Socketing Equipment

In Elsword, many equipment (Costume, Weapons, and Armors) contain sockets, which can be socketed with certain gems to add special effects to the equipment. These can range from increase in Critical to an increase in Element Resistance.

Guide

1) Open your inventory menu (i) and click on the 2nd button to the left (It has a gem icon). The cursor will then change into a sword icon with a small gem next to it.

2) Select the desired equipment from the inventory.

3) A new window will then open, showing the item's available sockets. The amount of sockets available depends on its rarity; rarer equipment will have more sockets. You can use Ancient Guardian Wedge on armor or Ancient Iron Wedge on weapon to increase the amount of sockets by 1.

4) Drag the desired magic stone into the gray square and click on the Equip Button. You can also right-click your magic stone. If you don't like it, you are able to close the window and you won't loose your previous socket. Though, if you want to save it, hit Apply.

5) You have now socketed your equipment! Click Auto-Socket Magic Stone if you want different stats/higher values.

You can only socket gems if you have sufficient ED. This amount needed is shown in the box at the bottom of the window.
Sockets can be locked by clicking on gem icons near them so you won't accidentaly replace them.

Stones to socket equipment

In order to socket equipment, you must have certain magic stones. They range from basic to stat-specific stones. Basic stones give a random stat to an equipment, whereas stat-specific gems give a certain effect depending on the gem used.

Basic Magic Stones

Advanced Magic Stone

Gives equipment a random stat, with a greater chance of getting higher values.
Refined Magic Stone Gives equipment a random stat, with higher values than regular and advanced magic stones, but lower maximum values than sage stones.
Sage's Magic Stone
(현자의 마법석)
Gives equipment a random stat, with double the higher values normally possible (i.e. the maximum socket value for Awakening Time on a weapon is 9%, a Sage's Magic Stone can grant you up to double that value, 18%).
  • Exception:
    • Weapon: For Awakening Charge Speed, Sage's Magic Stone can only grant 6% more than the higher values normally possible.

Gives equipment a random stat from MP Gain when attacking , MP Gain when attacked, and Maximize, with double the higher values normally possible.
Potential Sage's Magic Stone
(잠재된 현자의 마법석)
Gives equipment below Lv. 89 a random stat, with double the higher values normally possible (i.e. the maximum socket value for Awakening Time on a weapon is 9%, a Sage's Magic Stone can grant you up to double that value, 18%).
  • Exception:
    • Weapon: For Accuracy and Awakening Charge Speed, Sage's Magic Stone can only grant 6% more than the higher values normally possible.

Ereda Dual Stat Magic Stones

These are special magic stones that give multiple effects on one socket. The stats are not affected by the weapon's enhancement level. If one of the effects is maxed, the other will be 0.

Basic Stone Socket Probability

The probability of a stat appearing from a Sage's Magic Stone is documented by KoG here. These rates can be assumed to be the same for lower tier Magic Stones, as they can give all the same stats, just with lower values. The game will roll for the type of stat first, then roll a second time for the value tier (for example, using Sage values, if the stone rolls critical, it will then roll again to decide between 6, 8, 10 or 12% for that stat). The rates for a stat differ between weapons and armor, though the rates for a value tier are the same for both. From +12 onward, the value probabilities are improved - these improved values are also always used for any costume avatar pieces.

For Stats other than HP

  • Formula for 1% is (Level * 1.5) + 8
  • Max value of Level in the Formula is 90. Even if the value it is derived from is 91 or above.

For HP

  • Formula for 1% is (Level * 15) + 85
  • There is no Maximum Value of Level in HP Formula.


Derivation of 「Level」value

Equipment' Effects & Sockets : Level value are based on 「Required Level」

Costumes' Effects & Sockets : Level value are based on 「Character's Level」

Titles' Effects : Level value are based on 「Character's Level」

Accessories currently have 3 variation

  • Those that have 「Required Level」will have their Effects' value based on that. Example : Secret Dungeons Accessories, Eltrion Accessories (Lv 85)
  • Those that have 「Character's Level」 will have their Effects' value based on that. Example : Event Accessories, Ignia's Accessories
  • Champion's Ornaments Set Effects' are a bit special. They are first based on 「Character's Level」and then will receive multiplier depending on your Arena Rank.

Example : Rank S level 99 character's Champion's Cloak. It has 2 rows of Effects, let's say both are Critical Status.

  • Base % Value of Critical Status for this specific accessory are fixed. Row 1: 2.5%, Row 2: 1.5%.
  • These will first be derived from「Character's Level] which is 99, but for Crit Stats will be calculated as if level 90. Thus the 1% is (90*1.5)+8 = 143.
  • Numerical Value: Row 1: 357.5 , Row 2: 214.5. Not done yet.
  • Next step is multiplier by Arena Rank S, +20%.
  • End result Numerical Value : Row 1: 429 , Row 2 : 257.4(but will show as 257 only, rounded down)


Stat Calculation in Character's info

Characters will have all their stat calculated with the same 2 Formulas from above.

The numerical value shown in 「Character」 Window are obtained from all equips, costumes, titles, and accessories. But how many % will they be towards the Character will vary.
You can hover your cursor over that status to see it's % towards your character.

Example case, Level 99 Character. Having Numerical Value 3476 in Critical, 1916 in Maximize, and Extra HP +4080.
For simplicity sake. The status in example will not go over normalization border, and Value of 1% for a Lv99 Chara will be noted down.
HP 1% = (99*15)+85 = 1570。Other stats 1% = (90*1.5)+8 = 143

  • Critical : (3476/143) = 24.3%
  • Maximize : (1916/143) = 13.4%
  • HP : (4080/1570) = 2.6%
