Varnimyr is the first instance of a complete dungeon region being released without an accompanying village.
As noted by the Dark Elves during Ventus' recounting of the events in the demon realm in Laby's story quests, the region is named after the forest, Varnitas Eldimyr, which to them means "false home".
- The Korean text makes it clear this is supposed to be the Latin word Vanitas, meaning emptiness or nothingness, and Eldimir, likely being an "El" version (similar to Eldrasil) of the Proto-Slavic word мир or "Mir", meaning peace/world. The full name of the region thus can be translated to roughly mean "A world empty of El", matching the "false home" translation given in-game as the elves' "real" home would be a world with El: Elrios.
