Tips and Details

  • Aside from a few inconsistencies, both slashes hit what they visibly should hit, making it require a good eye for positioning to make the most out of its range, as the Downward Slash happens sideways into the foreground/background, and the Horizontal Slash lacks significant vertical range.
    • The Downward Slash is tilted fore-to-background when facing right and vice-versa when facing left. Since it's not a perfect half 45 degree tilt, it can still hit most enemies up to just under 2 platforms above you, but will never hit enemies roughly 1 and a half platforms below you, as it's too far into the fore/background by then. This same tilt does allow it to hit around curves and into fore/background parts of certain maps like Forgotten Elrian Sanctum however.
    • The Horizontal Slash hits in a wide circle around you, far into the fore/background, and has extremely high horizontal range, hitting enemies well outside of the screen, quite a bit further than the Downward Slash in front of you, and even slightly further than that behind you, making it excellent at clearing lines of enemies. Unfortunately it cannot hit more than one platform above and below you, however.
  • As mentioned, there are a few inconsistencies with the hitbox prior to the 07/18/2019 KR patch:
    • The Downward Slash starts dealing damage the moment Ain moves the sword from on top of him to behind him to begin the slash. This allows it to hit enemies 2~3 platforms above you in the arc between where the sword was when summoned and where it is when Ain begins his slash. It will not hit enemies that high in front of the summon location.
    • The Horizontal Slash's hitbox remains active as Ain breaks the projected sword and goes back to a neutral stance after the skill. Due to this, the now-invisible sword still follows along with Ain's animation, making it hit in wildly inconsistent areas across the screen behind you (and very slightly in front), even up to 3 platforms above, a full second after the sword has already disappeared.

Trivia

  • This skill's name is German for Second · Sickles.
  • In Europe, Secundus Falx is Latin for Second Sickle.
    • Correctly spelled it would be Secunda Falx.

Old Version

  • In the past, Zweit · Sicheln was an Active skill which had Ain perform a single swing with a projection longsword.
