Mad Paradox

[Demon of paradox, stuck in endless contradictions of Time and Space]

Background

  • In-game Version
  • Nexon Version

Add is now the demon of paradox, stuck in endless contradictions of Time and Space.

Perhaps it was a fatal side effect of his aimless traveling between parallel universes, but Add feels that his body has reached its limit.

Before his body completely disintegrates, he attempts one final forbidden experiment, which disintegrates him to molecular levels then tie his very being to the essence of Time and Space.

The only thing that remains is his obsessive desire to return to the only past in which he felt happiness.

Description

Add pulls out a flask with purple liquid and begins to drink out of it. He didn't need Glave's "warning." He already knew that his body could not withstand endless destruction through Time and Space. It was clear that his body has reached its limits with the last battle.
He recalls what the mysterious voice said. The most annoying out of them was when it called him a "failure."
Add's eyes began to lose focus. When he finally arrived in a past and saw his young happy self, he realized it's impossible to go back to his past. It was, is, an unachievable goal.
But the voice, his other self, flaunted it, calling him a failure as if he somehow managed to put that behind him.
Is it truly time to accept the fact that going back to his past is an unachievable goal?
Does he just follow a destined path of failure, repeating the inevitable?
No, there's no such thing as destined failure. Even if he has to destroy natural order, he will arrive at his own past!
That moment, Add's body and mind started to disintegrate. Using all his forbidden power, he barely manages to tie himself to this timeline before he scatters to pieces.
He can't say when he will disintegrate. Before that, he must meet with the mysterious figure. Add headed towards the sanctum. "He" was waiting for his answer at the heart of the sanctum.

Trivia

  • Mad Paradox and Herrscher are the only two playable characters that aren't really alive anymore in the usual sense. In Mad Paradox's case, he has become some sort of temporal enigma existing independently from the natural flow of space and time, his seemingly "physical" body appearing in flux, explaining his younger default appearance.
    • As he appears in flux, parts of Add's body may appear as breaking or forming in and out of existence, more so in his True Form, as the back-story explains that he is reaching the limit of time travel.
    • Considering that Add has been wandering across Time and Space, it is possible that he becomes Mad Paradox in an entirely separate timeline from the one he started off in.
  • Add discards his physical body, denying his father's goal, and goes against his mother's wish for him to let go of the past.
  • As Mad Paradox, Add will appear in 2 forms in the physical world, his younger form and adult form.
    • His younger form’s body has seemingly regressed to become the same age as Time Tracer, as he has the same black sclera on his left eye. He is also seen wearing a hood with cat ears, a nod to Time Tracer's design.
      • His default in-game model still retains the same size as his previous jobs, despite his younger appearance. Additionally, it does not differ during his True Form.
    • His adult form reflects his true age, having black sclera in both eyes and shark-like teeth, similar to Diabolic Esper. The scar across his left eye also seems to have grown.
  • The white shard floating right next to Mad Paradox in his portrait seems to display his mother from one of the alternate timelines.
  • Upon advancing to Mad Paradox, Add's personality takes a drastic turn from being loud and manic to become more subdued and nihilistic, as shown in his new voice lines and backstory.
    • His facial expression is also changed to a blank stare, with droopy eyes.
  • Mad Paradox's Job Change Item, Mad Paradox's Shattered Flask, might refer to the flask of poison from the Schrödinger's cat experiment.
