Chapter 2: The Secret of Wally's Castle
Chief Hagus has suggested that Elsword and his party seek Hoffman from Elder Village. Both Hoffman and Lenphad have informed the El Search Party that Banthus is hiding out in a cave. They started to chase Banthus again but failed to catch him. On the way, they found a letter written by Lord Wally of Elder. The letter states that Wally commanded Banthus to steal the El. This leaves our heroes no choice but to turn to Luichel, the former thief, for help to get into Wally's Kingdom.
Elsword and the gang finally obtained the key to Wally’s Castle from the soldier in the suburbs of Elder. The castle was mainly used to manufacture Nasods, using the stolen El Shard, and taxes paid by innocent villagers. Our heroes destroy Wally No.8 but Wally flees with the rest of the El Shard.

- Rena: It is said, that on the day of the Harmony Festival... The Sun Master who took pity on the El Lady attacked El Tower which lead to the El Explosion.
- Rena: And that's why there are multiple Els spread across the land.
- Aisha: The El Explosion caused the ancient Elrian Kingdom to fall to ruins. Many years have passed since then...
- Aisha: You seriously don't know any of this?!
- Elsword: Hey! I'm not an idiot! I'm a member of the El Search Party! Of course I knew! ... Not to that detail though...
- Elsword: Anyway! All that matters is that I'm going to restore the El, rescue the El Lady, and return everything back to normal!
- Aisha: Now you're just listing childish dreams. The stuff about the El Lady is just a myth.
- Elsword: Stop treating me like a kid!
- Aisha: Then stop acting like one. And stop being a picky eater and eat some vegetables, Elsword! You want to grow taller, don't you?
- Elsword: I can do that without eating vegetables! What are you doing here, anyway? Finding the El has nothing to do with you, doesn't it?
- Aisha: Sigh, you're just clueless sometimes. I'm on a journey to look for my missing ring that contains my mana.
- Aisha: The person who took my ring must have been after my mana. Which means the one who stole Ruben's El Shard could be the same person who stole my ring.
- Elsword: So you're in it for yourself.
- Rena: (Oh... This is giving me a headache...)
- Rena: Phew, on another note, what do you think the person would use the El for once they receive it from the bandits?
- Aisha: The El has many uses. Even the smallest El shard holds much greater power than magic stones.
- Aisha: Not to mention one as big as Ruben's El... I can't even imagine how much it's worth.
- (CREEEEEAK...)
- Hoffman: I'm sorry to keep you waiting. I had urgent matters to take care of, as someone stole our merchandise.
- Hoffman: Hagus already told me about you.
- Rena: You were robbed? That sounds serious. How long have the bandits been active?
- Hoffman: Quite some time now, actually. The Lord of this land is not doing anything about it, so we're all worried.
- Aisha: That's negligence...
- Elsword: Hey mister, is Banthus the name of the bandit that's troubling you?
- Hoffman: Yes. He has always caused trouble for us... but while the Lord was turning a blind eye to our troubles, the number of bandits kept growing.
- Aisha: Oh! This should be straight forward, then. We're here to catch Banthus.
- Hoffman: Are you bounty hunters? Or is this a personal matter?
- Elsword: I'm a member of the El Search Party. Banthus ran away with Ruben's El Shard. I have to find him and return the El where it belongs.
- Hoffman: I see... Hm... I will tell you the location of the bandits' hideout.
- Hoffman: On one condition.
- Elsword: Huh...? What's the condition?
- Hoffman: I wish for your cooperation in returning the merchandise to the proper owners.
- Rena: We would love to help... but please understand that this is an urgent matter. With the El gone, the creatures of Ruben are already under impact.
- Rena: If we're too late... The bandits will be the least of your troubles.
- Hoffman: Do not worry. My request is related to the El. I wished for you to take care of the bandits and monsters of the forest.
- Rena: It is said, that on the day of the Harmony Festival... The Sun Master who took pity on the El Lady attacked El Tower which lead to the El Explosion.

- Elsword: Stop treating me like a kid!
- Ain: (The El Lady... I suppose people no longer believe she's real, now that centuries have passed since the El Explosion.)

- Ain: (Humans are doing whatever they want with the El that was bestowed by the Goddess.)
- Ain: Anyway, it's getting late. When can we meet this... Hoffman? I'd rather not waste time.
- Rena: Mm... Let's wait. He did say he had urgent matters to take care of, and we need to be asking these people a favor...
- Ain: Why should we bother when imperative that we find find the El as soon as possible?
- Elsword: Um... well, it's our first time here, right? If we snoop around and cause a scene without properly introducing ourselves, people here would get upset!
- Aisha: Yes, and we need to gain their trust if we want help finding Banthus...
- Ain: (We need... Trust? To look for the missing El Shard? Do humans no longer prioritize the El?)
- (CREEEEEAK...)
- Hoffman: I'm sorry to keep you waiting. I had urgent matters to take care of, as someone stole our merchandise.

