  • Endgame says:

Never once in my entire life have I ever seen EXP bonuses on an official server reach 800% EXP. (Isn’t that Void Elsword’s normal rates?)

    Holy desperation Batman!

    • MagicSpice says:

      for once, i agree…

they want ppl to play rose so bad…

might be for 6 hours total, but lucky players with GoD, 500% mission, and exp medals would make out like bandits…

and there’s already lots of exp boosts for a while… so easier lv85 roses to go around

      • AddFan48382 says:

        It’s only for 3 hours

      • Flare Kyn says:

I’ve never seen random missions go over 300%

      • Nova says:

Like hell Rose will ever catch on. No one even draws art of her.

        • Endgame says:

Indeed. There’s more fanart of Harpy, Closers’ newest character, than there is of Rose.

And if sites like Gamenote and Gamemeca have a degree of accuracy to them, Elsword is a LOT more popular than Closers. Even though 2nafish is always sharing with us that the Korean message boards are much more negative about the state of the game than we are.

…..Dare I say there is more fanart of Karis than there is Rose. And let me tell you something: Karis fanart is a rarity. Even though she was in the game long before Elesis showed up, there wasn’t even Karis fanart until after Elesis was released. You’d think a playable character would have more fanart than a boss by now.

The hate for Rose is real.

          • Flare Kyn says:

THE REASON why Karis has more fanart is NOT popularity, BUT THE FACT THAT SHE’S BEEN A KNOWN CHARACTER FOR YEARS WHILE ROSE IS BARELY EVEN BEEN AN ELSWORD CHARACTER FOR A MONTH!

          • Nova says:

It’s not just that. FGunner in general barely gets any fanart, even on any Dungeon Fighter Online related tag. Note that she’s the 3rd female introduced in that game.

Hell, the only notable Rose art I saw in Pixiv is that one short series where it doubled as mourning Chung than anything.

        • Flare Kyn says:

Incorrect, I have seen Rose fanart on Deviantart.

          • Nova says:

Is it booming on the level of Add? Because if it’s just less than 5 images that has the Elsword tag, that hardly does anything.

    • anonymous says:

      Void’s normal rate is 400%.

    • xlsizzling says:

Void rates are 400% xD korea still best version of elsword

    • Flare Kyn says:

It’s true that the EXP boost has never been this high before, but it’s not just Rose players that get it. Elsword~LuCiel get it, too. Or at least, that’s what it looks like.

      • L says:

My issue with giveaways or giving anything that affects the power curve, or the difficulty curve is that it can hurt the longevity of a game.

Hope, they can do something about the power creeping in KR due to the excess +10 or +11 giveaways.

What do you think? What would be an effective way to regulate the power creep that comes from consistently giving players stuff to increase that number they get each hit?

        • Flare Kyn says:

Well, for one, you do have to get the new sets every time they upgrade the Secret Dungeons, so players have had to start with a blank slate every time.

But I think they should increase the success rates of fortification. I mean, the enhancement level where you can actually BREAK your gear feels too low for me.

          • Flare Kyn says:

Regardless, I personally don’t care about having the strongest equips. Not exactly gonna do me much good anyway considering I rarely do PvP.

          • L says:

Power creep also means the effectiveness of previously established gear and content. So when you say secret dungeons and getting new gear. What I am saying is that it can might a studio in the rear if this has a negative impact on players. Players who were away for reasons only to come back to see that their efforts mean nothing because the new gear at a low + is significantly better will deter them from spending more or playing more.

This is worse with how the enhancement system is atm. So I can agree with you on how it doesn’t feel right.

WoW used different systems and added Heroic in order to fix the power creep issue with content. They didn’t exactly do much with gear because it’s numerical and not made up of incomparables.

The strongest gear isn’t even needed in PVE. The skill and gear level requirement is relatively low to begin with. The issue is how they handled the power creep due to the excessive giveaways. They simply drove up the HP and damage of the newer content. Nothing really was changed and all it did was pad out the length of a run. Sure it made the dungeon feel a bit longer in KR because ppl had +10 or higher, but it can be annoying to players who don’t have it like in NA who are more likely to be non paying players. Sure you don’t need that gear, but it just makes grinding more longer and tedious without much of an excitement to it.

