    Berthe… Berthe spoke.

They kinda look like an updated version of some of the older tutorial dungeons, but I like how they paid attention to the fact that Raven and everyone after him canonically started off somewhere other than Ruben.

  • Roxas says:

Do we have to play pvp or win pvp for the raid weapon?

  • L says:

Now, what I am wondering is how did they start at Ruben and how did they get there without getting killed by the mobs from the fields.

    • Anonymous says:

Story-wise they don’t start their journey at Ruben. The game just makes you go through the dungeons because it wouldn’t be fair of other characters started at higher levels. and areas.

  • Malle says:

I’m sorry but I was really looking forward to seeing the Rena elves and where aisha came from.

  • Endgame says:

My god….. I didn’t think we’d ever see another update even close to on the same level of terrible as Elesis. But we have. KOG has done it again. They have unleashed the second worst update in the game’s entire history.

    They….. they…..

THEY HAVE OFFICIALLY RETCONNED EVE SLAPPING ELBRAT! THE BASTARDS!

And they even had to get a new voice actress to voice Eve for the new tutorial! Why? Probably because the original wanted no part of this. Stripping Eve of her defining moment.

Oh? You think it’s the same woman but she hasn’t done Eve in a while so she sounds different? Oh no. She’s doing a similar voice for Seulbi.

I’m also not fond of how they shifted Aisha saving Elbrat’s sorry ass from an incomplete formed Berthe to a fully formed Berthe running away because he was scared of Elbrat. Or how Rena can shoot down Banthus once, but not again once he’s grabbed the El. Or the shoehorned retcon to give Eve a personal stake in the war against the demons. Or how the new tutorials are no better at being actual tutorials than the old ones. But those are lesser crimes.

Actually they are a bit better ’cause the tutorials in the past didn’t teach how to awaken as far as I know.

I literally only learned of it because of other players I was playing with.

I didn’t notice a difference in Berthe, and I have played through the older tutorials these are based off of.

    • Yik46d says:

      Why are you still here?

    • Anonymous says:

I just saw a comment on Eve’s tutorial by 2nafish saying that there actually isn’t a new VA.

Endgame, I know the deeper voice threw you off, but do your fucking research before you start complaining.

  • thatguy says:

i cant wait for this game to die its gettin to the point that its just sad

    • Endgame says:

Elesis Online will not die on its own. The Koreans have proven themselves to be too big suckers to resist the annual bribery events.

But then again, Maple Story 2 just came out, and it’s going to siphon the hell out of every other Nexon game’s playerbase. South Korea has not had a game this hyped since Starcraft 2.

      • thatguy says:

Never got into maplestory but i know how popular it is but im siting on my hands waiting for kiritika online (my spelling is way off but i want this game in the states now)
@ kyo this game has too many problems for 1 revamp to fix

@anonymus true it didnt but i think ealonex brought my other problem with the tutorial revamp

    • Anonymous says:

Actually this tutorial revamp is good because it teaches you to awaken: something NONE of the previous tutorials (that I know of) ever did.

  • Kyo says:

People complain too much lol… better revamp can’t ever satisfy them lol

    • Ealonex says:

People complain because KOG never delivers properly. The only real difference between the tutorial we had before and this is one is that each char have their own places to start and the game teaches you how to awaken. It doesn’t explain KD or character systems at all.

      • UNub says:

The systems like for Way of The Sword and Core are self-explanatory. Aisha’s Memorize system and Rena’s systems are both not explained very well and can cause some confusion on how to optimize them. Chung’s is by far one of the easiest to get to know and play with, you just need to know how to load ammo.

Bottom line is, these are tutorials. If they were meant to be combat training then they’d need to do it in a PvP tutorial. Players can make videos of these themselves anyway, I personally do not appreciate the fact that a lot of players want to be spoonfed by KOG.

        • Anonymous says:

          Exactly.

        • Stalker-Chan says:

          This very much^

I really hate long tutorials in video games and being spoonfed and having half the game ruined because of exposition instead of discovering what the game has to offer myself. Megaman X had a really good way of getting the players to know how to play the game without any tutorial. It doesn’t treat the players like 5 year old babies telling them every single damn thing. People these days are too lazy to discover things for themselves and then think it’s bad game design when the game openly lets them test out the characters without directly telling them how they work. We even have a training room goddammit!

          • Anonymous says:

People are used to game industries making the easier games, not the old classics with real difficulty.

A tutorial to get you started is good, but there are things I’d rather learn myself.

        • thatguy says:

@UNub “Aisha’s Memorize system and Rena’s systems are both not explained very well ” whether its something i do or ppl rarely do nowadays but i tend to browse the page and learn what i can from webpage and then apply to when i start playing i think they need to go over the small details during a tutorial like if u knocked an enemy down they tell u about the basics of kd.

“I personally do not appreciate the fact that a lot of players want to be spoonfed by KOG.” i dont know what context u mean that in but them streamlining the game was predictable cuz most games do that to attract that casual crowd to the game

          • Anonymous says:

I’m a pretty casual player most of the time, but even I don’t want every last detail of a game just explained to me by the game itself.

A short explanation of Knockdown would help quite a bit, but I actually rather liked discovering how to use Way of the Sword and other character systems that existed at the time that I started playing. If there really was something about a system I didn’t understand after I tried to figure it out, THEN I’d go to a site like elwiki and study up on it. For it to just be shoved down my throat before I can experiment with it is something I DON’T want happening.

          • L says:

Well depends, it might be better to just have the character features be on the front page or in the character description when you create a new character. It might be easier than making a long tutorial which will require more money, time, and staff.

          • Stalker-Chan says:

Not even casual players will want an extremely boring tutorial. It’s like volunteering for a job only to have someone stand right next to you doing everything for you and you don’t end up gaining any experience and you don’t learn anything new. I believe that if you like a game, you should be commited to learning all the tricks in the game and how something works by yourself. Y’know why? Cuz it shows that you CARE and that you WANT to know more about the game and you WANT to discover new things. If you want everything spoonfed it’s cuz you’re too lazy(then why do you even play this game?) or you don’t actually like what you’re playing. Either way, stop playing the game.

That being said, the current tutorials on Els are OK. They teach you the basics and they don’t go too in depth on everything. There’s also some story to them which is nice. Overall just average, but honestly it’s as good as a it can get for Elsword. The community is very large and salty so if the they pulled a Megaman X style “tutorial” they’ll get backlash and people will think KoG stopped caring about the game.

          • L says:

@Stalker-Chan Which is why instead of having long tutorials, they could opt for descriptions or something in character creations that tells you the character features or in game like it already does. The one thing I do before I play is look at the controls and presets. It can tell you a lot. Like for instance, a new Aisha player wants to know how to use her. Just open the keyboard shortcuts and look at what you don’t know and they might learn how to use Memorize or something else.
