Skills are special moves that can be executed by characters which deal greater amounts of damage than normal moves at the cost of Mana (MP) or at some special circumstances, Health Points (HP). Skills can be added or learnt by inputting Skill Points (SP). 2SP is given at every level, but through the usage of temporary SP Scrolls, one can gain an extra amount of SP for a period of time. Most skills has a Mastery Level of 5 after which one cannot invest any more SP. However, through the use of Skill Rings, one can increase the level of the Skills that the ring can increase. These can be obtained from the cash shop and ice-burners. The highest level one can obtain for a skill is 10.

Skill Tree

A Skill Tree is a layout where one can see the development of skills and the SP allocated each respective skill. For a list of skill trees, go to: List of Skill Trees

Special Actives

Illusion Strike
Illusion Strike

Special Actives are unique skills that have high MP cost, but have the potential to do high damage. These skills, when used, cause delay, a small period of time-stop, followed by the image cut in of the character as the character executes the skill. If the dynamic camera is activated, the camera angle will change to an epic view. Special Actives are an essential set of skills which can greatly enhance your ability in fighting.

Some Special Actives have unique abilities, for example granting you increased range.

An example of a Special Active skill, as seen in the picture, is "Illusion Strike", where Eve summons numerous Nasod Gears to perpetuate at the opponent, dealing damage and a great number of hits.

Actives

Actives are low MP cost skills that can be used for quick effect. The abilities of Active Skills vary over each individual job class. An example is the skill as shown in the picture called "Shadow Strafe", which allows Raven to strafe past obstacles or opponents over a distance for a low mana cost.

It is always advisable to have at least one active skill in your skill slots, so as to allow greater flexibility.

Buffs

Buffs are skills which can be used to temporarily enhance the stats of the character. There are three types of Buffs, Accelerators, Aura Accelerators and Adrenaline.

Accelerators

Accelerators are strictly 70MP self buffs that increase the stats of the character for a moderate period of time. These skills are found in the 1st set of skills at the start of the game before any job advancement. An example, is as shown in the picture, the Magic Accelerator, which increases magic attack for a set amount of time.

Aura Accelerators

Aura Accelerators are party buffs that give all characters within an area increased stats for a moderate period of time. These skills are found in the 1st set of skills at the start of the game before any job advancement. Only Aisha and Eve are capable of using Aura Accelerators. An example is, as shown in the picture, the Aura Magic Accelerator, which increases magic attack for a set amount of time.

Adrenaline

Adrenaline are 10 second self buffs that give the character a major increase in stats. These buffs are great for unleashing lethal special actives and can greatly increase the damage output of a skill. An example is, as shown in the picture, the Magic Adrenaline which greatly increases the magic attack of the character for 10 seconds.

Passives

Passives as implied by the name itself, is a skill that cannot be used by the character but instead enhances the stats or abilities of the character.

An example, as seen in the picture is a passive called "Intermediate Strength Training" which increases the physical attack power of the character.

However, not all passives increase stats as the one stated above. There are many other passives in higher job advancements that grant you special abilities limited to that particular class.

Quest Skills

Quest skills are special "Locked Skills" that require doing quest to unlock or purchasing from cash shop. These skills are a lot stronger and special from the normal skills and are quite worth obtaining.

For more information on Skill Quests, refer to the Skill Quest Guide.

Skill Notes

Original Article: Skill Notes

Skill notes are various "notes" that can be used to permanently enhance the ability of a particular skill. In order to use skill note, you will need to have completed the Skill Book quest from Ariel, or buy the cash Skill Book from the cash shop. There are 2 types of Skill Notes: Special Skill Notes and Active Skill Notes. There are also Cash Notes of each respective type which cost money to purchase.

Special Skill Notes

Special Skill Notes modify certain characteristics of Special Actives, and are obtained from quests, monster drops or from the Cash Shop*. These skill notes tend to be valued highly in the market, due to the usefulness of the characteristics they grant.

Active Skill Notes

Active Skill Notes modify certain characteristics of Actives and are obtained from quests, monster drops or from the Cash Shop*. These notes, too, tend to be fairly expensive in the market.

*Notes obtained through quests or the Cash Shop are untradeable. Cash Skill Notes however can be sent as Gifts in some versions of Elsword.