Recettear, a game about being a merchant, does this well in terms of level design. The power creep or even having the best gear doesn’t do much because there are a lot of incomparables and the gameplay is different every time, so you don’t feel bogged down by the grind.

          • L says:

Sorry, I had so many typos.

“So when you say SD and getting new gear, what I am saying is that it can bite a studio in the rear if this has a negative impact on players.”

          • Flare Kyn says:

            @L

The problem with what you just said is that ALL MMORPGs get updates, and that even means NEW GEAR!

If players can’t handle the fact that their gear is going to be outdated eventually, THEY SHOULDN’T BE PLAYING MMORPGS IN THE FIRST PLACE!!

          • L says:

I’m not sure you are getting it.

What I am saying is the change in the power curve. That means making your current gear insignificant. I am referring to a drastic shift in the curve that makes gears before bad to use.

This is what happened to Vindictus. And somewhat to Elsword. If you were away for a short time and somehow they decided to make it so your gear is not good. The effort you put into it is wasted because the developers increased the power curve. It can put off players from picking a game back up.

          • Flare Kyn says:

Let me put it this way.

My DiE has five pieces of Lvl 70 Secret Dungeon gear and two Secret Dungeon accessories from the same sets. The equips themselves are no worse than what they were when they were the best gear in the game. But NEW gear has appeared, and they’re BETTER than what I had. Therefore, my level 70 gear is now outdated.

That’s an inevitable IN ALL MASS MULTIPLAYER ONLINE ROLE PLAYING GAMES!

          • L says:

I am very sorry if I was very hard to understand. I wasn’t explaining it well enough.

        • Nask says:

I don’t know who added this, this is pretty amusing.

          http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/PowerCreep

Tellingly, despite being a Character Title game, players of Elsword -the first character on the roster- are vanishingly rare in the end-game.

          I owe Endgame a beer.

          • Stacyson says:

Yeah, i’ve noticed this when the log-in screen showed more of the new characters and the originals were placed in the back. Kog, has been promoting a lot of the newer characters than the originals. They are basically old content that doesn’t get any love. Elesis new team of newer characters are just better than our originals. :C

          • Endgame says:

It’s not just KOG. Even when it comes to fanart, Aisha and Eve are the only older characters to really get any these days. Other than those two, the scene is is dominated by Elesis, (WHY?!) Add, (DOUBLE WHY?!) and Lu. (WHY?! Oh right, the damned lolicons.)

…..Rose is highly unpopular though. Even the period of Ciel being revealed but not Lu saw Ciel getting more fanart than what Rose is getting right now. And Ciel only appears in fanart nowdays because of his association with Lu.

Raven is the one that’s dead last in terms of fanart. I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen a new Raven image. (KR webstie and Pixiv.)

          • Nova says:

There are actually a few fanartists in Pixiv that are dedicated to Elsword, and the art is really good, too. Even if said fanartists are shotacons.

There’s a few resurging art of Rena, mostly her WS, Chung and Raven are nonexistent, Aisha is still relevant, but mostly VP or her in a full Ice Burner set; EM is rare and DW is nonexistent. Ara has a couple recent ones, usually SD and AS.

        • Stacyson says:

Wow, didn’t know about power curve until I read this and researched it. Thank you for the information. I guess you do learn something everyday.

          • L says:

No problem. Everyone here is open to talk and argue.

Strange that if anyone mentions anything about game design, bad game/update, or good game/update people will complain.

    On which day?

  • Mugen says:

Mhmmm. “KOG isn’t desperate” they said….(-_-)

    • awsed says:

kog was desperate from the get go when they decided to retcon their own statement of not releasing a new character this year and go on with rose…

      • Flare Kyn says:

They said they had no PLANS to release new characters, THEY DID NOT FLAT-OUT SAY THERE WON’T BE ANYMORE CHARACTERS THIS YEAR!

