Description
A member of the Velder royal family who was far from the direct line of succession, living away in seclusion from the kingdom.
History
Estranged Royalty
Vera was born to the Velder Royal Family, but was far down in the line of succession. Due to threats of rebellion during her youth, she was subject to many threats and grew to despise her position as a princess of Velder. She'd come to the decision to abdicate the royal throne, which she was given to ways out, to take her own life by consuming slumber weed, or to live in exile in Fluone. She chose the latter and has since resided in the rural outskirts of Fluone in peace.
Start of the Case
Vera receives a letter from her uncle Laudius requesting she return to Velder as the next in the line of succession due to the other potential heirs having perished during the Demon Invasion. Though Vera decides to travel to Velder, she wishes to deny the request to become Velder's new princess.
In order to make the trip, she hires Mathi as an escort and make their way, taking a stop in Sander. Though she needs to make it to Velder before the Harmony Festival, Vera herself feels in no rush and shops around the Sander bazaar, being an easy target due to her sheltered affluence.
When Mathi and Lithia returned from their commission, Vera introduces herself. Hoping for more companionship, she attempts to hire Lithia, and actually meets the high price Lithia offered. Lithia tried to refuse, but after witnessing Vera's naivety from being scammed at the market, decides to follow along, as she heading toward Feita anyways.
At Zaya Mountains
The group depart Sander and make their way over Zaya Mountains. Vera demonstrated her handiness with wrangling animals as well as knowledge about poisonous plants before they set up camp. Night came, Lithia inquired about Vera's identity, she properly introduces herself and her circumstance. Her story was interrupted by demons and fauna stampeding down the mountain. The group investigate the source of the commotion and see a Naius get corrupted by the lake polluted with Henir energy. They euphemize the Naius and the pollution dissipated on its own.
The group return to their camp where they talk. Vera confides she has little feeling for her family, being the source of many threats and turmoil, but after learning of their demise, still felt a sense of loneliness. She then listened to Lithia's story, correctly suspecting Felix to have been a demon. She admires Lithia's determination to continue her family's research as she contemplates her own decision about the throne.
Chaos in Denice
They arrive at the Port Town Denice but are stalled by traffic and an issue with their registration. Mathi heads to sort things out while Lithia and Vera rest nearby. Vera admits she hopes they don't actually find a ship and reveals she could show the authorities her broach for accommodations, but doesn't feel right taking advantage of it while she intends to refuse Velder's request in the end, which Lithia respects.
Monsters begin to attack the port, Lithia heads to find Mathi while Vera helped direct the fleeing crowds. After finding Mathi, Lithia tries to get them to flee themselves, but Vera feels for the people's livelihoods and convinces Lithia to stay and help. Once the Guardian Knights reinforcements returned, Vera reported the situation and injured to them. After receiving safe passage, they board their ship and head out. Learning that Velder and other places like Northern Empire had seen worse devastation than what she'd seen today, she worries Velder's request might be one she cannot refuse, and if so, she worries what she could even do.

- In Lithia's Mischief Path, during the Duke's Plot events, Lithia failed to save Vera due to the former being caught off guard by the latter's royal status, having not learned of it beforehand. This results in Vera's execution by the Velder Knights, despite Mathi's attempts to restore her to normal.
