      Because Defense Ignore is actually overpowered! Just ask those who used Phantom Sword’s Skill Note, like myself!

        That thing floats around you for ~30 seconds, the ignore defense field is only 10 sec, after the 1st balance it got down to 5s, considering the duration and what she can do in pvp it’s already really balance. With a duration of 3 seconds while the animation already takes like 1 sec, either than healing, what can you achieve with 2 sec of 20% damage increase?
        (idk if kog actually does pvp but v key next to your opponent is definitely not a really nice choice unless you got some heavy hitstun skill as a setup)

          5 seconds is still a long time all things considered, especially in a PvP environment. I’ve made my stance clear on this that it was dumb that CBS still had a 100% defense ignore anything, need I remind you that literally every other character in the game had their defense ignore changed to 25% defense in PvP, CBS didn’t receive this, she was literally the only character with 100% defense ignore in PvP. It needed to be nerfed, not questions asked. Nerfed as much as it was, maybe not, but it could not stay the way it was.

            hello the 100% defense ignore that was nerfed to 25% activates the moment the skill hit and last as long as the skill stays. While CBS’s V key buff require her to do the healing anymation, which is around 1 sec, I wouldn’t say much if the duration is still 5 sec, but they make it 3 sec, what can you do with 2 sec of 20% dmg increase? standing next to your opponent and V key? IIRC she doesn’t have an iframe for doing that animation, and anyone with a right mind wouldn’t do it next to your opponent, even in pve.
            what’s the point with 100% defense ignore if you cannot have it last as long as your skill? the 100% defense ignore trait was nerf partly because it’s in the skill as long as that skill lasts. For CBS V key 10 sec is too much, 5 sec is still okay, but 3 sec for only 20% dmg increase, I wonder if you’ve ever play CBS enough to spit out such thing.

            I just looked at the skill traits: Critical Trait was changed to only ignores 50% Defense in PvE on October 20th 2016 in KR, so Roy’s argument is even weaker because the Critical trait got nerfed in PvE as well, further proving that Defense Ignore is pretty insane..

            Not to mention that the Critical Train has always increased the MP cost of the skill when activated.

            the reason is quite simple: with ALL those buffs, a CBS can one hit skill solace bypassing phase 2 or any of the SD bosses -except for alterasia type-H

          Of course, it would depend on how high your attack stat was, but what DIDN’T matter was the Chung’s defense stats, as it was ignored.

          Point is, you are severely underestimating the power of defense ignore.

            There’s also Giga Stream, which is a MULTI-Force Field skill, meaning it ALWAYS has a Force Field, even if you don’t use El Crystal Spectrum or Energetic Heart, meaning it would ALWAYS benefit from Code Recovery – Breaker!

            It’s called mana break stupid. If a cbs manages to reach 300 mp in the first place, the other opponent already has 600. (exaggeration because I know you nick-pick) Also, please dont try to teach other cbs’ about their pvping when you don’t pvp in the first place. 3 seconds is not enough time, as I struggle with managing to get a hit in in 5.

            There’s also Mana Conversion, and the fact you can socket both MP Gain when attacking and MP Gain when attacked. And correct me if I’m wrong, but I think she also has some skills that can Mana Burn.

            as dodging is a thing the harder she is to get mana for Giga Stream or EH isn’t it, unless you want to convert your way until you get enough mana to do it then they will mana break it from the first hit leave your mana bar empty and they has higher HP than you
            as if Dwarf is a 100% guaranteed. MP gain lol do you even pvp? anyone who pvp a lot knows that 50% mp gain, which is the maximum and require quite a good amount of stats to reach that value, isn’t much better than a magic necklace alone.

            do pvp with CBS, get triple S with your theory then comeback. NA didn’t get the nerf yet, do it so we can be enlightened

            Normally I agree with Flare Kyn on things (he has a good head on his shoulders) but on this one no. His conjecture about CBS is not based on legit practice/pvp, but on conjecture. If you actually play CBS, you know that generally (excluding badass moves like final strike) her attacks generally dont hit hard to start. If you ignore a persons defense for 3 seconds (cause lets be honest, you wont use specials with it since they have animations) it wont be the same as other characters who do normal to high damage from the get go. With CBS it will honestly normalize her damage to other chars. Granted theres always outliers like Vafflin, but thats a different argument.