        • L says:

IMO, that offline event seriously hurt their PR. It’s like what happened with Tales of Zestiria. Not enough planning and things were said that hurt their pockets.

          • Flare Kyn says:

But was it really because of Rose? Or were people just annoyed because of the constant on-site maintenances?

I honestly didn’t care much for the tourney, but I was hyped when I saw Rose, so I’m pretty sure she’s not at fault here.

          • Nova says:

Probably both. On-site maintenance on a live event when you’re supposed to have LAN connection speeds is beyond humiliating, and announcing Rose right after all that just soured things even more.

Honestly, all I care about right now is that I hope that Emcee Lady got paid double for her trouble.

          • Flare Kyn says:

            Jessie: “Prepare for trouble!”
            James: “And make it double!”

            I’M SORRY I COULDN’T RESIST!!

        • ElmntNinja says:

Yeah, no plans on a new character and some time after there is a new character.

          • Flare Kyn says:

But saying they have “no plans” doesn’t automatically mean that they’re flat-out not going to do it. Plans can change, after all.

Now if they said there’s DEFINATELY not going to be a character back then, THEN I could understand everyone being angry about that, BUT THEY DIDN’T!

      • Endgame says:

When did they allegedly say this anyway?

They’ve released a new character in December for the past four years (Around the same time, the 17-23 range. Even Eve released in this period.) And there was only a two year gap between Chung and Ara. (And that was only because 2011 was dedicated to the Transform classes.) And Elesis came out between Ara (December 20th 2012) and Addhole. (December 19 2013.)

…..They’ve given us zero reason to NOT expect a new character. Especially when the other Nexon games like Vindictus have been moving at a rate of one new character a year as well.

Also, KOG says lots of bullshit. They first introduced the term “pair character” with Add, but then turned around and said “Oh no no no, that guy who’s name is a reference to the same Adam who the woman Eve was named after, fights with Nasod technology like Eve, has similar movement to Eve, copies more skills from Eve than anyone else, wears mostly white or black in an advancement or two like Eve, and his entire motivation involves Eve is NOT Eve’s ‘pair character’! Why ever would our advertisement team say such a thing?! He’s not male Eve! Look! Diabolic Esper hardly copies Eve! He stole control over time from Aisha’s Dimension Witch path instead!”

        • L says:

Didn’t Hagie and Delia come out in the same year?

          • Endgame says:

            Yeah, turns out they did.

And I’m unsure when Season 3 Episode 3 came out, but Episode 4 came out shortly after Hagie.

…..Looks like more new characters than new stages is the trend nowadays. I guess we’re just more upset when KOG does it because all of the new characters past Ara are just rehashing and do little to bring anything new to the table. (Granted Rose/female Gunner does predate Chung. But her implementation in Elsword is just a Rena/Chung/Ciel hybrid, with Ciel already being a Raven/Chung hybrid.)

          • Flare Kyn says:

I honestly don’t see any Raven or Chung in Ciel, aside from the fact that he has swords, can shoot bullets, and is fast.

The way he actually uses his weapons is different from both Chung and Raven.

          • Nova says:

Honestly though, I feel like DC’s a much more fun gunner than Rose. Rose’s weapon swap system got more cumbersome after that last patch, and Rose’s base skills suck aside from maybe Gatling Gun, Rising Shot and Needle Sobat.

If it weren’t for me having too much on my plate, I’d rather play as DC more.

  • skyward says:

That class change ticket(the red one), does it disappear when you use it?

  • skyward says:

Also, what is that red sack?

  • Clueless Rider says:

Hey, any idea why we can’t open the Ice Burners given from the event? I keep getting this error. http://puu.sh/m7FzP/79e6bcc0c5.jpg

    • Dreamslayer says:

You’re trying to open it on an incompatible character. You’re probably trying to burn a normal ice burner on Rose, and I don’t think she has any actual avatar sets that are in normal ice burners yet. Confirm this by clicking on the normal ice burner in the shop. I don’t remember, but I think her equipment will not change. Since Ice Burners are conformed now to give only the avatars for the character who is using them, using them on Rose is pointless since you won’t get any avatars at the moment, and so you get an incompatibility error to prevent you from “wasting” your IB.