- Rena: We would love to help... but please understand that this is an urgent matter. With the El gone, the creatures of Ruben are already under impact.

- Aisha: The monsters of the forest...?
- Hoffman: There's a place called Shadow Forest near Elder. Just like the name suggests, it's a dangerous place shrouded by dark and evil energy.
- Hoffman: Legend has it that it's connected to the Demon Realm, a terrifying world of monsters and demons.
- Hoffman: Recently, there was a surge in the number of monsters living in the forest, and the spirits have turned violent.
- Rena: The spirits...? They might be acting out because of the monsters. I'll talk to them.
- Hoffman: I wish that was the case... But I'm afraid the situation is more complicated. The bandit's hideout is also near the forest, so be careful.
- Elsword: So all we have to do is go through the Shadow Forest then take care of the hideout, right?
- Hoffman: Precisely. Once you clear the path, the merchants will follow you and retrieve the stolen merchandise, and you should be able to retrieve the El.
- Aisha: An evil forest... I don't like it.
- Elsword: That took forever! But it's clear, what we have to do next. Let's go!

- Aisha: Ain, you look enthusiastic all of a sudden?
- Ain: I merely thought it's in our best interest to deal with this promptly and be on our way.
- Elsword: That took forever! But it's clear, what we have to do next. Let's go!
- Elsword: Thanks for understanding, Ain. Let's help these people and find the El right away.
- Ain: (Help them? No, as the Agent of the Goddess, I have a duty to stay vigilant against any that may cause Elrios to be in danger, including the Demon Realm...)

- Aisha: Ugh... The bandits were actually hiding here! Hiding in this dark, dreary place... What a horrible taste!
- Rena: Hoffman was right to worry. The spirits here... They're not listening to me.
- Rena: And there's something ominous about this forest. I can understand why someone would think it's linked to the Demon Realm.
- Aisha: ... This reminds me of the 'Black Forest Monster Emergence' incident I read from Grandpa's books. Let's get out of here, before something bad happens.
- Elsword: I think we got all the bandits... but no El Shard in sight. Did they take it somewhere else?
- Rena: It seems so. But the merchants are taking the bandits to the castle. We should be able to learn what happened to the El then.
- Hoffman: Thank you. We were able to arrest the bandits with your help.
- Lenphad: Tsk, there's so many of them. The Lord should have been taking care of this, but it's us, the villagers that have to bring them on a silver platter for him.
- Hoffman: But with this, I'm sure the Lord will finally act. There's no reason not to, when this will all be considered his achievement.
- (Sliing)
- Elsword: ... What's this necklace that Banthus was wearing? It shined every time he used his mechanical arm. Does it have some kind of special power?
- Aisha: Hm... It looks too new to be a relic... Was this created with magic? I don't think it is...
- Aisha: Hmm... Interesting... An object that I, the genius girl magician Aisha, can't figure out!
- Elsword: ... What? And you acted like you knew everything.
- Aisha: It's not like you know anything either! All you saw was this necklace sparkle!
- Hoffman: That necklace... May I take a look at it?
- Hoffman: ... Hm... This... is an intricate machine. I believe I saw something similar before. Perhaps Nasod technology was used to make it.
- Aisha: Ha! There's no way someone like Banthus can handle anything Nasod related...
- Elsword: ... What's a Nasod?
- Aisha: Sigh, I can tell you didn't pay attention in history class. Nasod is a forbidden technology that's said to have existed when the ancient Elrian Kingdom was still around.
- Elsword: Really? Why is it forbidden?
- Aisha: There's no information on why it was forbidden. All we know, is that there was a Nasod War, and after that, anything related to Nasod technology was forbidden.
- Hoffman: That is correct. If this necklace is indeed made with Nasod technology... This can also be a problem. I must inform the Lord about this as well.

- Ain: (Humans seem to think the Demon Realm doesn't actually exist, but this place is actually filled with demonic energy. It's a vile place, just like they say.)
- Ain: (If only the El was stable... This wouldn't have happened...)
- Elsword: I think we got all the bandits... but no El Shard in sight. Did they take it somewhere else?