            Yes, they do have animations! But guess what: they only need ONE second at most to get the actual attack out! Energetic Heart>Code Recovery>Giga Stream DOES work, even with the 3 second timer for Breaker’s effect, so your hypothetical situation just backfired on you!

            BUT YOU’RE MISSING THE POINT OF MY ARGUMENT!

            My argument was DEFENSE IGNORE IS OVERPOWERED, WHICH IS WHY IT WAS REMOVED! I do agree that the duration nerf was a bit too far, BUT I WASN’T ARGUEING THE DURATION NERF!

      Wait, wait, wait…. you want them to nerf…. Elesis? Elesis? Let me just…… wait, what? Really? Have…. you never played this game? Elesis is trash in pvp, other than BH and grandmaster(which are the only good elesis in pvp. I use the word “good” here loosely, cause they’re still pretty trash). CrA has always been trash, as well, but she got the biggest nerf I’ve ever seen in my life. Did you even READ the update notes and see the stoic nerf? how about the chivalry nerf? did you see that? Other than BH, elesis has no: 1. 10 years of time stop ability(ara, I’m looking at you), 2. NO ability to catch anyone, because of no homing skills(blazing wing is worthless), no mobility(no double jump), and no approach moves which can even KIND of catch someone, 3. stoic, which even when used doesn’t actually get you out of a combo(ara) and 4. no moves that force manabreak or immobilize opponents(wind wall).

      So…. you want to nerf Elesis? Have you even PLAYED her? she’s a joke in pvp. Hell, I play elesis and I’m always happy when I have to fight other elesis in pvp, because I know it’ll be super easy.

        Just because she doesn’t have homing skill doesn’t automatically mean you don’t have catching abilities because she has plenty. GrM has War Prelude (can be used in the air later on) Juggernaut buster if you can follow up with it,Rushing sword,Critical dive and and sonic blade. BH has Firewall,Scaldic sword,>>^xzzz, and Flame rose. I can’t say anything to CrA since i dont know her much but there were times when she was just fucking busted like when she was first released and that time when all the Elesis’s bandwageon to CrA cause her ejection buster did 80%-one shotting you from full HP. Saying Elesis doesn’t have catching abilities and CrA was “always” trash is false

          War prelude- is the only skill that i can feel is safe.
          Juggernaut buster is 300- 250mp i think, You can’t be wasting 300mp in a match, and its manabreakable. NO dummy will be tanking a skill, unless you don’t understand the word manabreak in your dictionary. You aren’t guaranteed a catch. Sonic blade is good, but it has a long cooldown now. But, i would say grm can handle herself 50% chance BH is on a fair ground tbh.
          CRA was not always trash, but when she had a balance. They nerfed her again after the last CRA patch. Which was definitely surprising,

        1: Iron Body Strong, if used as you’re attacked, will knock enemies away.
        2: Super Armor prevents flinching, so even if you’re attacked (excluding ranged attacks), you can easily counter-attack.
        3: Dodge and Slash. Not as useless as you seem to think.
        4: Crimson Avenger can literally heal herself with some Active skills and Gale Mode.

        I do agree that people over exaggerate her, but not all complaints are baseless.

          Iron body strong- What!!. Counter- Reckless fist with awakening and archenemy, the seconds you have on super armor will expire and then rf continues with their combo, or cbs with 2 delays+ you mean the iron body that was gutted to 34 seconds cooldown. Basically the skill is useless unless you can catch of it now. We have a lot of classes that has superarmor and get more rewards with no downside.

          Dodge and slash- its superarmor- unlike ravens shadow step- it is way slower. Classes like ara can power stun without so much effort.

          Crimson avenger- heals are useless now, its so little that its not noticeable, and you can’t be healing yourself when you have literally no ways to catch except be thankful that your opposition does not lag(unlikely in Na) or someone is below the platform, and you manage to use ejection stigma (gigantic) to catch. The only skill- chaser sword that was used for catching gutted and decreased.

          Iron body strong superarmor for elesis – you mean the bug or something, like when an elesis stoic out, she kds( Yes, i don’t know if this is a bug, but i got an elesis that kept stoicing and then she did still be hit and kd in superarmor.

