Before Joining 2

Eve made it into the Nasod Foundry, now that the Adam has been defeated, many of the factory's operations had ceased. What was left were few machines still in operation, creating incomplete Nasods who fell to the ground unfinished, the sound of their bodies haunting the facility. Why had things come to this point? She decides to put an end to the facility, to allow what is left of her people to fall silent and rest. She then returns to the place where she awoke, reflecting on her fallen kin and coming to a final decision, she had made her peace on this island, and now she should seek those who wished for her company.

The girl finds a machine that's still functioning at the foundry.

Quest Completion Dialogue

  • She arrived at the Nasod Foundry through the transporting funnel. Unlike the Black Crow, the foundry was connected to Altera Core, and was still partly running using the small remaining energy.

  • Eve walked inside the foundry and stopped, her eyes following the rail installed on the ceiling to watch the manufacturing process of a Nasod.
  • Click, Clack, the body was built with organized movement. The machine that was supposed to handle the following process looked like it was cut with something sharp. The bodies would build up to that point, only to fall listlessly to the ground when the machine did not function.

  • There were already several Nasod parts scattered around the ground. But the manufacturing process continued, and the incomplete Nasod dropped to the ground.
  • Eve: This... This can't...
  • PLOP, ... PLOP, ... and gain, PLOP. Every time the bodies would fall, Eve felt something slamming in her chest.
  • Eve hurriedly examined the code for the manufacturing Nasods. A code that was brutally simplified after countless modification to increase the deadliness... Eve could not believe her eyes.
  • These... Nasods... manufactured here, could not even be called Nasods. They had no chance to gain any will. They would just be machines that follow orders.
  • Eve: I did not want this to happen when I activated the system core! Adam, why would you do something like this?
  • Eve: These are not Nasods... You must know that... then why...
  • Click, Clack, ... PLOP. Eve hugged her legs, unmoving, with the endless sounds of machinery and the bodies falling in the background.
  • Remy: ...
  • Moby: ......
  • The two drones waited patiently by her feet, occasionally nudging her, but were dispirited when Eve buried her head without response.
  • Eve needed time to accept the situation. But the drones were worried something went wrong with her. Moby and Remy exchanged signals between them in worry.
  • How long has it been? When Eve finally raised her head, she noticed that Moby and Remy were occupied, doing something to the circuit on the wall.
  • Eve: ... Remy? Moby? What are you doing?
  • Moby & Remy: !!
  • Eve: El energy... Did you try to take energy from the Foundry?
  • Eve: I'm sorry if I worried you. I have enough energy. I'm not going to power out any time soon.
  • Remy: ~!
  • Eve: ... To tell you the truth... I do understand that Adam did not wish for this to happen.
  • Eve: The archived coding... I can see what Adam has done over the years.
  • Eve: More efficient, more durable, more powerful... A build up of data to be proficient in battle in any environment.
  • Eve: I'm sorry for Adam... but if the red-haired boy and the humans did not stop Adam when they did, we would have had another Nasod War in our hands. That should never come to be.
  • Eve: But... What can I do? Can I find a way the Nasods can live with other races... all on my own?
  • Moby & Remy: ~! ~!
  • Eve: ... Huhu, you are right. I am not alone. I have you two, after all.
  • Remy jumped in her arms when she raised them. Eve pulled Moby in her arms as well and pet them gently, looking at the circuit the two drones exposed.
  • Eve: We can use this to remove the Foundry's power source. Moby, Remy, good job.
  • Eve: There must be several more places where it's connected. Let's look for them.
  • Moby & Remy: ~! ~!
  • After blocking the circuit, Eve headed to the elevator. PLOP. The last body fell to the ground as Eve left.
  • The foundry was now full of silence.

Description

The girl finds something that is critically damaged.

Quest Completion Dialogue
  • Crow Rider: A... Naso... crea... my...
  • Moby: !!
  • Identification Code Crow Rider was already critically damaged by the time Eve found it.
  • It was still moving, but will soon cease to move.
  • Crow Rider: Emotionless... ... show no mercy... ... This was the kind of monster I have become.
  • Eve: ... You've copied that man.
  • Eve: ......
  • Eve recalled what Adrian said to her. She was to understand human emotion and connect the Nasods and humans... destined to become the Queen of the Nasods.
  • But Adam was not.
  • What she sees in front of her was a machine created by copying a human. This must have been the reason why Adam interfered with Raven's mind and emotion.
  • Eve briefly contemplated if this was Adam's way of trying to understand humans. There was no way to know, as she was not him.
  • Eve: ... I'm sorry. You are not a monster.