- [Elder Village]
- Villager 1: ... At least Elder has mercenaries hired by the merchants. There are villagers that've been pillaged in the surrounding area... Tsk.
- Villager 2: Pillaged? By bandits?
- Villager 1: They're not sure. From what I hear, they come in and steal all the magic stones and metal pieces.
- Villager 1: But no one knows how they came in! The villagers should have seen them coming if they came through the entrance, but that wasn't the case.
- Villager 2: How can there be no trace? It's not like the bandits fell from the sky!
- Villager 1: Who knows? You know what else I heard? They say, these bandits loot all the magic stones and metal, but leave other valuables like money and gems alone.
- Villager 2: What a strange group of bandits.
- Rena: Oh, there's an interesting rumor going around. I haven't heard anything about pillaging in Ruben.
- Rena: I suppose there is information that's only available in big villages like these. If only we had more time to hang around.
- Aisha: Stop right there! You wanna repeat that? Lightning Bolt!
- Elsword: Ack! Ow, ow! What! What's wrong calling shorty a shorty!
- Rena: If only... we had... Time...
- Villager 2: ... But did you hear? The merchants that went to the castle... They still haven't come back. You don't think something happened to them?
- Rena: Hm?
- Villager 1: Not only that, there's someone who saw bandits gathering around scheming something. I thought they were all taken to the castle...?
- Rena: The captured bandits showed themselves again...?
- Rena: We should check it out. Aisha! Elsword! Stop fighting. Let's go see Hoffman.

- Hoffman: Thank goodness you'e here. I was just about to end someone.
- Rena: Is it bad news?
- Hoffman: ... Lord Wally is detaining the merchants.
- Hoffman: They say it's to interview the witnesses, but they are treating them more like prisoners.
- Aisha: That's absurd! Do you know the reason?
- Hoffman: We are trying to figure that out as well. Come, Ms. Echo here was just about to share her account.
- Echo: Uh huh... Necklace that Banthus had... I looked at it. It's Nasod technology. Wally probably made it.
- Aisha: The Lord recreated a long lost ancient technology? How did he do it?
- Echo: Hm... Echo not sure. But... It happened a long time ago. Wally brought Nasod parts and asked a lot of questions.
- Echo: It was Echo's first time seeing Nasod parts so Echo was no help. Just gave him some reference to work with.
- Rena: So, he already knew about Nasods back then.
- Echo: You came to Elder to find the El? Echo thinks Wally ordered the bandits to steal the El.
- Elsword: What? Why would the Lord order something like that?
- Echo: Echo investigated after Wally left. El is needed to create and power Nasods.
- Aisha: Oh! I heard about that! Apparently Nasods use the El as its power source.
- Lenphad: Then he must have detained them because he's guilty! That scummy Lord! I thought he was just an incompetent piece of trash, but now this? I'm not going to let him get away with this!
- Elsword: Oh! What do you plan on doing about it?
- Lenphad: Charge to the castle and teach Wally a lesson!
- Elsword: Sounds good! Count me in!
- Aisha: Sigh... If it were any other time, I would stop him, but...
- Hoffman: Yes. Not only is it unacceptable that the Lord of the land will collaborate with the bandits to detain his citizens, but to steal the kingdom's El and use it on forbidden Nasod technology... We cannot let this slide.
- Lenphad: Then let's go! I won't rest until he's paid for his action!
- Hoffman: Calm down. Taking Wally head on is dangerous. We don't know what he's up to, and what of the guards protecting the castle?
- Elsword: If we can't face head on, we find another way! We just need to find a way to hide in the castle, right?
- Rena: Oh?
- Hoffman: That's reasonable. I believe Luichel should be able to help in that endeavor.
- Luichel: Another way into the castle? Hm... There is a secret passageway through the underground waterway that leads to Wally's Castle. It's been a while though, so I'm not sure if it's still viable.
- Aisha: Um... That's... good news? But how do you know about this secret passageway.
- Luichel: Well- Let me just say I've already washed my hands on the matter!
- Aisha: Ah, I see...
- Elsword: Not sure what you're on about... We just need to check this passage, right?

- Aisha: Follow the underground waterway... and the passage to the castle should be on the other side of the barred gate at the end of the path! Did I get that right?
- Hoffman: I'm sure there would be commotion once you successfully infiltrate the castle. We will take that as our signal to march through the castle gates.
- Lenphad: Then once the fight starts, some of the guards will have to come stop us. That's your chance to enter the castle, find Wally, and retrieve the El!
- Elsword: Alright! Everyone get ready. If the passage is blocked, I'm going to burst my way in!
- Aisha: I don't think he understands the meaning of infiltration...
- Hoffman: We wish you good luck.
- Luichel: It won't be easy. Be careful, ok?
- Elsword: Yeah. Leave it to us.
- (STEP, STEP...)
- Rena: Luichel was right. This must have been the bandit's hideout before.
- Aisha: Ugh... It's disgusting. Why can't they make their hideout somewhere with sun and good ventilation?
- Elsword: Because that will make a bad hideout.
- Rena: Oh... Here's a large hole through the wall. Do you think this is the passage Luichel told us about?
- Aisha: ... No. It's blocked. But there's a sign of walls, pipes, and even floors being taken apart.
- Rena: Hm... Maybe this is the secret location where they researched Nasods...?
- Elsword: I still don't get what Nasods are all about, but they can't be up to any good if they had to hide away like this to research them. Let's go get Wally!