          I just wish they give this class some good setups especially cra for catching. And get skills for catching air borne characters. In other words, all melee classes need skills for catching airborne classes like ain, rose, ara.

          Hmm I would care to disagree with a couple of your points. While I am not under the presumption that Elesis is bad (I main grand master myself) I believe she is a little lackluster as opposed some of the other characters this season (BH is the only one I exclude from this argument due to the presence of Fire Wall and Fire IV + Explosive Fist which do incredible damage. Even with the Invincible Flame nerf, she is still completely overbearing from the other Elesis’s.) My reasons are as follows.

          1.) Her strongest defensive skill, stoic, got nerfed heavily. The strongest part about stoic was the ability to use it midcombo or pre-emptively when expecting a strong special active (Like Pandemonium) and counter it by having invincibility for 1 hit. With the nerf to stoic she loses this mindgame and becomes incredibly susceptible to special active catches. Additionally if you want to use stoic efficiently at all anymore, you have to know when you’re going to get caught because if you use it midcombo (assuming you don’t have ERP) it becomes a cooldown of 34 seconds, which is absolutely absurd for a skill that costs MORE than a manabreak to start with. Even using the trait makes it 25.5 seconds and if you have ERP for cooldown MAXED OUT, it becomes still a whopping 22.1 seconds cooldown. It doesn’t seem like much but this in itself is enough to make her a much worse character do to the heavy nerfs to stoic. Additionally she can’t even protect herself from first hit debuffs (Again, like Pandemonium) because she lost all invincibility on it. Granted I can sort of understand why this is the case (I don’t plan to ignore her access to evading HA’s.) But this could’ve been fixed by making it so HA cancels stoic, like how all the HA’s with Power Stun still locked her in.

          2.) GrM and CrA lack consistent approach options. This doesn’t apply AS much to CrA due to the access to a projectile (>>^zx/>>^zxV) and a better freeze frame skill in Chaser Sword, but it is still relevant to her. While this isn’t 100% true due to the access to Super Armor, her Super Armor skills are extremely linear with very little deviation to this. It’s extremely easy to just dodge her Super Armor and punish the lag afterwards from the move. As for Special Actives, they can be very powerful catching tools, but GrM and CrA’s special actives have 2 forms (useful catching ones at least.). The first is an extremely linear straight line, this is skills like Chaser Sword and Critical Dive. The other is an AoE around said Elesis such as Sonic Blade, War Prelude, and Blood Falls. The biggest problem with these catching tools is 1. with the exception of BH, Elesis has a hard time gaining MP in the neutral to have access to these tools. and 2. even having access to these tools can give trouble to opponents who can space themselves correctly while far away from you and making sure to avoid your linear skills. This can be incredibly frustrating for CrA and GrM, and can single handedly decide games. A large portion of their gameplay relies on bait and punish tactics, so their lack of actual options to catch spacing opponents can make them much weaker, and decides matchups spreads pretty hard. A perfect example of this is NW. NW is a very powerful melee/range character that relies on actives to do massive damage, but has decent access to very powerful special actives that have large hitboxes to both catch, and do damage. While close up, GrM and CrA can manage with NW by using super armor skills to bait out options. But while NW is spacing and using special actives to keep GrM and CrA away, they lack any consistent options to deal with her. This gives them glaring matchup issues against opponents they could normally do perfectly fine against.

          3.) The vast majority of CrA and GrM’s damage come from combos. While yes, CrA CAN do massive damage on her special actives, the vast majority of your damage comes from actives and combos that extends INTO said special actives. Skills that have heavy requirements to be powerful, such as Brandish Breaker, are not consistent forms of DPS, and are heavily situational but can be powerful if used correctly. With the presence of mass MP dumps such as BH, GA, and EM, it’s quite easy to acquire 100 MP to manabreak combos. For most matchups, this is strictly a loss as most characters can recatch quite easily and burning 100 MP from the opponent is purely a plus, for GrM and CrA, this is detrimental. GrM and CrA lack powerful skill damage and require heavy comboing to have any output, so each manabreak means a potential loss of the game due to their problems catching. Even recatching is incredibly difficult depending on where they manabreak. GrM and CrA have no way to gain MP outside of hitting the opponent or BEING hit by the opponent, but with most of the meta being powerful special actives that take huge chunks of HP, being hit by the opponent is too large of a requirement. This means that their damage is severely gimped by the fact that they can’t consistently do damage to these top tier characters that can generate hundreds of MP off of a couple moves.

