energy wasn't quite like other demons, faint but powerful enough to defeat Nenya. Laby tells him about how she lived in the Black Forest but she herself doesn't know what she is. She tells Kallon that she wants to keep going and find her teacher's teacher in [[Elrianode]].
