The Mysterious Floating Island in the Sky

Altera (Korean: 알테라 Altera) is a mysterious floating island situated in the middle of Elrios, located off the eastern coast of the continent of Rurensia. The island is home to the Ponggos, a race of bipedal mole that lives within the island itself rather than on the surface. The island is also inhabited by the Nasod, a secret race of extremely advanced and deadly technology. Altera is the fourth region that the Elgang visits and is where Raven and Eve are introduced into the group. The Elgang must deal with the Black Crow mercenaries and engage in war against the Nasod, who are discovered to be responsible for stealing the El from Wally in order for them to gain enough power to continue the ancient war against humanity.

Story

After defeating Wally on the Cargo Airship, the airship is attacked by another airship, one owned by the Black Crows. The airship crashes onto the floating island of Altera, and the Elgang escape the wreckage, coming across Altera Village. The Elgang meets Adel of the Ponggos, who informs them of the lack of any trace of Wally and suggests that the Elgang ask Raven, captain of the Black Crows, the reason for their attack on the airship. However, the Black Crows become a looming threat to the Ponggos, so Adel requests that the Elgang deals with the mercenaries. The Elgang confront Raven in a surprise attack and defeat him. Raven realizes his mistakes and decides to join the party to help them on their quest and atone for his sins. Raven reveals that King Nasod is the one responsible for taking the El from Wally's airship. The Elgang then embarks on a perilous quest to Altera Core, the headquarters of King Nasod, in order to retrieve the stolen El and prevent the Nasod from starting another war. After investigating the Return Plains and ending the Alteresia threat, the Elgang learns the location of Altera Core. After first traversing through Altera Plain, the Elgang comes across the Nasod Foundry. There, the Elgang successfully destroys the production line to stop the assembly of Nasods and defeats Raven’s robotic clone, Crow Rider, who was guarding the elevator that connects to Altera Core. After fighting through the security of Altera Core, the Elgang reaches King Nasod and engages in a climactic battle to decide the fate of humanity and Nasods alike. The Elgang triumphantly defeats the Nasod monarch, ending its reign and destroying the last of the Nasod race... or so the group thought. The Elgang comes across a preservation capsule containing what appeared to be a young girl. The pod opens up and the capsule's resident is "reactivated". After many years of hibernation, the Little Queen of Nasod, Eve, is reawakened. She learns of the destruction of Altera Core and the tragic fate that befell her corrupted race. Eve slaps Elsword as an "angry" response to the news. Despite that, Elsword tells her that she is not alone and that he will be her friend. Though confused by his statement, Eve decides to join the Elgang in order to once again revive the Nasod race. And so, the Elgang retrieves the El and returns it to Ruben. However, news of a crisis in another region spread and the Elgang is sent to investigate.

Altera Village (Korean: 알테라 마을 Altera Town) is an underground village in the island of Altera and the main residence of the Ponggos. Despite being underground, the village is quite large and spacious, with a number of levels, platforms, and ramps. Various mining equipment can be seen and heard throughout the steampunk-like village.

Town NPCs


Adel 		Chief of Altera Village
Chief Adel is the wise elder of Altera Village. He oversees the welfare of his villagers while also teaching young Ponggo on literature and writing. The Chief is over 100 years old - quite unusual for a Ponggo whose average life span is much shorter than humans.

Aida 		Accessory Shop Owner
For a kid who owns an accessory shop, Aida is timid and weak. Amidst the battle between Nasod and Ponggo, she is found in her shop poring over pretty and shiny ornaments. She believes that life is too short for fighting, and that it is better spent seeking and enjoying beauty.

Amos 		Alchemist
Amos is well-versed in alchemy, chemistry and science. Thoughtful despite his age, he is good at making plans though a bit too shy to carry them out. The Ponggo Alchemist hopes to help others and the world with his vast knowledge.

Agatha 		Equipment Shop Owner
An aggressive and hearty weapons dealer, Agatha is boastful and cunning. Her figure may be the envy of health buffs everywhere, but she often gets sick. She speaks her mind even though the timid nature of the Ponggos runs in her blood.

Ariel 		Cobo Service Representative
One of Cobo Travel's employees, her multi-tasking, negotiation, and social skills, make her the perfect woman to handle the El Search Party's Travel Documents and Guild Registration.

Camilla 		Sparring Area Administrator
The charming but feisty Sparring Area administrator, Camilla, spends most of her time playing with weapons. This makes her the perfect person to lecture wannabe heroes who want to acquire additional survival skills. Apply or die!

Luriel 		Cobo Bank Service Attendant
Luriel is the most trustworthy employee of COBO, entrust your items with her through COBO Bank Service and she'll keep them safe. You can deposit and withdraw your items from her anytime. Luriel is also present in any town for your convenience.

Helen 		Peddler
Helen is the legendary merchant who sells essentials for adventurers, mainly potions that can be used during battle. A frequent visitor of scenic destinations, she has become an expert in avoiding roaming baddies.

Glaive 		Administrator of Henir’s Time and Space
Glave was once a human who went searching for the absolute truth. The greater being punished him, and in his transformation, he lost all human emotion. He now deals with his boredom by opening the challenge of Henir's Time and Space to young adventurers.

The Garrison in the Sky is a wide open field area underneath the island of Altera. The area contains a massive energy plant that generates power for Altera Core, which can be seen in the background. The entrance to Nasod Foundry can be seen at the middle bottom of the area. The field is overrunning with Nasod ready to attack on sight. At the center of the area, there is an air lift that will launch a character who steps on it upwards. On the right side of the area, near the entrance to the Nasod Dumpsite, are two conveyor belts running in opposite directions that one may ride on.

An upgraded Nasod of its old predecessor. This Nasod uses a sturdy shield to protect its front while quickly jabbing you with its electric baton while you're off-guard.
Nasod Watcher: Shooter
An upgraded Nasod that is much more deadly in its aim and accuracy.
Nasod Freezer: Type-I
Type-I is a Nasod that can launch huge Ice Blasts from its arm.
Nasod Watcher: Blader
A skilled Nasod that slashes you with its twin blades with sharp swiftness.
Broken Nasod Scorpion
A mechanical scorpion created by the Nasods. The Nasod Scorpion uses its pincers to attack you while hiding under the moss.

Trivia

  • Prior to the Hunting Fields update, at the edge of the outskirts, instead of another town, there was a sign saying "DANGER" and below it an image of Aisha pushing Elsword off the edge.
  • This is the only town in the game to have a cast of NPCs that are entirely a different race than the humans. (Not counting the Special NPCs that appear in every town)