      • Clueless Rider says:

Ooooh, thank you very much! I’ve had this error on Lu/Ciel before, which was really early when they had no IB set either. Been wondering if something was wrong with my account our so, thank you very, very much to clear that up. :3

  • Malle says:

Rose is painful…at the stream when everyone as pissed because they thought rose was going to be broken…this I can honestly say….they were wrong. Only thing they should worry about is the jump x with her handm cannon. Poor ?.

    • Endgame says:

They weren’t pissed because they thought she was going to be broken. (How could that be a concern when they’re dumb enough to still play Elesis vs Add Online, now with +12 Smaug weapons?) They were pissed because:

-She’s just a copypaste from another, more popular Nexon game. And not even one that brings anything new to Elsword. Between that and the three newest characters before her already being heavy on recycling, (Elesis and Add outright being superior, genderbent versions of already existing characters none the less.) well, this was a breaking point. KOG’s too lazy to even come up with their own cloneish characters anymore.

And female Gunner has already been a guest character in other Nexon hosted games. She’s the village bicycle at this point. Everyone’s had a ride. They don’t want sloppy seconds.

-KOG is releasing too many characters. Especially at a time where the balance is especially fucked up after they took the entire Summer adding no new content whatsoever to rebalance everyone….. only for the broken characters to become even more broken. Why did GM need Knight’s Destiny granting status immunity on top of already obscene damage mitigation and a spammable combo that has stupid super armor frames and range that outperforms most Actives in terms of catching + super armor utility again? Why is KOG not even TRYING to fix the balance/hide their Elesis and Add favoritism? (And I’m sure they only favor Add because he’s current most popular character and have to pander to the most profitable demographic they have left.)

People want content to do on the characters they already have. And all they’ve gotten….. are three stages that can be cleared in 5 minutes or less and Eltrion rereleased as if it was new. It’s been 8 years and Elsword still doesn’t have a real endgame. Closers is only 1 year old and already has a proper endgame area that they can slowly expand upon as the level cap goes up that has no impact on the main story. They could redesign Henir to be similar to Closers’ Plane Gate. After all, no one runs Henir anymore. Except hackers…..

-Combining the above two points, they released a new character while after a year, Lu and Ciel are still missing their third job path. AND Rose is getting special treatment and getting four job advancements! Most likely before Lu and Ciel get theirs.

…..I’m sure after all is said and done, Lu and Ciel will have a shorter wait than the one poor Ara did.

-Chung, especially DC who never truly enjoyed the OP status sister IP and brother TT had at one point or another, is already highly unpopular in KR. The Koreans just plain haven’t liked him that much. Not big on his slower playstyle it would seem.

…..And now another aryan gunslinger WITH BOOBS, and also a cannon comes along? Yeah, they feel like they’re getting replaced. (Much more so than Ara fans did when Elesis suddenly came into the picture with a trailer that excluded Ara. Or the Elbrat players….. you know what? I don’t think the Elbrat players, much like Elbrat himself, realize that he was rendered completely obsolete by big sis.)

      • Nova says:

Pretty much this. They added Rose in to try and bank on DFO’s huge playerbase coming over to Elsword. Rose isn’t even that good a character; copy-pasted assets aside, her Special Actives are crap and while her actives are good, it’s mitigated by the fact that they get locked once she overheats and that her gun combos are clunky as hell. She tries to do Rena’s and Chung’s jobs, only to end up being slower than Rena, and not as destructive as Chung. The only thing she does better than Chung is that her handcannon doesn’t need ammo.

I’ve said this before, but it bears repeating: the only ones who would be hyped for Rose are the ones who haven’t heard of DFO, since all they’ll see is Saber with guns.