- Ain: Oh well, we can only hope the passage is wide open.
- Hoffman: We wish you good luck.
- Luichel: It won't be easy. Be careful, ok?
- Elsword: Yeah. Leave it to us.
- Ain: (Is asking after each other for everything truly necessary? Humans needlessly worry too much.)
- Ain: Aha! A deserted crime scene, you mean?
- Elsword: I still don't get what Nasods are all about, but they can't be up to any good if they had to hide away like this to research them. Let's go get Wally!

- Soldier: Intruders!
- (DING DING DING)
- Elsword: Hmph, it's too late! We're aleady here!
- Rena: Wait... I thought they looked familiar! The soldiers of Wally's castle, they're the bandits we captured at the forest!
- Elsword: What? They were on Wally's side all along? I'm going to teach these guys a lesson!
- Rena: The infiltration was a success! Aisha, did you find the detained merchants?
- Aisha: Yes! I set all of them free! Now, we just leave the rest to the villagers and go capture Wally!
- Soldier: Intruders!

- Rena: Wait... I thought they looked familiar! The soldiers of Wally's castle, they're the bandits we captured at the forest!
- Ain: It seems they had no intention of hiding. Or they're stupid enough to think they're doing a good job.
- Elsword: What? They were on Wally's side all along? I'm going to teach these guys a lesson!
- Rena: The infiltration was a success! Aisha, did you find the detained merchants?

- Elsword: Found him! Hey, Wally! Stop right there! Give us back the El Shard!
- Wally No. 8: (WHIRRRR... CLICK)
- Aisha: Huh? What's... That...? What is Wally stepping on?
- Elsword: Hey, Wally! Get down here!
- Elsword: Oh, Nasod? That thing everyone was talking about?
- Rena: That strange thing? How does it attack?
- (CLICK, BANG!)
- (BOOM!!!)
- Aisha: It, it's firing missiles from its hands!! Everyone dodge!
- Elsword: Found him! Hey, Wally! Stop right there! Give us back the El Shard!
- Wally No. 8: (WHIRRRR... CLICK)
- Aisha: Huh? What's... That...? What is Wally stepping on?
- Elsword: Hey, Wally! Get down here!
- Ain: (Nasod...? It's a clumsy imitation, but a Nasod regardless. But their response...)
- Ain: (I see. These humans only heard about Nasods, but do not actually known what they are.)
- Ain: (They do not realize even when a Nasod it right in front of their noses. This won't do.)
- Ain: You, be careful. I believe that is a Nasod.
- Elsword: Oh, Nasod? That thing everyone was talking about?
- Rena: That strange thing? How does it attack?
- (CLICK, BANG!)

- Elsword: ...
- Rena: Sigh...
- Lenphad: Why the long face? Cheer up! You all did good!
- Aisha: It's great we were able to save the villagers, but Wally still got away...
- Elsword: Who would have thought that chunky piece of metal could fly? And it shot missiles from its hands... Are all Nasods like that?
- Hoffman: It's a shame you couldn't retrieve the El because you were busy solving our problem.
- Lenphad: But Elder owes you a debt. If you need anything, anything at all, just let us know!
- Rena: I'm glad we were able to do some good. Now that Wally's gone, there should be less bandits as well.
- Hoffman: Thank you. Everyone who suffered under Wally's rule will be happy to hear the news.
- Hoffman: From here, I believe the most likely place that Wally ran off to is... Bethma Valley. It's the closest, with steep mountains surrounding the area.
- Elsword: So it's easy to hide suspicious activities?
- Rena: Bingo.
- Hoffman: There's another reason why I think Wally headed to Bethma. You see, Bethma is a mining town.
- Aisha: What about it?
- Hoffman: I'm a merchant. As such, I pride myself being good with reading the flow of money and goods.
- Hoffman: But that Nasod Wally created... I haven't heard a word about him buying a large supply of metal which is surely necessary to create such a contraption.
- Aisha: You mean he smuggled it? And you think the materials came from Bethma.
- Elsword: I get it. That's why it has to be a mine.
- Elsword: Yes. It seems like a good starting point for you. Here's my letter to Stella in Bethma. It should help you.
- Aisha: I know the way to Bethma. I passed by when I was coming here. I'll lead the way.
- Elsword: ...

- Ain: (... In the end, I have failed to retrieve the El here.)
- Ain: (Once we leave, the trust we have built here will no longer be of use to us. It was a waste of time.)
- Elsword: We failed to retrieve the El, but I'm glad we were able to help these people. Right, Ain?
- Ain: ... Ah.
- Rena: True. The captured merchants were able to return home... and they won't have to worry about bandits for a while. The village seems much livelier now.
- Aisha: I still wish we were able to teach Wally a lesson! But... I guess this wasn't too bad.
- Elsword: Let's visit here again once we retrieve the El!
- Ain: ...
