While the current NA name Vertieidi does not mean anything, it is meant to be Verteidig which is German for Defend (imperative form), but Korean (and not English either, for that matter) does not have a symbol/sound for the soft ending -g, so it was omitted and consequently mistranslated.
In Europe, this skill is translated as Defensio and means Defense in Latin.
