Whenever Chung is hit during that time where he has a blue outline, he will automatically switch to guard mode. He is however only able to guard 5~6 hits before staggering. When guarding against a Stun or Flatten attack, his guard will be broken.<br>

Pressing CX when he is guarding allows him to counter with a cannon blast. The cannon blast will consume 1 cannonball and will attack in both directions. If Chung has no ammo, then he will counter with a cannon smack instead. Fury Guardian and Iron Paladin have a chance to not knock down the enemy with CX counters if they have the passive Veteran Technique, so long as they have at least one cannonball loaded (this functions similarly to the Counter Chance passive).

While guarding, Chung can counterattack:

*Press CX to fire a short blast in both directions. This knocks down and uses one cannonball. If you have no cannonballs, the Z attack is used instead.

A system exclusive to Chung<br>
Chung's Ammunition Supply is one of his most notable and interesting features. Many of his skills are ammo-reliant. Skills such as Detonation and Lunatic Blow use up all of Chung's ammo, but increase in power based on how much ammo was used. Other skills such as Aiming Shot or Steel Edge use only one. Many of Chung's X attacks use ammo too.
Ammunition, Cannonballs, probably the most notable and interesting aspect of Chung is his Ammunition Supply. Nearly all of Chung's skills rely on his ammo.

Skills such as Detonation or Lunatic Blow can use up all of Chung's ammunition, but at a good price, considering that the amount of power for these skills, is multiplied by how many cannonballs Chung currently has.
To reload your ammo, stand still. This reload animation is affected by action speed. You can also reload by using certain skills or combos like<br>

Other skills such as Aiming Shot or Steel Edge uses only one. Some skills though, like Iron Howling or Dual Buster don't use any ammunition at all.
*Reload Mastery and Remodel Magazine give Shelling Guardian and Shooting Guardian a chance to reload an extra cannonball, respectively.
*Remodel Magazine increases Shooting Guardian's ammo supply.

However that doesn't necessarily mean they're bad, they're for other situations. In fact, skills aren't the only things that uses up Chung's ammo, for many of his X attacks use them too!

Despite being covered in chains when empty, Chung's third awakening bead is obtained like any other. It has a different appearance to indicate when Berserk Mode is ready.

In order to reload your ammo, just stand still, and Chung will set down his cannon and quickly add more cannonballs. You can also reload by using certain moves.
When Berserk Mode is activated, Chung is enveloped in his full Freiturnier armor (notably including the helmet) stored inside his suit's Guardian Stone, a special object that increases his fighting ability. The benefits of Berserk Mode are:

It should also be known that Shooting Guardian has a very useful Passive that will double his ammunition count. If you do not have any ammunition, you will not be able to use any skills that require cannonballs. Therefore, it should be heavily recommended that you always carry at least 1 or 2 rounds of ammunition just in case at all times.

*All blue cannonballs are reloaded and your supply becomes infinite. Tactical Trooper's red cannonballs are unaffected.

*Oddly, "Freiturnier" is German for "free tournament."
Like all characters, Chung also has Awakening Beads, but with one difference. At a first glance, his 3rd bead appears to be locked, covered in chains. However, it can be obtained just like any other bead. The main reason it looks different is to indicate that his Berserk Mode is ready and fully functional.
*When awakened, Chung shouts special actives' names instead of calmly stating them.

Chung has a special object in his armor that helps him to fight better called the Guardian Stone. His Freiturnier armor suit is stored inside this stone and will activate when he goes into his Berserk Mode, enveloping him in his full Freiturnier armor suit, including the helmet and cannon (the appearance of which varies on his class). Benefits of Berserk Mode:
*Chung gains the standard awakening damage increase.
*His cannon's ammunition becomes unlimited, which means you can empty rounds during combos and skills without having to worry about having insufficient ammunition or reloading.

Every character in Elsword has his or her unique features that make him or her distinct.

Heavy Stance

Whenever Chung is hit while he has a blue outline (e.g., the third attack of the ZZZ combo. Like super armor, it cannot be seen if unit graphics are not set to high), he switches to a guarding stance which gives 66% damage reduction. However, he will stagger after guarding around 5-6 hits or an attack that stuns or flattens.

While guarding, Chung can counterattack:

 • Press to swing your cannon. This knocks down.
 • Press to fire a short blast in both directions. This knocks down and uses one cannonball. If you have no cannonballs, the Z attack is used instead.
 • Veteran Technique gives Iron Paladin a chance to not knock down with the X counter (similar to Counter Chance).
 • Cannoneer Withstanding changes both of Tactical Trooper's Heavy Stance counterattack into a cannon slam that reloads cannonballs, launches, and gives him a chance to enter Siege Shelling stance.

Evasive Counter

When Chung gets knocked down, if you have at least one cannonball, press to shoot the floor and launch foes as you evade backward using the recoil. Veteran Technique affects this attack.

Note Chung's change of appearance in Berserk Mode

Despite being covered in chains when empty, Chung's third awakening bead is obtained like any other. It has a different appearance to indicate when Berserk Mode is ready.

When Berserk Mode is activated, Chung is enveloped in his full Freiturnier armor (notably including the helmet) stored inside his suit's Guardian Stone, a special object that increases his fighting ability. The benefits of Berserk Mode are:

 • The standard 20% damage increase from awakening mode.
 • All blue cannonballs are reloaded and your supply becomes infinite. Tactical Trooper's red cannonballs are unaffected.
 • Intense Showtime increases Deadly Chaser's action speed and reduces the MP cost and cooldown times of his skills.