  • Eve kneeled next to Crow Rider and carefully held its head.
  • Eve: We are machine, given purpose the moment we are born. That's how we differ from other life forms.

  • Eve: When I set the Core and fell asleep... This was not the result I wanted. But I understand I should not run from my responsibility with an excuse like that.
  • The light inside the mask faintly flickered.
  • Eve: I'm sorry to give you a life like this. May you rest in peace...
  • Crow Rider: ......
  • Crow Rider: ... no... regretting... already happened. But...
  • Crow Rider: ... the future is... different! ... change whatever... in our way!
  • Finally, the flickering light faded, and the Crow Rider remained silent.
  • Eve: Do you believe that?
  • Eve: Can I... change the future?
  • Eve put the head down and smiled forlornly. It seems I keep asking questions I cannot get an answer to today.
  • Though she confirmed that it completely stopped functioning, Eve remained by its side a bit longer. She did not know why, but she felt like it.
  • If anyone was watching her, they may have told her that it was an act of showing her condolence.
  • The two drones, as always, remained on her side.

Description

The girl returns to where it all started.

Quest Completion Dialogue
  • Eve: I'm back to the beginning... Where she and her people were asleep in the conservation device...
  • Eve entered the cave located deep within Altera Core. Soon, she found herself in a familiar environment.
  • Eve: There's nothing more to find out... But should we look around?
  • With that, Moby and Remy lit the path. Eve slowly followed and looked around.

  • When she just woke up after a long sleep, she believed the red-haired boy ruined everything and was angry. She thought... since the core was destroyed, everything was over.
  • But her brethren that entered the preservation device with her already lost all function, was severely damaged due to fallen stalactite, or the contamination of Alterasia.

  • It's not likely that they would ever wake up. She is still alone. But...

  • She received an offer.

  • A human, who told her he would be her friend...
  • After looking around the cave, Eve left a part of her memory for sentimental reasons, and just in case one of her fellow Nasod wakes up despite the terrible condition. She left Altera Core to head to the village.
  • ... ... ... ...
  • As she entered the Ponggo Village, Eve looked around, taking in the lively atmosphere. All sorts of machine running, and the large pipe would occasionally release hot steam.
  • It seemed like she was entering an old machine rather than a village.
  • Compared to Adam's facilities, it was chaotic, and less advanced, but Eve felt comfort.
  • Eve: How strange. I never visited here, and it looks nothing like cities or villages I've visited... yet it feels strangely familiar.
  • Eve: There's an expression humans use, that a place looks 'lived in'... Is this what that feels like?
  • Agatha: ... Huh? What do you mean, Pong?
  • A Ponggo was standing right beside her without her noticing. Eve smiled apologetically.
  • Eve: I'm sorry. I was so busy looking around, that I did not notice you approaching. Anyway... This place seem quaint, and warm.
  • Agatha: Is that so...? I'm surprised as Nasod would say that, Pong. Perhaps it's because you're an ancient Nasod?
  • Amos: Anyway, what are you doing here, Pong? I believe you had something to tell us?
  • Eve: Yes. I looked around the facilities Adam built and removed the remaining power source. You should be safe now.
  • Amos: That's great! Thank you, Pong! Now we can travel around the island more freely.
  • Eve: Ah... Are you not planning on leaving this island? Now that Adam is gone, you should be able to escape.
  • Agatha: Oh, the El Search Party asked the same thing. It's fine. No matter what happened, this is our home.
  • Amos: We may decide to leave later, but that day is not today, Pong!
  • Eve: I see. Ah... The Black Crow is right outside the village. There are some Transplant Soldiers left, but they won't be able to attack you.
  • Eve: I just took a look, as it was too much for me to handle on my own... Can I request you to handle it in my stead?
  • Eve: You can use the airship as you see fit. If you use it to get out of this island, I'm sure the ship will also be happy.
  • Agatha: You're right! Thanks a lot.
  • Agatha: Leave the soldiers to us. They may not be able to return to normal like Raven, but it would be good for them to have a brand new beginning as well.
  • Eve: I'm sorry. I caused you much grief, and now I am causing you more trouble.
  • Eve: I... I will leave now. Thank you for your care.
  • Amos: Are you going after your friends, Pong?
  • Eve: Friends... yes. Now that I have said my farewells, I should go see them.
  • Eve: Thank you. Goodbye everyone.