          And Finally
          4.) This is more of a subjective point as this is my own personal opinion and experience from playing Elesis. I believe Elesis’s strongest strengths are very dependent on player skill, and not on actual statistics. With the way the meta is shifted, a large portion of character’s strengths is in their incredible %s and buffs/debuffs along with hitboxes. Elesis lacks many of these, and her gameplay relies heavily on how good the player is, similar to BM (Not QUITE as heavily though.) This means that unless the player is much better than the opponent, Elesis becomes a much weaker character due to the vast majority of power coming from mindgames and just simply outplaying the opponent. Whereas characters such as Freyja (No hate intended) have very powerful tools that require very little setup and do not require too much practice to become devastating in a match (My personal example being G-35L Flash Grenade). While skills such as Dodge and Slash, Rushing Sword, Injection Stigma, among other things may be powerful skills, they are only powerful because the players using them are usually much better than their opponent. While this is not always the case, if two players of equal skill were to fight, say one with GrM/CrA, and another with a character of around the same tier, say SD or AS, then the SD/AS would almost always win simply due to having better tools and not being completely outplayed by their opponent.

          Granted the majority of this is subjective to my own opinions and experience, I still stand by this as my opinions on Elesis in general in the meta right now. Keep in mind this is applying to SOLELY 1v1. This has no relevance to 2v2 or 3v3 as I do not play those, but I’m sure they have other problems there anyways.

    Well… CBS still got the best mobility in the game with the easiest free catches to use. Not very efficient nerf for PvP, except for +9 people who depends on Extreme Virtual + Amplify.

    It might sounds scary for PvE, but with or without defense ignore they can still use bravery stacking to spam thousands of lasers that can kill anything, defense ignoring was just an accelerator (a real powerful one btw).

        not even in pve you needed to do as much as posible with the def ignore in 10 sec so you needed a lot of coordination for that (apart from that you also would have some problems with MP gain(if you don’t have an MP necklace that works, cos well the Ereda one is still bugged, already reported it but still bugged to this moment)), that some litterally afk with energy needles, yeah but their dmg isn’t the same as a CBS that knows how to play her, they don’t even know her hyper can be use with crystal spectrum

            I legit did a few runs of Transporting Tunnel: CA on my level 87 VP with a level 99 party member, no one else, and NO autoparty buff.

            I actually got decent ranks from the second run onward (I died to Type-H in the first run, but he’s the ONLY one I died to)

            And no, I wasn’t sitting back and letting my party member do all the work! I actually fought against enemies through the whole dungeon and used my buff.

    And they keep removing the awakened traits, those will completely dissapear from the game in a few more patches haha.
    Now seriously I was really dependant of that ingnore defense to deal dome aceptable damage in pve.

      I’m honestly glad all the Awakened traits are gone. Dancing Blade just doesn’t feel like it should have been a skill trait, and should have been its own separate skill.

      In terms of pve, freyja needs some buffs cause it feels a majority of her skills are oriented to PvP. In terms of PvP, she could use some nerfs. But if your a tank class you can shut her down easily

      They’re just removing the trait in general. It’s considering a nerf but other skills (like the ones that got Heavy) received a buff from it instead. It was pretty crucial to her PvP for sure, so go complain about that in the forums or something.

      Freyja also does no damage and relies completely on nade locking you in a corner (which does a huge amount of damage). VP by default prefers platforms so her playstyle just gets beaten a little easier by FR.

      They did deal damage, but their dps was absolutely garbage compared to using your Strength stacking, Bravery Stacking, etc.

      Shadow Bolt on NB with 8% Strength and full ERP can do up to 27k% on Shadow Bolt due to Heavy. Easily outdamages a hyper for less MP cost. Other characters also shared this. So now these hypers should be doing well over 30k% for the extra MP and cast time.

        Hypers are usually better cos of their pure instakill AoE in general thats why GA, AS, VP, ST, CBS, and LP (yeah his is techniclly a floor hyper) s hypers are more used

        and on the dmg department, most are pass the 30K% mark, and as always VC Hyper doing the highest is about 50K% which is basiclly gungnir with better AoE and dmg distribution
